The Seville is my all time favourite Hot Wheels, I have the one with the rubber tyres on as well.

I believe it is. Unfortunately the grill is missing though.

Crikey that Seville is top of my pops! I didn't have this one as a kid but it was always present in friend's toyboxes. I also had a Matchbox C4 Corvette plus a few other makes so I'll be on the lookout for that too.

Just sorting everything out into sizes/manufacturers then I’ll start putting them on my sale thread again.

Awesome stuff.

Will keep a look-out for any further Matchbox King Size appearing on your sale thread - I'm still loving the D-Series flatbed, and it's made me remember just how much I like them!

Are these Heralds valuable? I have one that was my Dad's but it's pale blue over white.

I picked this up at the market in December 2021, but only got round to taking it out of the storage box and giving it a proper clean the other week. It's great. I really like this one.

The casting detail is so finely rendered. The towing boom's surprisingly intricate, but sturdy for all that.

Although far from perfect, this is in decent shape with just some evidence of careful use from its original owner: well-worn tyres suggesting plenty of play, but not many scratches to the paint or waterslide decals.

It had been on the 'to find' list for many years, so I was delighted to score this one for only a fiver.

Definitely another keeper!

That’s one of my favourite models in that range. I’ve got one but it’s rough! As you say, it’s a great looking casting.

I’ve put a few bits & bobs on my sale thread if anyone’s interested.

The main coarse will be served here tomorrow evening but there’s some scrap/spares items and a few trailers to be going on with for tonight.

@flat4alfa A few pages back you posted a pic of a box of die cast and said something like if anyone wants anything to let you know. I was a bit tired at the time so I saved the picture to look at later and I've just looked at it.

So do you want to sell stuff? If so has anything already gone/you want to keep it?

Depending on the response to the above I'd like the maroon Corgi Mini and the Sun Rally Mini, not really the one I want which is the Monte racing number 2 with signatures on the roof for my Transporter, but would make a good stand in for now!

Flat4AlfaStuff.thumb.jpg.827431d635d851fecfb676d1bac84eb5.jpg

No problem if already sold/you want them, just thought I'd ask and I enjoyed looking anyway!

Was in Tesco for a few things earlier, so thought I'd have a quick recce to see the lie of the land...

227067701_IMG_20230207_1729292.thumb.jpg.3b786ae3ed3146fa75047b390f315493.jpg

Hmmm... not great.

Matchbox are still the same case selection as late last year, and are now priced at £2 a throw.

235782207_IMG_20230207_1729522.thumb.jpg.62e3a0efd27416e70b53a279cc718d04.jpg

They were £1.50 last week. They're also the same models they had on the shelves then.

Bastards.

Also last week they had the dregs of the UK Collection long-cards - comprising the London Taxi and Jaguar XK120 - down to £1 as clearance. The peg's now gone for them altogether.

Hot Wheels weren't much better:

1988435974_IMG_20230207_1730122.thumb.jpg.40441f8ea0bd834d4278b733cb783dfb.jpg

A few items of interest still, like the Mustang III, but nowt I haven't seen before.

And up from £1.75 to £2.20.

Multipacks also suffering the effects of inflation:

459327549_IMG_20230207_1730262.thumb.jpg.36f958df2a56b419ee6d19a7e66f9aaa.jpg

'Electric Drivers' pack on the right is the one using all-recycled packaging, hence the opaque insert.

Kinda begs the question why they're not doing the same for all of them... Maybe they will, soon.

Hot Wheels still maintaing their premium status in the Mattel firmament:

1901662138_IMG_20230207_1730282.thumb.jpg.95f3e9efb0c881ccb4b88b4a77d974a6.jpg

Tenner a go.

Ouch.

Clearly, it's the turn of the 'new' Zuru Metal Machines to slot into Tesco's affordable toy range - at the old Matchbox price point.

1418475891_IMG_20230207_1730402.thumb.jpg.2d809726688e629b9fe9c939c08ecb80.jpg

Sigh.

