There’s a good chance I won’t be getting that one then!😁

I’ll have to be happy with this one, which is still nice.

I’m guessing it was only this one and the plain white one that were made in uk?
Most of the others seem to have slightly later dates so must all be Thailand/Macau/China made.

That's the same as mine, although I'm pretty sure mine is Macau built.

After all the help choosing colours you all gave me I thought a quick pic to show progress was in order so here's my drying rack

IMG_6600.thumb.JPG.94c3a8aa5a73279155846e97978c981a.JPG

I have just been working on restoring a Corgi Camaro. It wasn't awful and I didn't take many before pics

IMG_6580.thumb.JPG.f8b5ed2db9891498972eb23def04aa87.JPG

No windscreen (obv) and the dash was broken with brown suede stuck to it. It was also stuck down on the floor as carpet and on the door card armrests and the centre consol. The roof was broken and Humbrol matt black was used to give a nice tide mark all round the car and also painted on the interior behind the back seat. The headlight blinds were missing and the chrome yellowed.

IMG_6601.thumb.JPG.7356c4a9e4cf22a56558d18521be1a51.JPG

Most of the black paint came off quite well using various techniques

Steve Flowers screen fits really well, shame I didn't notice the little bit of flash on the top right corner before I looked at these photos. I had filed the other corner already.

IMG_6602.thumb.JPG.1a14adfa390b5f5c2d4dbd7dc9bb8d9b.JPG

It's a bit chipped in places, but not too bad at all.

IMG_6603.thumb.JPG.456832191824230a39178554c5624405.JPG

The rear panel was black and came up pretty well, but the repro hood not a great fit.

IMG_6604.thumb.JPG.97946c47afa6cdb8317bb4cd61db200b.JPG

All the red interior came up much better than I expected, shame someone cleaned the black off the steering wheel, left it on the draining board then placed a heavy saucepan on it! It did glue back together.

IMG_6605.thumb.JPG.5ddd5eacef67f584d8280998d57c8433.JPG

Lights closed

IMG_6606.thumb.JPG.44ae866a23e5c91a98db954e5d62de89.JPG

Lights open!

IMG_6607.thumb.JPG.53ab8522cf722d3fe42b02705751f970.JPG

Looks pretty much like the real thing

IMG_6608.thumb.JPG.fab84004d9b47330175fadf71d4b529d.JPG

Very pleased to have made them.

IMG_6609.thumb.JPG.58aa5d4a14d57c5ea1384a45e5cf4e81.JPG

The dashboard got patched up with red plasticard and really looks fine behind the repro screen.

IMG_6610.thumb.JPG.2d46a6675b8d9c01c18174206e19f782.JPG

Firebird sits much higher, presumably because of Whizzwheels

IMG_6612.thumb.JPG.140b6b63cc61e60973bd172700d23a86.JPG

You can see how good the Steve Flowers windscreen is compared to the firebird original

IMG_6613.thumb.JPG.18c3d031e5a99e46a4a6b0c96e5b4539.JPG

For some reason the Camaro is on what I take to be Hunter Minilights, the 11 yr old me must have done that along with the other mods, I don't remember and don't seem to have the originals anywhere either.

IMG_6614.thumb.JPG.afe4a3b4b68f70f5d1e0fbde03a2e1c7.JPG

The same, but different!

White ones first release 1983 with Made in England on base

The silver with those graphics production transferred during 1985, so both.  If you have a Made in England silver one, then it was a 1984 until then.

From then on was Made in Macau until 1990 when the Thailand factory started production

Mines definitely a made in England one, so it’s an early one.
Im going to have to keep an eye out for the others I’m missing now. Pretty sure my chances of getting a blue one are zilch but you never know!

@FakeConcern that Camaro & Firebird pair look fantastic! Nice job👍

Corgi Hillman Hunter and Tonka Ground Pounder (AMC Gremlin)

Procured from 'Market Blokey' at £2 each, on Tat Friday March 6, 2020, no less!

The Hillman now has a full set of Golden Jack wheels, but otherwise untouched and sits on a shelf.  The Gremlin has been - ahem- played with a few times and has clouted the skirting boards, a few times.  After taking apart and oiling the friction motor, it flies you see

It sits on a shelf in a different room (overspill...) alongside the remaining Tonka 'Scrambler' and 'Clutch Popper' buddies.

It's a big Kirk/ Model Products Ford D-Series brewery wagon, in Tuborg Grøn colours.

Also dug out that Tuborg Grøn TEKNO Mercedes-Benz L-series mentioned on Wednesday.

Clearly not in anywhere as good condition paint or decal-wise, but it was nabbed off a stall on Winchester market in February - for £4 !

Yeah, about that. I’m pretty sure every schoolboy in the 50’s knew D-Types had those fancy new Dunlop disc brakes.

I'm gonna say the green van as I don't recognise it

It's a Corgi 450 Austin Mini Van

Metallic Green one also has poor radio reception and no woodworm.

Correct, van has incorrect grille casting from the surfer boys Countryman.

DSCF5261.thumb.JPG.887fb7e8838a15b1384137a3f4b6cf50.JPG

I had a look on Vectis to see what was the rarity. Out of 48 examples:

42 had the correct Van style grille

 18.jpg?width=2073&height=1248&id=C7A1A4A

and 6 had the Countryman type

223.jpg?width=2073&height=1248&id=EB227C

So it's not that unusual, but a variation, if you are into that sort of thing.

Then I took some more comparison shots with the other two

Standard green van does not have dog guard like Police version

but does have a nice detail of the Austin Mini script on the right side rear door and it also has a little cast blob for the fuel cap that was seen on what is know as the Internal Tank Countryman. For those that are not Mini Nerds like me, the early Mini Countryman and Mini Travellers had an internal petrol tank on the left side of the rear cabin, and not the floor type tank seen on the vans and pick-ups.

After comparing Corgis I thought I'd line it up with some Spot-Ons

The Corgi is slightly larger in both length...

DSCF5271.thumb.JPG.3ae4389802613e2ac299e30453d9d676.JPG

and width.

DSCF5273.thumb.JPG.b709d04c40034ee935be4d063926f7c5.JPG

The Spot-On has just one roof vent, just like the real thing, I've never understood why Corgi put two on theirs. I like the side window detail on the Corgi, with the open rear pane effect.

DSCF5280.thumb.JPG.07fcf28df3a0b68d4b4a64acafb6bb6f.JPG

The rear on the Spot-On has better rear bumper detail, and the rear lights are a better effort

DSCF5279.thumb.JPG.3c52ef5055ef60ccce6370deb6f238f1.JPG

But I think the Corgi is better overall as the proportions are better. The Spot-On looks a bit narrow and pinched.

DSCF5272.thumb.JPG.1ea82b50bd6fae1a180efc9656f8b8d2.JPG

By the way, Spot-On called theirs a Morris, but they didn't put a badge casting on the bonnet.

Think it should be a Bedford Type S with this Major No2 set -  the small wheels version, rather than the bigger wheeled tractor unit which came with the Transporter set.

Rapid Transit, that version was released in 1990. Didn’t realise you were so youthful!

I have this one from 1988

Another find today, I actually wasn’t going to keep this one, but someone convinced me otherwise!

Solido 1/43 Talbot Horizon. My grandad had a T reg one in pea green with a tan interior many years ago. The first car I ever sat behind the wheel of actually! So this will become that car eventually!
