About that. Here are the trio lurking in the back of my display case

I love that display!

I need to look out for the red Mustang as it would look great with my white one. I didn't know the Crapi came on the blue transporter, I have one in that colour so more to look out for. The transporter I liked the least was the white & gold one so I'm more than happy with the bright green (my favourite) one. I think Mrs Concern has a Sand Cat I could borrow if I wanted.

I'm intending to go to a toy & model fair on Sunday, so PPE at the ready!

One of the worst hazards however is the attitude, Mrs Concern gets treated as "the little women" mostly and asked things like " have you seen the toy pram over there?" haha!

@danthecapriman I love the Commer van! Please remind us of what paint stripper you're using as it does seem to do the job!

Its the cheapest brand one that came up on eBay in a box of 3 cans I think.

The Commer’s original green paint inside took longer to dissolve but still went. So far the best way I’ve found to do these is a couple of coats of this, wiping off the mess in between, then gentle scrub with a wire brush.

Sadly, I can confirm that.  They also have deep pockets and exactly zero manners.

Sad watching grown men push kids aside. Smelly bastards.

Not really that bad at those I've attended.

I think maybe as we never get there until a bit later everyone's calmed down a bit!

No kids and apart from Mrs Concern the only females have been serving tea and coffee!

I think I'll try and get some of this and only use caustic soda on stuff that doesn't matter (that's most of it though to be honest haha)

I’ve been so tempted to try caustic soda but it scares the crap out of me tbh! I’d be pretty upset to damage one of these. As far as I’m aware that spray on stripper doesn’t do anything to the metal castings. Although it stings like hell if you get it in a cut!

I have to say I was really impressed with the way the caustic worked so fast and so thouroughly on stuff that the Rustins stripper wouldn't touch

I did only go near it with apron, goggles gloves and a big stick tho...

Now Tat Friday© is over, I thought I'd show this Hot Wheels redline Python I got the other day. It wasn't in bad shape for 50+ years old

20231018_091855.thumb.jpg.23abeb3f87d94321aa2de9428cb652d4.jpg20231018_091913.thumb.jpg.2864e5bba20866841bf7e61399d04f54.jpg20231018_091846.thumb.jpg.7a2db5363d639ae5127036847fcf8732.jpg

But I thought I could tidy it up a bit.

20231019_162628.thumb.jpg.9c68bf274c76db3e4edbca591b70a4be.jpg20231019_162619.thumb.jpg.b0b4da54621f846c9b646870de08d500.jpg20231019_162635.thumb.jpg.de71fb8b9c681791721eb1495d4dd769.jpg

Sunshine failed to appear in the later pics, but I used some clear red Humbrol on the worst of the chips, black paint pen on the roof and a bit of Molotow on the wheels and engine.

As ever the pics don't make it look its best, but it's quite a pleasing difference

The Python was supposed to be called Cheetah but the name was changed prior to the launch of Hot Wheels, you can see on the base where the change was made. Find one that still has Cheetah on it and retire early! Maybe

I can appreciate these things now, but this sort of thing is why I never liked Hot Wheels when they came out and stuck to my Corgis. As has been discussed before I didn’t like fantasy cars or even cars I didn’t see about so when my friends got Hot Wheels (and I think I remember that model as being a bit like a Corvette only wrong!) I steered clear and swapped the few I got as presents for Corgi & Dinky toys!

Nice resto job btw!

I have found  these kinds of traits to be even more prevalent in the sellers which is why I stopped going to swapmeets.

Another one of those odd special series coming from Hot Wheels...

I like the RS1600 and VW Squareback castings - but I don't think I'll lose any sleep not having these two!

It's a fairly slapdash repaint, but quite striking nonetheless.

Based on a real AA Traffic Control Unit with a Seddon cab? I hope so.

The Budgie came in two versions

One with windows at the top

and one without

Managed to win a bid on a K148 Mercedes Hi-ab last night, £4.20 which I didn’t think was bad given I’ve been looking for one for an age.

I had to look that one up, it’s not I’ve ever seen before.
Just needs a Superkings/Speedkings Capri on the back painted up as a banger!

That's cool, I occasionally see their military VW stuff pop up. Think I've got a KDF with a roofrack of theirs somewhere, nicely done if you like that sort of thing

Hebmuller had a good working relationship with VW in the early days post WWII, making a few different version such as this for the police, and the famous roadster - sadly the factory went up in flames and they never recovered. Karmann also worked closely with them and finished the last few cars that could be salvaged

I've had a few of the Victoria range over the years.

They were a poor seller I think plus they were 88-89 only. That and being converted to banger spec means they’re few and far between. I remember seeing them in the 1989 catalogue a few years later and really coveting one, never found one out on my travels.

Minichamps did the Hebmuller Cabrio early in their production. It has bee released in various colours and in open and closed configuration. Being an early issue and a VW they can be quite pricey on the used market.

Early versions come in a silver box. Note this has the MIN prefix. Also it has a 0 at the end of the number, which means it was the first colour way for this version.

DSCF6309.thumb.JPG.250a483dbf6106048a441910579a4d1a.JPG

The closed version has a 4 at position 5. This ends in a 1 so is the second colour in this version.

DSCF6312.thumb.JPG.b63677c3ebe35579f96fbbba9e308c76.JPG

Later versions come in the black box, this being the 6th colour way for the open Hebmuller. Also note this has the 430 prefix, with usually denotes 1/43rd scale. The eagle eyed will notice that this later version has an incorrect dash from a much later Bug. Even if Karmann had used the new 1952 dash on the last cars produced it still would not have been the one modelled here.

DSCF4497.thumb.JPG.fea4a1dc8d47b748055c7668103d42e3.JPG

Finally here's a bonus Samba. These are also a bit spendy on the used market.

But what for? They’re £2.40 in the Entertainer, which realistically are the only people that actually restock them, then they’re selling them on for £6-7 delivered. What are they making? 50p? 😂😂😂

They are getting to them so early, they aren't even making it through the till.  So, they are making nearer £2.90 per item

Technically it is based on a real car, albeit a one-off - the Car Craft Dream Rod

Which was later restyled into the Tiger Shark, although I can't find a picture of anything but model kits...
