Now that's an idea for a door!

Aye, I do like Saltburn. I got them from a tiny popup market at the train station, last time I got a Zylmex Ford pickup.

Have you experienced the delights of the funicular railway yet and that stuff they sell that looks like that padding you get inside the door casings?

Nice haul!

How you getting on with the Sierra’s?

Interested in the Escort van if you’re ever getting rid?

Sierras: I'll do some photos later today to show you.

Escort: that one's gone on the shelf but I have a couple of others we could talk about if you really want one...

Does anyone know if the HOT/COLD hotwheels or matchbox still exist?

I remember them from my youth, when hot water applied they changed colour. Can they still be found? Are they still available? I’ve bought Arthur a car wash from hotwheels but the cars need to be painted.

I've been on it a few times, it has a nice old charm to it. Quite clever how they work. I've been on two others in Scarborough too.

Hot Wheels Color Shifters are still a thing, normal cars and monster trucks.

Smyths and Entertainer stock them.

Most of the older 80s 90s ones with metal bodies usually don't work anymore, but Matchbox and MC Toys ones are usually ok.

Was having trouble pasting links in earlier but it seems to be working now, so here's a modern plastic body Fish'd N Chip'd Jaguar

Went to a 1:1 car meet yesterday. Managed to sell a few of my duplicate HWs on my stall, more than I purchased! Bought these:

IMG_4291.JPG.b350a3d6ea41fd63c215f3bb0dcb33fb.JPG

The turquoise Celica might be a duplicate, but I certainly don't have the older release yellow one (from 2012).

Not seen this series before. Others shown on the back of the card are non-Japanese.

Also seen there, in the rear window of a Mk1 Capri:

Silver and black Majorette Mk2 a nicer colour scheme than the two I have. Are what appear to be Corgi Mk3s in bronze and gold original?

We didn't get to a boot fair today as the nearer ones have finished, but we did get to a market the other day where Mrs Concern bought a Corgi SRN1 for 50p

IMG_0272.JPG.8ad61419bd51487bc3dc4b0f74ca077c.JPG

It seems to have all the bits

IMG_0273.JPG.d7d8838452081e9cb5c61b952af55149.JPG

It's quite clever as it has three sprung ball bearings to run along on giving it a faux air ride

IMG_0274.JPG.fb75d5b922dd597a0ab552e415342020.JPG

As we were in I tried to get a few project closer to completion, I've been working on this since someone posted the Hot Wheels Mirafiori Transport Team on here (which I loved the look of) and I picked up the very broken Hot Wheels Mebetoys 131

IMG_0276.JPG.c01749cb47dc1e140d5990c15d2554e4.JPG

It took me a while to get a Ritmo/Strada in the correct scale, I had two others both marked 1/43 and they dwarfed the 131 so I was pleased to get a slightly broken Dinky/Solido one

IMG_0277.JPG.d20709c50cc6a190e5b5d8d94c7bb036.JPG

Now I've got so far I'm stuck for what tractor unit to use as I only have the usual Corgi Bedfords, H Cab, Scammell, Mack and Berliet. Any suggestions?

Also I'd like to add another car or two and have some Lancias and Alfas, but I cant remember if they were part of the Fiat group at the time. Obviously I could google it, but where's the fun in that?

I've nearly finished the charity shop Dinky Capri and being stuck for lights I tried setting some jewels in blue tac to see how it would work before putting them on in glue or filler, what do you think?

Lookin good @FakeConcern

Probably the Berliet tractor would be the most likely out of those to haul the Fiat trailer. Although in reality it’d probably be a Fiat/Iveco tractor… or maybe even a Deutz? There must be a suitable European truck cab out there that could be modified or grafted onto a Corgi chassis to match the trailer?

Capri lights look great!

I got a Fiat of my own the other day and a BMW with it!

I like the look of the FIAT & BMW, what make are they?

Any suggestions for more suitable cabs to look out for as I know next to nothing about model trucks (or real ones).

Any Lancia of the period (Betas, Stratos eg) will be fine with the Fiats.  I think Alfa joined the party somewhat later.

A unit to haul them with might be a bit more difficult.  There's the Corgi Berliet which is easily available, but of course is French;  also Dinky did a Mercedes cab on a rigid chassis, but that tends to run a bit dearer.  And of course is German.  It occurs to me that if you can afford to go looking for them, there might be something suitable in the 60s French Dinky range.  I'm not familiar enough with it to offer specifics but it seems likely they would have included other European rigs.

You could try finding an 'Old Cars' Iveco. It's about 1/43 scale so roughly the same size as the Ford Transcontinental.

They’re partwork unbranded ones, so probably at least something to do with IXO which many seem to be!

The biggest problem you’ll have with a tractor unit for your trailer is finding something in the right scale. Those Corgi Major trucks are an odd scale. A bit of googling suggests they’re between 1:56 and 1:47 depending on age and the exact model. Which isn’t a very common scale! A 1:43 size truck will look massive next to the old Corgi trailer!

Would a Matchbox Superkings Iveco cab modified to become a tractor unit work?
Im not sure on the scale of them, but being an Iveco it’s part of the Fiat family.

They made those in 2 liveries, Ferrari and Porsche. I always wanted that set!

I know the colour isn't quite right for Spender's car, but it's gone in the Screen collection as that.  I really didn't want to buy another shade of grey for my paint cupboard.  I disapprove of grey cars.

And I think we all remember the horrible Poo Brown XR...

I need to find or make a tail spoiler for it.  Until then it can't escape my bench, where it sits in a holding area.

Actually, on reading up on them, they had the normal steering via the beacons. I'm sure there was one where you steered it with the exhaust  stacks which were joined together in the middle and they worked in a kind of see-saw action. What one was that?

I can vaguely recall that exhaust stack steering but can’t think what it was on.

The type where you press the beacon lights I do remember well, as I had an artic of some kind like that, and 3 of the Iveco’s - two tippers and a tanker.

Van Cleemput claims almost all of the Corgi Majors are 1/48. You're quite right as the Dinky Merc and AEC? are huge.

Ive got a few spare truck cabs laying around in my spares box. Tomorrow I’ll get some pics of them if you are anyone else fancy any.

Theyre all European trucks we didn’t get in the UK.

Dinky AEC is pretty much bang on 1:43. The wheels are under scale but the basic cab is to 1:43.

Ill get you some pics tomorrow with a ruler so you can get a rough idea of sizes.
