Does the tag say £250?

I can't see a dot and that isn't the dash he has used on the other tags e.g. "£25‒00"

Planets aligned today so I could go to the toy fair. Mrs suggested I pay the extra to go in early, which was quite nice as you weren't fighting through the great unwashed - however what I hadn't realised was that Sandown was on yesterday so I think most of the real goodies sold there. Still picked up a few bits though

I forgot to post a shot of the French Majorette display, saw one in both toy shops we visited:

The packs are accessible from both sides and there's a load more inside the 'rear doors' as well.

@sierraman could you explain where the model shop is in Benidorm that you mentioned previously? Is it modern stuff or older stock… the latter I’m more interested in.

In fact there’s two, let me do a pin drop and I’ll DM you through the WhatsApp. If it’s old stuff you want then you’ll need to go to El Rastro on Sunday.

Question for y’all,

Anyone know what 1:43 scale UK buses are available?
Anything goes really, but ideally stuff like Leyland Nationals, Routemaster’s, Bristol VR’s… any of the classic British buses. Or better yet, does anyone make those lovely old Plaxton bodied coaches in 1:43??

The only thing I’ve managed to find so far is the IXO based partwork AEC Regent. Frustratingly there doesn’t seem much available other than French and Spanish stuff which is pretty much useless to us Brits!

The only 1:43 bus I've ever been tempted to buy is the Bova Futura, which is part of that IXO / Hatchette partwork series.

I've seen very little in the way of British buses in 1:43 as the majority seem to follow Corgi's lead and use 1:50. Isn't there a chap on RMweb (Steve something?) who does a 1:43 3D printed Leyland National? Apart from that nothing else comes to mind so asking the O gauge modellers on RMweb what they do for buses is probably your best bet. A RHD conversion of the aforementioned Bova Futura might be possible though to at least create a UK version of a foreign coach.

SBT developments is the 3D printed National. It looks very nice, but it’s £75!

I’ll have a look for the Bova, I can’t picture the model off the top of my head tbh.

There’s this Routemaster, which is labelled as a 1:43 but for some reason I’m not convinced it is?

LOL, blatant false advertising right there. That Routemaster is clearly an Oxford Diecast 1:76 model so about half the size of the 1:43 quoted on the box. Add to that the real bus was an MCW-bodied Leyland PD2 that looked nothing like a Routemaster and the 'buy with confidence' assertion really doesn't ring true.

IXO have done 4 versions under their own brand of 1/43 AEC Regents, and done others in the Hachette part works. They retail for £50 and sell quite quickly. They have none listed in their 2024 catalogue though.

IXO BUSES 1:43 SCALE (ixomodels.com)

That Oxford OFAH thing looks like a Code 3 1/76th scale one of these

Cheers chaps!

That OFAH one is terrible isn’t it!😆 it doesn’t even look big enough to be 1:43.

Ive got the green version of the IXO/Hachette Regent/RT which is a lovely model. Quality wise it was a bit iffy with bits having fallen off and the grill glued on squiffy which I popped off and glued back on straight, but I do like it.

Just looked at the Bova… and bought one!😄
Looks a good option tbh and the model looks pretty good for £25. It looks like an early version of the Futura to me but I’m not a bus expert??

It would make a suitably terrible companion for Corgi's equally inaccurate attempt at the coach from the Jolly Boys' Outing, but at least the latter is advertised as the right scale.

The Bova is the first version with the big round headlights from 1984-89. Lots of them were sold here (imported by Alf Moseley) and they had long lives with subsequent operators into the 21st century so there's plenty of livery options. RHD conversion looks doable without too much trouble.

EDIT: TTC Diecast have a page of 1/43 buses but apart from the RT and the Oxford Weymann Fanfare that I'd forgotten about they're all foreign. The Irisbus Agora may have some potential though as a handful of them were sold in the UK.

I was just reading about them, I didn’t realise they were that old! They look so much more modern with that rounded front end. Nice looking coaches, and I definitely remember seeing them around. Stupidly though I didn’t pay them much attention at the time being much more interested in those lovely old Plaxton bodied Bedfords etc!

Once it arrives, I’ll put some more pics up. It’ll probably be the first bus I start actually messing with so some pointers might be helpful! You might see things missing or wrong I don’t.

Went down a bit of an internet rabbit hole looking for info on the Corgi Juniors SD1

https://hungariandiecast.blogspot.com/2009/12/diecast-toys-made-in-hungary-corgi.html

I think these are the origin of the blank base versions, I suppose it's conceivable that some of the ones we find here were made in Hungary - but there are some versions I've definitely never seen!

I wish somebody offered a rectangular-headlamp post-89 Futura in 1:43. I rate those among my favourite coaches of all time, looks-wise. That along with the Duple 425.

It wouldn’t be overly difficult to make the later rectangular headlight version from that partwork early type would it?

These are what I like! I’d love a model of one in 1:43.

JVE 370 P 15638 HNT 539V Vaggs

They are THE coach to me!
Lovely style to them and British. My old school backed onto a coach depot and I used to see these things coming and going constantly which is probably where my love of them came from, watching them all day! From some of the classrooms you could see them all parked up against the back fence. Pretty sure it was Castle Coaches.

I got a 1/43 Plastigam Norev Saviem bus from someone on here a few years ago and it's HUGE 😂 I thought it was 1/76 when I bought it.

It's been in my loft for years as I don't know what to do with it!
