Will you be adding a black roof by any chance!?

It doesn't need two roofs.

They did rot though, so you might have a point.

First seen on late-'66 Chevelles, just for the Super Sport (big block 396), to match the grille accent colour (satin black).  '67 Camaro SS396 followed.

redsscoupe.jpg.f9b6daf3e10ffa66a053a145ee94196d.jpg

Ford UK applied the idea to the '67 Cortina 1600E

Triumph followed for the 2500 PI restyle for 1969.  Made most famous in UK on the full-panel blackout for 1971 Dolomite Sprinting

Earliest I can find is the 1964 Alfa Romeo TZ1

I wasn't a fan of this for a long time but it's grown on me20231109_183415.thumb.jpg.ebfef5fbdf8434a1f34ef9845a223bda.jpg

It's complete apart from crumbling tyres,& the poodles which I wasn't too bothered about anyway.20231109_183431.thumb.jpg.54d1cd305b00990c5f16a7510f146671.jpg

The suspension has dropped, but at least it's the same all round. It would be a shame to drill it apart.I'll look for some tyres at the toyfair next week20231109_183441.thumb.jpg.5dfd107055edb6b10b8eb49ce3f3afb0.jpg

I wonder if there was a real vehicle like that,it seems an odd choice to use as a base for a dog carrier

I've been avoiding Smyth's, so as to not be tempted by the fancy stuff, only for Sainsbury's to trip me up.

Never seen anything. This is close - why did they loose the iconic tail lights?

The sky blue version is very much like the Marranello Concessionaires colour scheme from 1964 onwards. Here's a '64 bodied GTO and a 250 LM.

Why did they put a sausage dog on the front  of a poodle wagon?

The Kennel Club one is more believable.

The Italian manufacturer Best (also known as Bang and Box) did quite a few TZ models, all with coloured rears.

Had a little jog up to Poundland on a break today, nothing too exciting but I picked up another Datsun 510 as the colour was especially blue - hard to capture pearl in a picture, I'll have to put them side by side to show the difference

Is this any use to anyone as a donor/resto project for the price of postage (likely a couple of quid)?

Bare metalled these two this afternoon.

Fresh out the sink after a soapy wash off.
The Minor is a great looking model, Matchbox really did a good job with it imho.
Chevy still has a few bits of yellow to scrape off but it’s looking much better like this than yellow!

It’s not so much the eyes, but it’s yet another hot rod from hot wheels! The shape of the car looks so much better in factory colours and styles imho. I’m not a fan of the wheels either if I’m honest!

The roof on the Morris looks a tad high. 😄

It's a nice casting I do like the quarter light detail but the grille could do with a bit more depth.

I painted a Mooneyes Fleetline mainly because the casting lines on the front wings and boot lid where rubbish. It's a shame the newer casting has the cowl vent in the plastic windshield and none removable sun visor.

I must admit, I did think about taking a die grinder to that sun visor! I’m not sure it’s worth the hassle really. I was looking at pics on Google earlier and there’s loads of them around with the sun visor fitted. It does look a bit oversized though.

Depends if the windscreen shape is compromised by the visor. I did a La Troca and took the visor off but had to fill and paint the glazing as it's shaped to fit under the visor
