No, they still made these, Superkings and Yesteryears at Rochford. I’ve got just over a hundred Super GTs, I don’t know why but they have a really strange appeal to me, there are probably 3-400 variations.

Matchbox seemed very fond of that metallic red for a while. Are the Jag, Rolls and Cavalier all the same shade?

Two little oddities before I delve into Matchbox. I've asked before but who made this trailer?

Don't see much Budgie stuff turn up, often gets confused with Lesney Matchbox. Lovely little Bedford crane

This one looks same but is in fact different casting and confusion reigns.  This is the No.9 pairing from 1967-71 that reappeared in Multi-Packs as late as 1991

I had a dig into an old box of kits today and found a bit of Minichamps history. Here's a couple of old Minchamps kits made from before the Paul's Model Art diecast days.

First up is a rarely seen, or modelled, Group 5 Toyota Celica. This was driven by Rolf Stommelen in the 1978 DRM Championship.

I was never into military stuff as a kid, no Action Man etc for me. I've also never really seen the appeal of army diecasts, but there were a handful in the big box. This is definitely a new one on me, Major Pack Thornycroft Antar

Boing! A triptych of tat, courtesy of @FakeConcern.

Lesney King Size Mercedes ambulance is tired, but complete bar a tyre.

However, I'm not sure if it's so knackered that I can justify busting it open to fillet its glazing unit and wheels for my otherwise very tidy example.

Still, it gives me something else to prevaricate about for the next decade or so.

Trans-o-lite action Corgi Commer PB crew pickup is nice, though.

IMG_20230928_1528382.thumb.jpg.fe6f31386a9b776a0db475767f924733.jpg

Despite some (very neat) touching-up of the paint, it still looks like an authentically worn original.

IMG_20230928_1528442.thumb.jpg.7c4880d7aff29512dcb5e9d1ab3d537b.jpg

Crew bench still in place in the back, too.

Since I've now got several of these (I think this might be no.5), I was expecting to be able to indulge myself in some hot and heavy body-swapping action; but no!

IMG_20230928_1528502.thumb.jpg.1ccb4b1f2e2462c7ec78c578ea7f8d5f.jpg

This one isn't like all my others, with their little turny-clasps on the base to release or retain the rear body. No, it's all been sealed at the factory.

Never mind - it's still great!

But of course, the real show-stopper here is the Corgi 'Santapod Gloworm' Capri funny car.

IMG_20230928_1528122.thumb.jpg.67e24193c5865475df4ce385143cd72d.jpg

Although I've seen one or two of these before, they've usually been pretty trashed.

IMG_20230928_1529002.thumb.jpg.5efc805298ddc104cd00b6d97e924947.jpg

This one's been well-used, but not really abused. The paper stickers are showing evidence of their 50+ years, but the paint isn't bad.

IMG_20230928_1529222.thumb.jpg.d60a5e41d0ecde8f6a8d3cd99a55b1f3.jpg

I think the body's only meant to hinge at the back, rather than come straight off - a bit of warping at the hinge seems to have occurred.

I could try bending it back, but my track record on this kind of work isn't exactly stellar.

So I might leave it.

It's very nicely engineered though, with a pivoting spring-loaded catch at the front keeping it altogether.

IMG_20230928_1529132.thumb.jpg.a8887c3cc8d6b55f3c7ea764d8cec3e7.jpg

While I didn't have a lot of time to play with it today, I think I'll be coming back to it before long...

All in all - GR8 CELLAR WUD REKOMMEND

Cheers, dude!

I'm glad you liked them all!

The Commer I got at a boot fair and originally thought I'd keep it, but in the end my Commer Gift Set is all I need in that line. I was pretty surprised it still had the bench seat though.

The other two came in a small job lot and the Merc I knew I didn't want, but thought it was quite nice and someone on here would like it, I was right. The Corgi Glo Worm Crapi was one I'd seen the pictures of as a kid, but never seen IRL so I was keen to have this, but somehow I just didn't like it like I do the Corgi 3ltr Crapi and was wondering if the engine would look good sticking out of the bonnet sorry hood of a Corgi C3 Corvette. Glad I didn't do that now.

Finding a Moke with all the bits including the spare wheel is amazing!

I don't like the Corgi Vacuum coating siler finish, but absolutely love the Simca! I really want one of those...

This morning we went to a Toy & model fair and for the 1st time I bought more than Mrs Concern, not had a chance to give them awash or even look properly yet, but pleased with these

IMG_7691.thumb.JPG.1411e56b0ff8a3ae376ce01b9cce3fdc.JPG

The Matchbox KingsupersizeSpeedywheels were £8 with the Tonka Beach buggy thrown in, which was ok.

Mrs Concern has a Tonka BB in yellow, but missing roof and steering wheel.

I have both the Matchbox, but the Dodge is a strange pinkish orange not a nice bright colour like this one. The MustangII I have already is blue (or green?) but no where near as nice as this in condition or the colour, I;m very pleased with this!

The Dinkys were £4,50 each, I've never had either and both are really nice, just playworn enough how I like them.

The Corgis were also £4.50, never had a spun wheel P1800, I only have the Whizzwheels one I got for the Tri Deck.

The Zephyr police car is one I had as a kid and no longer have. I've been looking out for one at a reasonable price since becoming addicted so happy with this.

I didn't need the Corgi C2 Corvette as I now have quite a few, but this one with decals from some Arfix P38 Lightning or something is good with lights and suspension still working, It was 50p for this and the little Captain figure Mrs Concern got!

The Spot On Bristol isn't one I had and has a slightly distorted roof at the front, almost no paint and has also been repainted black, but I still really like it for £2.50. Is the paint especially likely to come off on Spot Ons?

@FakeConcern Most of my earlier Spot-ons (LWB Landrover, Bristol, Fiat Multipla, Jensen and Humber estate... the last three expired years ago) lost their paint in about 5-10 years but the later ones (vintage Bentley and MG sports car) have held on to their paint very well.

That's great about the caravans and the upcoming tat sale.

Hmm not keen on the futuristic transporter, but really like the red Mustang, I'll look out for one of those!

I found the other Mustang, I hadn't realised it has many differences apart from colour, air intake, side exhausts, parachute & rear quarter windows that I've spotted

Lastly, some VW stuff. Still not forgiven Datsuncog for not snapping up the Guisval Skoda buggy off the market stall, but I did find the Volkswagen version minus the screen pillars
