Had to look that up

Reckon that's quite valuable now, the first 1979 release anyhow

Hot Wheels Service Center Playset

I wondered who Mike and Ted were.  I looked up on the designers list but none match from that era.

Another couple of things for the collection I'm still not sure about arrived today20231023_202514.thumb.jpg.89fd105f98fcd6cd19a601589ae6f515.jpg

That looks better than mine you did well to get them. These are great the crane is so heavy and just real! Also I'm jealous of the cage, I've bid on three so far and not won any!

You can get a repro ratchet, I just decided to be a cheapskate! I made one from aluminium sheet glued to a bit of soft iron wire, then glued onto the stump of the original. I'll see if I can do a template for you, but may be in a few days time as I'm out until at least Thursday. I also made the hook although I think the Steve Flowers one is pretty cheap anyway.

^^ Lone Star Alfa Romeo got scale measured here

Paragraph 4

measures to approx 1:51, so perhaps it was intended for the larger Roadmasters range rather than Impy?

So did you work out what would be suitable replacements for the steering wheel and windscreen?

As for scale, that is a bit of a strange one and doesn't fit with anything else I have, but I believe your workings much more that Van Cleemput as he states the scale of the original Corgi 318 Elan as 1:42 & the 319 detachable chassis Elan as 1:40!

Do you know the scale of the Dinky Sprite?

The Big Book says

MGB GT 1:45

TR2 1:44

MGA 1:45

I always considered the Dinky Sprite to be around 1/48, but I could easily be wrong.

Thanks!,I did remove the rear part of the cover over the mechanism hoping that I could just pop in a new ratchet, but it looks like you have to dismantle the whole truck. It did come with a hook, but it fell off while I was fiddling with it & I've dropped it on the floor & lost it twice already 😂

These weren't mega cheap,I think I paid just under £19 posted after an offer from the seller, but as you said, the trailer seems quite hard to get hold of on its own

One of my favourite finds yesterday.

Spot on Volvo 122s.

It is a repaint, but done quite nicely.

Couldn't leave it,even though it wasn't particularly cheap....

Opening sunroof is a nice touch.

Lidl say they'll have Hot Wheels in-store from Monday 30th October.

Or at least, they will over here, anyway. And probably not these exact ones - I know from experience they seem to use any old library pic to illustrate Hot Wheels in their flyers.

Could this be a chance to nab some from the latest release case?

As we've no Aldi branches and the big supermarkets seem stuck on earlier cases, I'm vaguely hopeful...

Browsing YouTube this morning, I found a reference to a film I'd not seen - Corvette Summer

Movie Car from Mark Hamill's "Corvette Summer" Being Auctioned - LSX Magazine

Do we think someone at Matchbox may have been a fan?

I watched Corvette Summer when I was 9 or so. I liked it because "really cool car", but I had no real idea what it was about. On rewatching 20 or so years later, I realised that it was an absolutely dreadful film, and that the car isn't really all that, either.

I had a Tomte-Laerdal Renault Floride as part of a bigger collection, now long gone, but I can't seem to put my hand to a pic of it.

Tomte Toys body colours

So this library pic'll have to suffice.

Mine was missing the rather-too-upright windshield and also, I seem to recall, the driver's head...

Really pleased to find the Q case in Aldi - no Super in the 6 boxes I looked through, but the regular version was in there. Drift stuff is a bit hit and miss but I do like the colour - I think the blue glazing will work better for customising too
