Just ran back up the thread

Its gobsmacking what you get in that Essex boot sale.  This part of the world, and many place travelled Dorset Sussex Devon Somerset I never see that sort of thing. Usually babies clothes, stock bulk training shoes, pilfered Xboxes and mainly recent HW and shedloads of Days alone

Guiloy? Never seen one!

I think you’ve to pick what car boot you go to, there’s a few near us but it’s full of folk that have got nothing to start with, so it’s piles of dead folks clothes, broken tools, redundant kitchen gadgets etc. Ideally you want to find one where they are half decent off.

Lately I’ve just gone to the Swapmeets, the one near us is ok, the prices aren’t too wild all things considered.

More Peugeot action, this time from IXO

A German Polizei 404

At first I thought this was odd as the Polizei are found of the Mercedes and Porsche vehicles. But then I found this picture on the interwebs of a 304 from the same area of Saarbrücken.

That's why we sacked Dunton off - it's massive but not in an especially wealthy area. 50% are market traders too

That reminds me of lots of pain in my foot getting out of bed after not putting my toys away first!

Ever stood on one of the little orange traffic cones… that’s pain!

Can anyone advise what is the best stuff to use to stick to a die-cast shell that will set hard and be workable i.e. sand it down?

I’d use wob but it sets too quickly.

You can buy modelling filler but I always seem to have problem with tiny holes in the finish when I use it.

could try that stopping filler/knifing putty stuff maybe?

Thanks. I have an idea for something I’ve  wanted to do for a while but was never sure what to use.
I was thinking of the brown stuff car manufacturers use for prototypes.

This is exactly what I find with Falkirk car boot sale. Last week was an exception with the 1/18 cars but normally as Sierraman said its just rubbish on a detour to the bin. The organiser even admitted on the Facebook page that market traders get priority when booking and setting out. I'd never even dream of selling there now.

Or one of the other epoxy modellers putties. Magic Sculp does not harden for 2 hours, so it gives you plenty of time to move it around.

More info here

Another one is Milliput. I've used the standard version in the past for white metal and resin modelling.

I have both the Majorette and the above and would never have guessed its an upscaled copy!

Maybe it isn't.  I've not had them together in my hands to compare properly so assume I'm talking shite for now as it came from someone else

Could you do photoshoot of the pair together to settle it?

Saarbrücken.

That explains it.  The Saar has been in and out of France over the years.

After the economic union with France was established and the French franc was introduced on November 20, 1947, the first new motor vehicles were purchased for the Saarland police. Yeah, more likely (if a copy at all) it would be the Polistil 1:40.  Doesn't look like it though

Another 404 today, this time from Vitesse. Not as good as the IXO version, but then was half the price back in the 1990s

DSCF9281.thumb.JPG.39953e484973ef92cc103cfd387b2bf0.JPG

The sides look a bit flat and the sills a bit deep.

From the back there is not much of a peak to the roof at the top of the screen

Oddest bit is the body colour headlamp rims.

Also found in other colours and Safari Rally versions.

I walk pass a traditional independent dept store on my lunch time walk at work, and today I pooped in for a mooch…. Which turned into a quick coffee..   which turned into a bap and a cappuccino…

It was particularly nice actually!

Of course I think - might as well have a look in the toy section whilst I’m here….…..

You can guess the rest 😂

So those 6000 steps ended costing £18 after all that….  sandwiches and sofa be safer and cheaper tomorrow 🤣

What have we here Mr. Postman?

An American Editions 33 Willys for a start. There are a couple of variations on this one, mainly black or silver bases - I managed to ruin my silver base while trying to clean a mark off the roof, which irritated me enough to buy this one. I had the black base version when I was young so it has a special place in the collection

Next up, an Alme Pug 604. These are a bit of an oddity, often resembling better known makes such as Majorette.

Lastly, recent discussion of Lucky lead me to finding another version of the Gruesome Twosome clone. Has a pull-back motor in this one

Ok, so the brake fluid had limited effect on the Dinky Transit van. It is working and paint has come off, it’s just so slow!

So, I’ve invested in a (hopefully!) more potent weapon to wage war with.

IMG_2667.thumb.jpeg.4b7bdaada0a860ce9e571ad98c0e855d.jpeg

I’ll give it a go later and see. If it’s any good it’ll be coming in handy for another project I’ve got coming! Which will certainly need stripping of its current paint job.

Pics to follow,

But I can confirm this is good shit! Sprayed it on and the old paint is shrivelling up and falling off within seconds.
Says to leave it for 15 minutes so we’ll see, but it’s looking good.

Edit;

Thats after it’s had a coat and stripped most of the outside, then flipped over and the inside done. Definitely better and much quicker than brake fluid.
