Shite in Miniature II

Nice work @vulgalour - if you're working on mini-shite, I take that as a good sign that you're settled in down south now!

yup, finally got the work room set up and some head space so this weekend (Sunday/Monday) has been all about chilling the fuck out and not doing any DIY.  It's been nice.

Got a Gus's Gulper for a couple of quid.  Dolly and Ken love it, as it goes with their Milligan's Mill

Not only that, the Commuter Dragster was thrown in by the seller as a gift :)

The others were 50p in local charity shop - I couldn't believe my eyes on the Pi-Eyed Piper, so gave them a rounded £2 for the three (as guilt kicked in)

Three very nice ones there!

Also went into Smyths and saw this Mattel 'Fast & Furious' Escort.  At first I though it was a repackage - but no!  It's a completely different casting to the typical HW one!   What are Mattel up to?

It is odd - why not use the casting they already had?

Popped into my local B&M and fished this out of the basket O' Hotwheels. Apart from the brown wheels this is awesome, never seen a Subaru pickup in miniature form before....

I have that one to potentially make a custom out of, for the same reason - you never see Brats as a diecast

Anyway, had a play with a couple of 1:64s today;

This is partly done and partly mocked up. Corgi Bugs Bunny body/chassis, buggy interior. I like the bullbars and oversize engine on the Bugs version, there are multiple differences in the body and base, so there has been lots of cutting and grinding to get the interior to fit. Also need to source or make a windscreen. This one was in a shit state as can be seen from the pitting on the bullbars

This one is painted and ready to go back together once it's cured. It's a Volks-Dragon on a Sand Digger base, modern Matchbox wheels

Picked up locally a Corgi Thunderbird, which will be interesting to compare to the old/new Matchbox one, and a grille donor for my Matchbox Kennel Truck

In Smyths got this for £7

I think I got excited at the BMW 2002 and Nissan 510

Dolly and Ken said that as my Fuzzy head is now clear after peering through the acetate a few times to get my hit, so I have agreed to take it back

In B&M got this

Dolly & Ken said similar on this too.

Why I paid £20 for just 3 cars I was interested in, beats me.  Especially as the tampo is poor on some. Returned with gusto

So as a result of the daft impulsiveness mentioned above, the hit list is now reduced in cost to:

Red Ken & Mary Police Skyline to go with my White Ken & Mary Police Skyline

Nissan-Skyline-Kenmeri-2019-Police-Red-R

HW 2-door Hudson Hornet to go with my Matchbox 4-door one, all liveries considered but this tips the pack:

A BMW 2002 in this livery, the reverse of the one in that current 5-pack

Hot-Wheels-BMW-2002-Car-Culture-Door-Sla

VW SP2, been around since the ark of the covenant, but this colour scheme appeals

Poundland have a set of Despicable Me cars, mostly generic stuff but I'll have a Fish N Chipped for a squid;

They also have Maisto, mostly awful things but the 911's not bad

Aldi have 3 packs, grabbed one for me and one for a mate - Lotus one appears to be an error with the wrong car in the one I bought

Local eBay score;

And a charity shop find - can anyone guess the make/model? Wasn't one I'd seen before

I still have one of those MB Sables in my Projects Box.  The idea, of course, is to cut down the rear and reshape it into a sedan, like the white one I had a few years ago.

They did a green ‘woody’ one later on in the production run in the US to celebrate the Brady Bunch.

Just nipped to my local Aldi asnd grabbed a couple of packs of Hot Wheels, The '96 Porsche Carrera is a favourite casting of mine and I'm liking this yellow version, and though the Acura NSX isn't really my thing, it's a nice wee version.

IMG_20200218_190733.thumb.jpg.c8034fad5981e46b9733e89e4a119b7e.jpg

And I was pleased to get the one with the Lotus and the Chiron together,

Alas no sign yet of the pack with the gold Porsche 944, the hunt continues!

Yes that's the regular wheels VW1600 fastback, look for cracks in the A pillars and sills. Mini Ha Ha, T-top Trans-Am, purple E-type and Lambo worth a grab too, and I wouldn't mind one of the three Dyanes!

Was so excited I fished out my old Corgi Escort (that I took to bits c.1990 and never put back together) to compare.  It didn't realise that both A-pillars are knacked.  Anyone got a better body?  Corgi Escort body, I mean.

I do like these, and I think I'll hold onto them for a while  - until I can find the rest of the set, anyway.
