I removed a Proton from its plastic garage so I could have a closer look

Thought there might be an easter egg hiding inside but there's nothing.

RHD though so a nice UK spec one may be on the cards - think I'm going to try and make this one look stock rather than custom

Late to the Commer party. Here's some of the Lion Toys Walkthroughs I've had over the years.

By the way, the boxes usually have Nr 55 on them, but the base always has Lion Car No 49.

Arrival.

I've been looking forward to this one ever since it was announced by Corgi Model Club.

Despite delivery issues delaying the models being posted out (it was meant to land in mid-November), it's finally here.

IMG_20231205_1615572.thumb.jpg.1567397feca8ca564d2210d1b404453e.jpg

Oh, this is nice.

It's so dark outside that I've had the lights on all day, which doesn't make for great detailed pics - will try to take some later...

well that goes to show geography- your cert is 40 before mine but i got mine Saturday!

As people are on here are no doubt aware I am a sad Land Rover enthusiast. In addition to my 1/1 scale model (sitting slowly filling up with water) after a 50 mile round trip with a trailer into Wales, I have a fair collection of diecast models. But Hotwheels have really excelled themselves here.

I don’t understand how a US manufacturer can keep making so many brilliant toys of what must be fairly obscure vehicles in the US. But I’m really glad they do. This, and that lovely Matchbox Opel Kadett Datsuncog sent me might be my favourite little toys cars ever.

Here’s a few pics of the Sierra L. A mini review, if you will!😁

Cheers! Yeah, I'll be getting one of those. I have the Ghia; badges, Latin American bumpers and headlamp washers aside, it's a perfect replica of my dad's old 2.0 Ghia (A794MEW), and I reckon the most accurately captured miniature Sierra yet. The aero wheel trims are a bit too blobby, though; I'd rather like to swap them with the pepperpots from a Vanguards XR4i.

The L's wheels look close to the base model's steelies in terms of design, but they look a bit on the big side. And they're a bit too chromey. Lovely model, though, nevertheless.

Dmitriy Shakhmatov designed that Land Rover, as well as the Defender 90 and Classic Range Rover. I thought it might have been ex-pat Fraser Campbell who brought us the Fish'd and Chip'd Jaguar, Lotus Esprit, Cockney Cab taxi,  Transit Connect, Escort RS1600 and RS2000, 240 Drift Wagon, 73 Civic, Alfa GTV6, Honda Super Cub, 71 911 Carrera RS and 928S Safari, Trouble Decker, Proton Saga as well as the upcoming M3 wagon and Jaguar MK1!

Yes that definitely meant to be a Pontiac Fiero

Also had that Chevrolet Monza (with Marina door handles)

20210203_205454269_iOS.thumb.jpg.baaa773bc1ebb29335c63b3595d5c49b.jpg

It was filthy and seized.  So took it apart cleaned all the muck off and got it working.   There was half a Mars Bar of gunk in there.

20210203_205516834_iOS.thumb.jpg.49684acb41c917753bb377ffc9401eda.jpg

You push it forward multiple times (it's very stiff) so it gathers energy in its flywheel, making a right din.  Then push the button on the top and it releases a clutch and it FLIES !!!  ...off towards the skirting board to chip another chunk out of it.  Hard.  I now know why most of the ones have bumper/grilles pieces missing.

No one else wanted these two so I got them for the opening bid. Peugeot 106 from Vitesse and a Vanguards Vauxhall Cavalier.

Today I made use of the opportunity to revisit the little collectible toys shop I popped into last week.

IMG_9161.thumb.JPG.72a6a07154311838edfb8f18474591a3.JPG

It was the Greenlight Patrol I was particularly keen to get:

IMG_9163.thumb.JPG.608070ed792c8287c55dcb68948f60f5.JPG

Could do without the Gulf colouring, but it's a very nice little casting. @bunglebus they also had a couple of Greenlight Type 3 VW Squarebacks.

Most of the loose 1:64-ish stuff came from a 50p tat box:

IMG_9167.thumb.JPG.da272d3e3e4c03b65456e710babed66e.JPG

Apart from the HW Mercedes, which was in the £1 box:

IMG_9162.thumb.JPG.b82a88268a7755c35c6f57a6dc331bbf.JPG

Didn't realise Majorette did the Giulietta. Now keen to find the non-police version.

Nissan ZX feels like it should do something exciting, but it doesn't.

Good to have a bricks and mortar shop selling this kind of stuff in a market town high street.

