Having bought an Austin Maestro 1.3 City X I needed a model to continue building my 1:43 collection with a model for every car I have owned.

There is a red 1:43 model by Hastings Classics (SMTS) for £125, Mrs6C was outraged that I even considered it. For me it would have had to have been a City X facelifted dash not an HL to really consider it.

Then I found a Scalextric MG Maestro in red for £37, but its 1:32 scale, a bit crude, an MG and still quite expensive.

So the only other ones I could find were the Corgi 1:36 MG Maestro with lots of yellow ones for sale and a boxed red one for £40.49. Wrong scale, MG and over £40 put me off.

So what to do as I don’t want to fall behind with getting new models for my collection to match my real cars. I then spotted a play wore yellow MG Maestro for £5, there are red paint cans in the boot of the real car so I could do a quick respray to red later. I bought it and it came on time.

Today I unwrapped the yellow play wore Maestro, Mrs6C said we needed to put batteries in in it test the light. Fortunately they worked or Mrs6C would have been very disappointed how I had spent £5!

Those Corgi Maestros are great, I had a lovely MIB one and a tattier example but sold them both. Wish I'd kept them now.

The brown Camargue is finished! Just need to run some norn Irish plates up for it for the full ‘cashed in my endowment’ look.

Someone will probably give him £30 for the 1/18 Sun Star DeLorean, but it probably won't be me (unless someone here fancies it?)

Yes please.

Yep, I know its a bit late but if its there next Freitag, I'll have it.

That looks spot on for the period, I'll bet someone ordered one up in that colour too!

I toyed with the idea of a beige vinyl roof. When I bought the Russet Brown from the car spares shop he said it was actually one of his best selling colours as it was one of the few flat brown colours.

I find it quite strange that most cars in the seventies were brown/beige/disinfectant green etc but the diecasts were always really wild colours. Next job is a Matchbox W124 repainted as a Gran Canarian Taxi.

Yeah, the 1/18 DeLorean was already gone when I went back for the second pass - but I'll keep an eye out, as it's not the first time something has disappeared then reappeared on the stall - possibly someone asks for it to be set aside, then goes off and never comes back?

Will see what turns up next week, all being well!

It's a bit tatty and the door is broken on the bottom. I'll send it to you, you can make one good one out of the two and send me the remaining one/bits as I'll modify /custom it.

Drop me a pm with address etc as I don't have it..

Had a bit of time to play with a few die casts today, Playart Mazda is now somewhat closer to terra firma

Ex-Amishtat Lone Star Zyphyr is painted but I'm keeping it under wraps until it's complete. Modified base fits my other one nicely though 😁

And a mystery - Mebetoys/Hot Wheels 911 but those are Matchbox wheels on the front. Doesn't look like it's been apart

The Buick collection has expanded a bit.

I'm still looking for a gen 4 Electra,preferably the GLM '76 model.

While browsing Model Car World I came across this Estate. Close enough for now and it was 20% off for members :)

Here's most of my Electras lined up.

I've also blagged this Solido Roadmaster and a couple of other Buicks for repaint.

There aren't enough Like buttons for that post!  Red wagon is pure.

I have visited this thread a good few times, but so far resisted the temptation to join in and start collecting even more stuff... I do have a reason for posting today, though. This picture was posted on a scooter forum I frequent, but the poster wasn't convinced it was genuine, as he's a keen collector and had never seen one:

Having two of the real thing, I would love a Hot Wheels Honda Helix! Has anyone ever seen one?

Unfortunately that's a fake, seen a few quite clever photoshop jobs around.

There are also some enterprising folk making new cards to match their customised Hot Wheels

There are a few Hot Wheels motorcycles but not that one

Lone Star Zodiac is done...maybe. I have a couple of Ford decals that I'm in two minds about putting on it, so I'll show it now before I cock that up.

Pretty pleased with this one, I can see a couple of errors like the smudged chrome on the wing badge, I'll try and correct that once it's fully dried.

Checked roof fades silver to black which was a fun bit of masking up

I was torn on colour choice and nearly painted it yellow but felt a metallic colour was more "gasser"

Most gassers have a name splashed down the flank.

Maybe "sign of the Zodiac"?

"Zodiac killer" ECT?

Nice custom btw.

I thought of "Zodiac Killer" but then it IS a Zodiac so seemed not quite right - best alternative I could think of was "The Astrologer"

Apparently Black Square decals do custom stuff but no idea on cost

Scanned the 1994 Matchbox catalogue. Pretty underwhelming this one, partly as by this time I was having driving lessons so toy cars weren't on my radar, partly there's much more plastic in evidence and the traditional small stuff isn't given a lot of space. Still pumping out that Superkings Plymouth Gran Fury though! I think a lot of toy cars from this era aren't very good, Mattel were pumping out a lot of generic stuff too. Things have definately improved in recent years

I spent more time trying to work out what the cars were getting squished by the monster trucks than looking at the rest of the catalogue - any ideas?

Almost all my smoll shite is tucked away in storage so I shall have to live vicariously through this thread for the next couple of weeks. Please keep it up all of you!

Did they release the 1994 catalogue in the U.K. or was it a non U.K. release?

I don't know - has no addresses for either Matchbox or the printers on it anywhere

That Matchbox catalogue was a bit dull, thought I'd scan one of my others as well - Zylmex 1980

I remember my mum looking everywhere for the ‘93 catalogue, we used to get them in Beatties or Toymaster. I think she even wrote to the HQ in Rugby to no avail. It could be a trade only copy.

I bet the replica firearms range went down a treat.

That's the first piece of evidence I've ever seen of the Superkings 'World Sports' cars. Since buying the boxed RX7 from Datsuncog a year or so ago I have found absolutely no information on them. It's a really nice model, no opening features but 'L' registration plate.

I also recall nothing of Zylmex. I did have the crude-looking BMW 2002 although I don't recall any makers markings underneath. The only one I have is the Pinto from the Tat Stall® and it has to be the smoothest and most free rolling car I've ever had. It would have won a lot of races if I had owned it as a kid!
