I bet they are sick to the stomach in that eBay bulk sale..

Purchases from a 1:1 car show I popped along to this morning:

IMG_0825.JPG.060d88bfa6343a186bb1e0e74ff17a30.JPG

Most/all seem to be US releases, the guy had brought a load in.

Also found time to get all the Majorette 1/60-ish camions together:

IMG_0826.JPG.4370b8f6fe4e2cc4ce50476aaafc5b0b.JPG

The one that started it all is the boat transporter, which came from a French holiday in 1980. It was only fairly recently that the mast disappeared, may still be lurking in the bottom of one of Master SL's toy boxes....

They're a nice size, pretty close to Matchbox Superkings and not far off Siku.

And my trio of Shinsei Mini Power trucks:

IMG_0833.JPG.3483047787b086fe4c2ebb727ecc9c8c.JPG

Weighty and well-engineered with various working/moving features.

Found time to do a bit on a couple of 1/24 kits, reportage to follow tomorrow.

A decent bit of progress being made on the current kit projects:

Humbrol (Esci) Fiat that I first built in the early-mid '80s, then for some reason got attacked with yellow aerosol and left in the parts box for years and years.

IMG_0837.JPG.a7ada87f992ad3ddba85174f0e8b1d28.JPG

Stripped and now going through a repetitive cycle of fill, sand and prime. Just one more round to go, hopefully. Back in the day I got sent a load of replacement parts when I had a problem putting it together, so I don't have to rely on re-using everything from the original build.

Lots of primer then first coats of colour going down on the Tamiya Nissan Fairlady ZG (similar to but much more detailed  than the purple Fujimi version I recently completed):

931 Ochre, same colour as the 1:1 Datsun 1200 I had a few years ago. Assembly of this will be much easier due to the arch flares etc being separate mouldings, they've all been painted metallic grey:

IMG_0838.JPG.e83157dfe15fbd61db934ddf9bfaa00b.JPG

The correct way would be to remove all these parts then laboriously fix them to cocktail sticks or whatever to paint them. However, in most cases the attachment points are sufficiently hidden that I can snip them off afterwards and just touch them up (hopefully).

IMG_0855.JPG.27a40a065acdaea6e1ecfbefe77809ba.JPG

I'm building this one as hi-po restomod so it's getting the RB26 engine from a Skyline GT-R, converted to RWD. A little more work required on the mounts but it fits OK so far - it's of similar physial size and I'm just replacing one straight-six with another.

A tiny bit of clean-up and more coats of paint required on the outer bodywork, but at least now I can see what it's going to look like and I can get on with the interior, suspension, engine installation etc.

Went to the boot sale again today as the weather looked alright, and I had cars to pick up from the young lad who runs a stall there.

Not many sellers, and it did start to rain after a while too.

Still, came home with some bits

Some of those Matchbox Collectibles casting were used under the Hot Wheels banner.

These never came out of the box as it looked impossible to do it without damage, and being a number limited series I left well alone. They turned out to be not as sort after as the original Matchbox versions, but these were the only ones I have seen.

1970 Chevelle.

1 of 5000 pieces, so they are probably fairly easy to find on the interwebs.

I've managed to finish up some of my current projects.  Remember this, from the charity shop?

100_0913.JPG.914ac6515355415061e054d2be3dc107.JPG

It looks rather different now...

All ready for some heavy-recovery work now.  The police CF was an AA van once, but is now the first police vehicle I've painted in this shade of blue; a substitute for the Ford Galaxy Blue I was using before.  We also have some screen cars...

Dinky police Volvo becomes Lovejoy's car, and at least is a (correct) 265 unlike the smaller Corgi Junior I did recently.  The blue Charger is from Christine, driven by Arnie's buddy Dennis.  Also...

Ex-Kojak Buick suits BL Tara Green, I think!  It works on the old Cresta too.  And the Buick joins a little fleet here....

No, that's a 145.  You can get a model of it but not at any price I can afford.

Still needs clearcoat. I chose this shade as it's reminiscent of the Olio Fiat rally cars - it's being built as a hi-po road car, so I can do what I like. I'm imagining it's what the team gave one of their drivers as a thank you.

Oh dear , i forgot  the rear view mirror on the Civic .... it'll have to come apart again

Well done. Can see you’ve added plate too. The only pics found are quite washed-out ‘VHS’ quality, unsurprisingly.

It made me smile at the time, as a friend’s family ran an antiques business for a few years and ran a succession of Volvo estates. They even had a 245 in that yellow that I drove over for it’s late-life respray. It was an old crate and drove like one, so I questioned why they spent on it and he explained it was a perception thing: You don’t turn up to buy antiques from rich people in a rich car, but you have to look like you care. Life lesson.

Car boot yesterday a complete waste of time, even the kids who are normally like they’ve got money burning a hole in their pocket didn’t buy anything, it was just full of nobheads trying to bum you out of a fiver.

Didn’t come away empty handed though! 2 x Matchbox Jaguar XJ220 purchased.

I had one of those. It annoyed me as it's way too wide for its length - imagine it as a standard 4-wheel Range Rover and it'd be almost square! Length and height-wise it's about the same as the Oxford Diecast version (so around 1/76) but far wider. Somewhere in one of my boxes of random bits I have a resin shell cast from one narrowed to the correct width.