Maybe the new arrangements will allow more retailers to stock Matchbox mainlines, and additional releases like the Moving Parts and Big Rigs ranges. Maybe.

The Tesco deal wasn't much of a friend to collectors - good riddance.

I picked these two up today too.

The BMW will have to visit Smoll Eddy's "One stop wheel swap shop" soon.

The Cadillac Seville in that colour holds a particular childhood memory for me.

In the early 80's we had some American family visit as they were on the way to the UK on business.

So they penciled in a visit to their Irish country bumpkin roots.

The business was to deliver a new Seville to London(I think) that had been converted to RHD. I later found out it was a chain drive conversion!

Now to a kid that was raised on ageing Avengers, crusty Cortinas and horrible Hunters, this thing was like a spaceship!!!

Huge,Shiny,powerful,leather seats,tinted glass,power everything!!!!OMG!!!

Of course we all got taken out in a drive,Smooth, quiet, supple and no rattles, the exhaust wasn't held on with wire,it didn't need to be pushed to start!!!

It took up the full width of the one track country road(with grass up the middle)

It caused great excitement and looks of bewilderment,(it certainly looked out of place parked outside my Great Grandmothers leaky stone Cottage)

All too soon we were back home and the next day that huge glamorous car glided off down the road, never to be seen again.

It made a huge impression on a car mad small boy,I wonder if it survived?Probably not,It lives now only in my memories.

So,yeah happy to find that one.

Nothing actually on the shelf yet, but hopefully a sign that things are imminent. Slightly salty price for an MB 5-pack though...

Here’s a few of the highlights of some of the things I’ve found in my job-lot boxes/eBaying that I’m keeping…

Dinky RAF pressure fueller tanker. I love this!

Including this fantastic Chrysler which still has its golf clubs for the trunk. Needs a windscreen which I’ve got ordered.

No cars with it but it’s a lovely truck.
There’s way more besides which I’ll get pics of later.

Crikey the Commer transporter must be the main money-back item on the lot eh?

Can also see Commer van chassis with TRANS-o-lite.  Don't tell Nicola Surgeon whatever you do

The Dinky El Camino is a smart one too. Took me a good while to get one as they sell well.  Play worn like that one, but they still get bid to £15

That El Camino is another one that frustrates me! It’s a nice looking model, looks great. But why oh why do/did manufacturers go to all the effort of designing and making them (which probably cost a £shitload) only to release it in only one colour scheme!?
An El Camino pickup would have looked awesome in so many other colours! And sold well too.

Posted

They do.  There's a Facebook page devoted to the various generations of El Camino and you get a lot of the 1959/60 models in an assortment of colours, all of which look pretty good.  I have a Dinky one (which is the 1960 type) that I restored in all-white; a subtle difference but I'm very pleased with it.

Didn't find the Facebook page, and quite pleased I didn't

But did find this https://diecastgems.com/dinky-449-chevrolet-el-camino to trigger the OCD

I do like that brown South African version! How nice does the real one look in plain red though. Why didn’t they make them like that? Seems strange to me. They could even have done hot rod style ones as became popular with Matt black and flames paint jobs etc. such a versatile model for colour schemes really.

The price differential annoyed me initially then I figured how little the extra 50p would get me in fuel to the Tesco. As it stands I’m likely to be in Morrisons anyway so it’s pretty much break even.

I was unpacking the boxes yesterday and came across these Matchbox King Size models, these are keepers as I don’t have them yet.

As I was going through the box I kept finding more of the little blue tractors. How many of these things does one person need, I was thinking to myself…

Then it hit me! I wonder…

Some bits turned up from one of the usual suppliers the other day.

This BP Alvis Stalwart was in one of my previous job lot collections. Don’t know why but I quite like it, so decided it was worthy of a little expenditure to bring it back around.

Easy peasy but improves the look 100% imho.

A few of the tyres need a dab of glue to hold them on as the hubs have worn down, typically of these age models. Pretty cool little truck though.
