How much did he bag them all for?

Fella wanted £10 so my Dad offered him a fiver as he was packing up, so he took it.

Probably don’t need to remind you that’s a bargain!

My Dad who is nearly 90 and still cycles to the local mid-week car boot loves a cheap find, here's his latest which he gave to me in exchange for a couple of radios i'd found for him (he collects radios!!)

The ones with yellow circles lived in my collectors case at one time or another between 1968 and 1976.

1:48 probably means you could get away with wheels from a 1:50 truck if they’re on the larger size or maybe smaller commercial wheels from a 1:43.
Or of course just find another Corgi/Dinky that’s been trashed and rob the wheels and chassis.

Honestly, the very existence of shit like those nominally 'diecast' cars upsets me. Churned out of a machine in China, carried halfway across the world on a big, fume-belching container ship, to ultimately fulfil only a brief and passing purpose before going into landfill in the UK. Also see 90% of what's in Poundland or available on Temu.

But... but... them's rare, them's Dinkys..

You've just done yourself out of £25 at St Georges' 2024 prices!

That was satisfying!

As @Split_Pin said sometime ago it’s funny how such a big fucking deal was made at the time as to how Days Gone were collectors items and it was Matchbox etc that was ‘mass produced shit’ 🤣

That was brilliant @bunglebus 😂 👍

Those cheap shitty Chinese things that barely even resemble a vehicle, let alone an actual type of vehicle really are the very worst. I don’t like DG stuff but they are far far worse. Absolutely shit!

They didn’t even put up any resistance to that mallet either, one stroke and pancake flat!

That little blue pickup almost completely disappears!😆

The orange ones funny too, watching it go flying past in the background!

I didn't realise the pickup was actually plastic, it exploded and prompted questions from the Mrs (who was talking to the neighbours over the fence) as to what exactly I was up to. Not the easiest explanation!

I don't think I can actually squish a Daze Gone, much as they're hateful things they do at least represent actual cars, and I'm sure they have a few fans. Those shitty Chinese things deserve death though

You know, they're a bit flat - but two look like they could be saved if you really put your mind to it

I'm not having that

Good job the wall and patio are getting demolished tomorrow

Most satisfying.

Any clue what on earth that orange one was actually supposed to represent?

Did anyone see the Hydraulic Press channel episode where he fired Hot Wheels cars from a cannon into a concrete block? Obviously I am not advocating the use of Hot Wheels but it was a cool stunt!

Astonishingly, I think its meant to be a Merc 300SL gullwing!

Is the white one behind a Fox body Mustang?

Roll on the Days Gone @bunglebus  🤣

Literally. Get something heavy like a garden roller and actually roll over them.

Crikey, I think you're right. Yeah, I think the white one is having a go at Foxery; the c-pillar vents are the clue. The others are presumably Lancia Stratos and Lotus Esprit (or possibly Maserati Boomerang, but who knows?).

Just for @bunglebus Cortina’s now have gingercators!

It’s that Tamiya orange tint paint. Works really well actually over clear plastic or silver base paint.

Quick & easy job on this Bond Mercedes 200D.
Lovely paint colour as it comes so I won’t be painting this one, but the snow chains on the back wheels need deleting.

A few minutes of gently scratching away at the rubber with a fingernail and the printing they used for them just scrapes off.

‘It’s only the original paint once’

’Its almost 60 years old’

Etc etc…

Should I restore this old beast? I was thinking of restoring it as a Spanish Calor Gas type delivery wagon or one of those trucks they deliver pop in.

I would say that's ripe for restoration/modification. It's already missing original parts and it's not like it's a very rare model.

Haha, I remember that one! That ally home made body is an odd thing. Looks like they put a bit of effort into it with the little clips to go into the original bed.

I say restore it/customise it! They’re a really nice casting of the TK cab.

Unless it's rare and nicely patinated then I'd always say restore it.

The only exception is if the play wear has sentimental value. A few of my late dad's Dinkys and are rough/repainted although nonetheless intact and as it was him who created that I'll leave them alone.
