I’m a bit like that with superfast Mercury Commuters. I must have got 20-30 of them, just like them.

I like those. Still don't have a really nice early Superfast one.

Apparently the green with wide Superfast wheels is a hard one to find.

This one seems to be my obsession casting

often see those and reject them due to the broken grille. How hard/involved is the resin casting?

I don't do hard or involved,I just take a plasticine mould from a good unbroken model, then just fill it in with fiberglass resin,I just use David's stuff.

You may get the odd air bubble, but it generally works first go.

A bit of trimming and sanding is required, but I find for me it works well enough.

Strange how we seem to have a favourite casting that we always buy and hoard.

🤪

I had a superfast silver one. Never seen another, it wasn’t originally pink like a lot say it was a genuine silver. Perhaps it had been a colour trial.

Also gave the TK a clean and loaded it up ready to go in the cabinet. I must have had the MGB about thirty years and have never really appreciated it much before. No idea just what that is stuck to the osf wheel but it's tenacious. It's been lopsided as long as I can recall too.

I had that transporter and the MGB, probably around 1968. I had a Corgi Rover 2000 as well but see to remember it was a dark colour , maybe a later model as it had removable wheels and built in jacks . Also had a Corgi DS but it was a saloon or estate in two tone blue I think.

I’ve just done the charity shop circuit and didn’t find a thing. Looking forward to a few car boot sales next year.

That would be a rarity, only known colour trial is blue as far as I know

I have only one pre production. A Swing Wing Jet, in blue and grey. I think a few ended up boxed up and sent out, found mine in a box at a swapmeet full of Skybusters.

A few more. Found a K-50 in orange and green earlier - a variant that exists but this was green body with orange wings *edit* found it - wheels on this and the red/yellow car are different to production too

The VW 1500 is interesting as the casting is different around the bumpers

Ah, that didn't go too well. I forgot I had a package on its way...

I've drawn a complete blank on finding this one, this year. I do think it was the most eagerly awaited mainline of 2021. So I've cheated and got it from Ana, the HW seller on Facebook.

IMG_20211223_224441.thumb.jpg.a9cd43af8e0503567a22de354599c54b.jpg

Theyve done a really good job on the EK9 casting.

IMG_20211223_224320.thumb.jpg.2bd6c2fa792c67dab641c9e6246c9a16.jpg

So while I had the Civic ordered I thought I may get as well build a box up, and catch up on others I've missed. The Silvia looks nice in relatively un-messed with form.

IMG_20211223_224255.thumb.jpg.c18503226625d6a825069c086a902413.jpg

Of course I had to  have the Merc, but I really, really need to find the Signal red version as its the closest I'd find to a HW version of my old 190e sportline.

IMG_20211223_224553.thumb.jpg.2f8060149a065e89f6e192b6c7aa4ac1.jpg

After the small flurry of new releases, my local Tesco has gone back to being absolutely dogshit for Matchbox. So this is probably the only way I'll get this version of the BGT.

IMG_20211223_224627.thumb.jpg.d6da1d4c3f2a54faef8d8a107bb2bb9d.jpg

Still loving the rear end detail on this, great for the scale.

IMG_20211223_224650.thumb.jpg.3306ddc956c031a62a77648b9484dfb3.jpg

Only seen this as a premium packaged product as part of the Walmart- only Off Road series, (albeit in AS colours), looks good in I-cant-believe-its-not-Rothmans livery though.

IMG_20211223_224710.thumb.jpg.ede0f1c4e468bae4d97aa84d7950e49c.jpg

Been after the yellow Civic for a while, I was hoping Ana would also get some carded silver  Capris but even she has had problems getting them!

IMG_20211223_224735.thumb.jpg.4d5bce52e760a976307b3d1378b1bd02.jpg

Put this one in as a makeweight, but the Mazda 3 is one of my favourite modern cars at the mo (apologies).

IMG_20211223_224745.thumb.jpg.130fb1ed2e2b5d301f4b0b477db32d18.jpg

And it's nice to see so much care taken over the detailing on a bog standard family hatch.

IMG_20211223_224816.thumb.jpg.9bcfbacf65641d126511871900a86471.jpg

And it's a Merry Christmas and a tiny metal car-filled New Year from me to all miniature shiters. Looking forward to seeing what Santa has brought tomorrow!

