Kicking myself for missing out on a cheap 1/24 General Lee on Vinted recently, specifically this one -

Screenshot_20260227-161914.Vinted.png.284c3915137039c666bd51b2340945a0.png

I'd have quite happily displayed this one as is, in all it's playworn and battered glory.

Basildon adventures today. Absolutely nothing new to be found, and Poundland have shut down suddenly too, landlord dispute apparently.

A box of crap arrived though, with nothing protecting the cars - I suppose I should be grateful for the box at least

Went to Rufforth autojumble on Saturday first time in years as they bumped the prices up and people stopped going, this time was a good one for miniature tat. 50p each for this mixed bag of goodies.

Best find for me is the Norev Floride looks to have a lump of metal for an interior.

The big blue Supra? thing is friction the makers mark is a shark?

The Camaro police car does wheelie doughnuts and Lotus goes like the clappers it shot right under the fridge first go.

I had the plastic tipper lorry as a kid, so that brought back memories of days out in the Lake District.

Had some eBay postal Russian roulette arrive today! Despite the gamble of brown wrapping paper slipped round a thin piece of bubble wrap they arrived intact 😳  Still at least eBay/seller only charged me only one postal charge so that was a win on an already very keen auctions price!

Shame the headlight and one mirror are AWOL. Amusingly my partner overheard the shop staff whispering to keep an eye on me as I'd picked it up and was standing right by the door without buying it. What I was actually doing was trying to get some phone signal to check my Flickr in case I had it already

Another shop had a load of partworks in the window, and this little Guiloy R4 van tucked away among them

The cheap Corgi Lamborghini Muiras I find usually have the spare wheel missing (or are the later ones with a wheel as part of the body casting) I'm trying to find enough to make a Golden Jacks version of one. I think I have three wheels so far.

It's taken a while for these to filter through to the local shops. For a while, there were only the crap castings like the doughnut available, but a few weeks ago, I found the Skyline in Asda.

IMG_20260307_131722.jpg.121890094f1653e276396999f0cb73f9.jpg

I was pleased to find it, as I've been intrigued by these XL Hot Wheels and the Skyline is the casting I really wanted from that mix.IMG_20260307_131808.jpg.4de91f49ae069bb9da0479bb9d5cf1ac.jpg

Like a few people, I'm not really sure what to make of these. As someone who collects both  1/64 ish Hot Wheels  and others, and really detailed 1/43 scale models, these are a weird mash up of the two. The 1/43 Premium range I can understand as the  level of detailing means they can stand up next to 1/43 model from other manufacturers. But these are literally smol Hot Wheels blown up to a bigger scale, and they seem to have gone to great lengths to deliberately make them faithful to their smaller relatives.IMG_20260307_131817.jpg.c1df5dfa26ed93809f3b0b264d49b44c.jpg

Detailing is still nice though, despite it being limited to tampo printing. And this Skyline is a really good casting anyway, being blown up to a bigger scale hasn't harmed it. I was tempted by the Supra but as mentioned on here, the lack of detail at the rear was off putting. But again, you have to remind yourself it's meant to be like that, as it's just a big version of the 1/64.

So, I was happy with the Skyline, it's a bit of a curio and at £6.47 for a 1/43 car, it's not exactly dear. But I couldn't see myself going for any more.

Then I saw the next mix that had come out, including the Merc W124 and BMW E30...

IMG_20260312_105950.jpg.ab56a6cbdab2f0284443167cf3e12a53.jpg

Asda obliged again.

IMG_20260307_205159.jpg.509dfc0acb0da19651b1ec52bf526338.jpg

One of my favourite smol Hot Wheels castings of recent times, I had to have the XL version. I daresay with a set of more realistic rims like a set of AMG Monoblocks from a Minichamps, this would possibly sit nicely with most 1/43 stuff.

Only slight problem with that is it still had the clear band holding the bonnet closed, and I've seen those stick to the paint on some 100% Hot Wheels cars, not good. Much as I appreciate originality, I carefully cut it off and no harm has been done

I've said it before, but it's very strange that these have a separate, hinged tailgate with a bit of trim added inside so you can't open it. I think on the custom versions with the chrome wheels they do open and reveal extra detail

It's taken a while for these to filter through to the local shops. For a while, there were only the crap castings like the doughnut available, but a few weeks ago, I found the Skyline in Asda.

And this Skyline is a really good casting anyway, being blowing up to a bigger scale hasn't harmed it.

Asda obliged again.

One of my favourite smol Hot Wheels castings of recent times, I had to have the XL version. I daresay with a set of more realistic rims like a set of AMG Monoblocks from a Minichamps, this would possibly sit nicely with most 1/43 stuff.

And I couldn't leave the Mustang behind. Love the colour on this one, though it's not as detailed as the others.

That was an expensive "just nipping to Asda for a couple of bits" trip on my day off!

The HW XLs seem to be aimed squarely at Bburago cars which are still made in that scale and basically detailed. Not something I'm attracted to unless a Saab 93 convertible showed up at an earthly price.

Charity shop had reduced the Meteor tin plate Beetle, so I brought it home.

Behold the awfulness

It's also FWD

Box used to say Metal Toy rather than Metal Cars, not really sure why they put the stickers over the original print

It looks like it’s been hammered from sheet metal. Reminds of that Peugeot advert with white 206.