Cadillac Seville. Another part work car, not quite as good as some of the more recent ones though.
I suspect it’ll look better in a different colour with a thinner paint so the details aren’t half hidden.

That white ZX looks really familiar - I don't have it but I have something similar. There's a button hidden in the rear window area.

What make is that one?

I haven't, yet.  I probably should, because there's one I should be reproducing from a film, but so far I've resisted.  I think the problem is, the two I have are just a bit too nice to strip.

And slightly more in focus in real life.

But the Tat Stall was alive, and busy being Nemesis'd.

A box of assorted diecast tat lay across one of the bins, having already been comprehensively picked through by m'learned friend.

IMG_20231208_0731302.thumb.jpg.9d24bd6c039be6c74b17effc58a09ad8.jpg

There appeared to be some familiar items from last week's box, though also a whole heap that were new.

I rummaged in vain for the pink Hot Wheels truck requested last week by @bunglebus, and the Majorette 4Runner which @Spottedlaurel was keen on, but alas they weren't to be found.

IMG_20231208_0732162.thumb.jpg.722eedacdf0e2e4f6bfcefa16e417404.jpg

There were rather more Lesney items in amongst the Days Gone and Maisto this week - though not necessarily in terrific shape.

IMG_20231208_0736582.thumb.jpg.d8ce4117aa4a70f517f1b4854ba8a4cc.jpg

Pity.

IMG_20231208_0735512.thumb.jpg.4ee562c33e3f9adbf4cbdc6f34449139.jpg

Super Kings AA six-wheeler tow trucks were in okay shape - but they're not hard to find in this sort of condition.

IMG_20231208_0737252.thumb.jpg.34d85c479c3df2fd839b55449384a78c.jpg

Corgi Merc a bit less happy.

IMG_20231208_0733092.thumb.jpg.3fc7fbad1d753c5b74889f368e0b2f23.jpg

Big(ish) blackwalls Hot Wheels crane wasn't one I'm familiar with; sadly some crucial bits seemed to be missing.

IMG_20231208_0736012.thumb.jpg.88a355e814e0bfab9b52a3bb79261cf8.jpg

Plus added camera shake, just because.

Lesney King Size Scammell crane was in slightly better nick, with just a couple of tyres needing replaced.

IMG_20231208_0738322.thumb.jpg.1f618d6d2890f5bda5d2664c0969662f.jpg

Later Universal-era Matchbox fire appliances may have been part of a Convoys set - I think my brother might have had these.

IMG_20231208_0740242.thumb.jpg.90c47f70f121c9df9972604d595915f4.jpg

Tidy enough, but not quite mint.

Majorette Bernard tipper with the porthole window was a bit knocked-about, with epic axle shonk.

IMG_20231208_0737582.thumb.jpg.f953a5d8ff66f5f59468df6d5bc55374.jpg

More cranes appeared, in the form of this recent-ish Siku...

IMG_20231208_0744012.thumb.jpg.3977ae7c8c38c46f26ed53011c40ced7.jpg

And these rather poor Corgi-badged generic sportsters with London 2012 Olympics tampo print.

IMG_20231208_0743592.thumb.jpg.fdffe2e1b111ca94ebe09dbf8e1e05c4.jpg

Mmm...

It's good, but it's not great...

A nice comparative study in smol Mettoy Guy petrol tankers presented itself...

IMG_20231208_0740482.thumb.jpg.26b9084804f2c0ef9b706c681fca5ca4.jpg

Later-era Husky with the metal base and all-plastic wheels; early Corgi Juniors with a metal base and plastic-tyred metal wheels; and late Juniors with plastic base, Whizzwheels and the front end modded so it no longer had a separate grille.

IMG_20231208_0741012.thumb.jpg.3543377afd54eb6f8a4f233bd30ac1ce.jpg

Interesting to see that although the detail had declined badly by the mid-70s example, it's the only one to be accurately marked as a Guy tanker.

I thought I'd found an early plastic-base Husky version in the box to make it a full house, but it turned out to be a slightly different milk tanker.

IMG_20231208_0741202.thumb.jpg.d362e6b8f067fc96ef0306f83a742c83.jpg

You can see the size difference here too, as Husky scaled up towards the end of the 1960s.

IMG_20231208_0741272.thumb.jpg.b975c84dd4d180b671864d22acc21ef5.jpg

Interesting, but they were all pretty worn - so I didn't.
