Sorting is done, for now!

Brace yourselves for a 4 Sale thread tomorrow…

Its not going to be everything as I’ve still not found the second half of my own toys up in the loft, there probably will be some stuff I’ll sell in there. And, I’m waiting on another bulk box to arrive… which will need a sort through but does contain lots of 60’s and 70’s models.

Where do you lot want me to put the stuff I’m selling? On here or in a separate thread in the ‘for sale’ section of the forum? Up to you.

I had a couple of deliveries today. This one is a bit of an oddball...

But there is a problem

20230107_130023.thumb.jpg.7d0437bbfd003d690f90fc37323fd230.jpg

I knew about the missing tailgate, maybe I recreate something, probably more chance of that than finding another one - however a thread I found on Planet Diecast suggests it's a Dinky copy by Summer, so I may try and cannibalise one of those.

I have a spare Dinky SD1, tailgate is intact as I recall but it's missing a wheel and isn't especially tidy so will be an ideal donor.

Remind me before the 14th, still hoping to make it to Brentwood (but it'll be early-ish).

Shopping day today. Found the last few of a new-ish case of Hot Wheels in Asda.

IMG_20230107_211359.thumb.jpg.40bd87b11ebc67f21160d0528baa0eba.jpg

Nice Camino. Still looking out for the Corvette and Cadillac Seville from the '80s collection.

This seems to be a slightly different casting from the Tranny Connects I already have. Seems to have a plastic lower half now, and has lost its roof fins and gained a spoiler.

This was my favourite find though. Its a flipping great little thing.

I had some of the dragsters when they were new, including the Quartmaster, the Radio Luxemburg and the Glow Worm Capri.

Most of teh models were based on real cars that tore up the strip at Santa Pod.

Great page hear showing the Corgis and the cars they were based on.

Is that blue Police Mini a repaint? I've only ever seen the Dinky Cooper S in white, be it the original version with wheels and tyres, or the later Speedwheel version with cast boot lid surround and light box without aerial.

I’m not sure to be honest. I guess it must be as I’ve just checked a website I’ve been using to find colour variations etc and it doesn’t list that model in any other colour than white.
The later Clubman police car was available in blue, but obviously my one isn’t the Clubman. I’ll dig it out later and have a closer look. If it has been painted it’s been done reasonably well by the look of it. And they bothered to get some stickers for the doors too!

Likewise, does anyone has a spare Lotus Europa with the opening doors, unlike this later cheapskate Impy effort with the sealed doors?

I have an MC Toy Lotus Espirit in 1:38 that I think has opening doors if you are interested.

Yep I've been fascinated with hot rods, customs and dragsters since I was a kid, this year will be 29 years since my first visit to the Pod aged 16. These have their own shelf in my display cabinet

I started reading Hot Car and Custom Car in 1977. Then Street Machine and Hot Rod and Custom.

My last visit to the Pod was 33 years ago for the 1990 Bug Jam. I took my Ruby Red '63 Bug.

@MiniMinorMk3called it correctly!

The blue Dinky Mini is definitely a repainted one.

Looks a pretty good effort though in fairness, it’s been stripped down and painted inside too (roof interior is blue).

The giveaway though…

Doors are still white inside!😄 I like it though.

Funny enough I started reading Street Machine in 87 (age 10) and then all the other mags, Custom Car, Volksworld from #1 in late '87, anything I could get my hands on really. I went on to source complete collections of SM and CC with all the free gifts etc, plus loads of lesser known ones like Rod and Custom UK,  Hot Car, Auto, various US ones like Hot Rod, Rod and Custom, Hot VWs, VW Trends etc etc.

Then there was my Max Power/Revs/Fast Car stage, Ultra VW, if it was to do with modified cars 1970 onwards I probably had it.

Eventually I had thousands and decided it was getting too much, sold all the non-VW ones as a job lot to one guy. Sometimes I miss them but they took up a lot of room. Still have the VW ones but they need to go too really, might hang onto the older Safer Motoring ones from the 60s as they're an interesting window into the past.

Oh and my first Bug Jam was 93, my dad took me for the day!

Ok guys, I’ve created a 4 sayle thread:

I was going to put it all on here but I think in hindsight it’d just clog the thread and eventually get lost, so I’ve put it here^^

There’s a few items not there that people specifically asked for and I’ll let you know by PM that they’re available at some point soon.

Thanks for that, I remember going to Santa Pod in the 70's with one of those in my pocket hoping to see the real car. 😁

This thread moves on really fast, but I think I saw a bit about Corgi Land Rovers...

I found two Corgis and three Dinkys...

I started with Hot Car in 1971, then CC and the rest.  I've never been to Santa Pod.  I've also never been to a Bug Jam.  Pod: because poverty.  Bugs, poverty and tbh by the time Bug Jams became a Thing, I'd begun to realise how little I like crowds.

I well remember the Corgi dragster phase, but the only one I had was the Wild Honey, which I think was supposed to be an Austin Ruby, hotrodded of course.  This being my dangerously unhappy and unwholesome secondary-school years, it suffered and I eventually managed to destroy it.  I've since picked up a used one which lives on one of my many shelves.  It's not perfect but it's pretty good, with not too much playwear.  And it's still the only example I have from that sub-collection.
