After a slightly barren spell it was good to find a couple of recent Matchbox in Poundland:

I knew about the Mercedes, but the Lexus was a completely new one to me.

Staying large-scale, there’s also this tinplate oddity:

20200717_160439.thumb.jpg.4ba84c76f17a74406593f7f463a7feaf.jpg

Although there’s a little bit of rust creeping under the red lacquer, this is still surprisingly complete for a cheap toy that must be knocking on 50 years old.

20200717_160512.thumb.jpg.71d33e9006912ccb94573bc1204e50ee.jpg

From the shape, I’d guess this is a loose approximation of a Datsun 240Z.

No maker’s name or any other identifying features are present – not even a country of origin. Possibly the rear ‘number plate’ of MF 037 is a code of some sort.

The friction drive motor still works perfectly, too.

Excellent. This has resurfaced in the @bunglebus sales thread

Which means that it will be soon knocking on 55 years old

Talking of Superkings Porsches, this came in a job lot today. In superb condition but the sunroof sticker is on the piss, I'd try and soften it to adjust it but I don’t want to ruin it?

It was a job lot that had hung around a bit, bid them £21 on the lot but given most of them are genuinely mint I think I scored a bargain there.

They're paper so I wouldn't bother. You'd be better off printing a black rectangle on a sticky label and cutting it out.

Cambusters and Bazookas look great

Highlight for me was the Superkings Barry Sheene Suzuki. Quite a hard model to find these days, I don’t think the motorbikes sold well for them.

This was in with them as well, I think these were called ‘High Riders’ where you got the monster truck chassis and a regular 1-75 model to convert.

Until today, I was unaware of the model...

It seems you can take his helmet off, or did they produce two types?  Probably wasn't clever assigning same K-number to different liveries from the outset

It seem you are right, not seen these about so must have been poor sellers

Barry Sheene, being Barry Sheene probably went helmet less. I’m not into motorcycles at all but it being such an obscurity I had to have it. They did a Harley Davidson as well.

Isn't K-83 picture on the rear a Harley Davidson?

It is indeed. They do look pretty fragile as well, I don’t think they’d have stood up well to being played with.

Might try and bag this off ebay

Again probs the closest Ill get as they are rare now!

Pretty rare. I have the other one which converts off roaders to a high rider on slicks

Spent a fraught couple of days trying to buy a big box of prewar Meccano off facebook because this was in there...

Not really 'in miniature' as it's fliipin' massive. I've always liked these but I think the plan is to tidy it up a bit and try and make my fortune from it, although I'm quite happy for it to sit here for a bit as it's so nice

Not really 'shite', either. What a fabulous thing.

My local Morrisons/Post Office has had this big box of Hot Wheels for about a week, they got really funny with me when I asked to look through them for some reason. Eventually got to check them out today, long cards on clip strips, and £2.50 a pop too

One of the management at Vectis has, or had, the plate D1 NKY.

It’s not been assigned to a vehicle for some while.  It was reportedly spotted on a Smart Car around five years ago, I thought perhaps one of the plate trade publicity vehicles I see regularly in my town as they tend to plop their current prize commission on theirs

COR 1G is currently on a Range Rover Sport

Farmer Tom (on his Chopper) is quite fond of it, but could be persuaded to sell it as he does need the readies to fuel the old horse

Oh!

Aye, I could be interested in that, if Farmer Tom could be persuaded and how many pounds he wants for it. Might have to be in a few weeks like, as I had a bit of a spend at the weekend, and there's already some diecast tucked away for Christmas...