Hardest part will be green glazing - but I have seen the clear model paints used to smoke these window units so if you can get some in green and a clear window you may be onto a winner

Happened to be up in Belfast yesterday afternoon, and noticed that St George's Market was running all week... Well, I only needed to find a lettuce, but thought it would be churlish not to take a little look around the stalls...

Initially there was no sign of Market Blokey's stuff, his usual stall being occupied by a jewellery place - but over at the next aisle, there he was.

Ohhh...

501162095_IMG_20211223_1337372.thumb.jpg.a3e54dfcd291043467f5fb099d3cc6fe.jpg

Seems that he has some new stock.

Not vast quantities, but there's quality to be seen.

Late-era Dinkys well represented by the Austin FX4 taxi, the Lamborghini Marzal (with aftermarket decals) and not a bad AA Bedford CF. The Corgi Hillman Imp was also in reasonable fettle, needing some tyres, while Lesney transporters could be found in '60s Guy Warrior format and '70s fantasy Superkings, still with its rear cover intact.

1619260592_IMG_20211223_1337375.thumb.jpg.28d3fd2b4b6e8caaeea5992a2fde8c37.jpg

More Dinky in the form of a Silver Jubilee bus (Daimler?), a Plymouth Plaza taxi, and an early Gerry Anderson SHADO Interceptor. Corgi Mini and Kojak Buick Regal have had a hard time of it, though the older VW Type 2 pickup was alright. Matchbox King Size ERF cement mixer and Scammell tipper were well-used but not dreadful; and I don't know who made the Batman aircraft thing...

And lo, a personal Christmas miracle...

154457529_IMG_20211223_1337332.thumb.jpg.66d417565130d188e8abd1b20b1a950f.jpg

I've been looking for a decent example of the Matchbox King Size Foden Wrecker for many, many years.

A totally knackered version is one of my stand-out memories of a primary school toybox (no glazing, no wheels, no jib, no paint); but any I've seen since have always been a bit too shabby, or else fearsomely expensive.

This one's just nice - not mint, but an honest example with very little paint wear and the waterslide transfers are mostly intact. Even the hubs don't seem to be suffering too badly from shrinkage.

At only a fiver, I couldn't bring myself to leave it... and I also snagged the Guy Warrior transporter for the same.

1197600287_IMG_20211223_1337373.thumb.jpg.e3cdd4af910eda223fe521ab08a042eb.jpg

So there we go - the end of what's been quite a frenetic year in tiny-tat... who knows what next year may bring, but it's been an honour to share it with so many of you.

A fine Christmas and New Year to you all!

Would be interested in rehoming that Plymouth taxi if it's not silly money. I had what you might call pre-Christmas diecast turn up, my uncle arrived yesterday with a lovely Matchbox BMC 1800 Pininfarina he'd found for a quid in a Nairn charity shop and I also had a delivery yesterday from Ramrod Diecast Distribution in the form of a tidy boxed Lone Star '61 Dodge Plodcoop and a very appealing Corgi Chrysler Imperial. Thanks again Eddy! We welcomed my Dad to our new house this evening having not seen him in 14 months and it was a delight showing him what's new in the cabinet. A very merry Christmas to my fellow diecast botherers.

Ooh...interesting! I have found a couple with canopies intact lately but none have the slide out part that holds the car in place. One to keep in mind if you ever return please!

The Dinky Marzal is also tempting if it's not eye-wateringly expensive.

Happy Christmas everyone

No diecast here either from Father Christmas, so here's some better pics of Thursday's unexpected market finds:

The Foden's swivelling tow hook is still attached, and the jib is undamaged (unlike the mangled one from childhood memory).

Since this is marked as a King Size rather than a Major Pack, I think this may be a later example - but I'll check that.

I've been after one of these for a while; he had a very banana'd one the exact same on the stall over the summer, and also a battered earlier green and red example a while back. I'm glad I held out for this one.

Hoping to dig my later DAF transporter out at some stage to compare the trailer castings. This one has a more involved rear folding mechanism than the 'hydraulic rams' on the DAF.
