I have the Range Rover rolomatic in orange and the mercury in red as a fire chief car. I didn’t realise they did a police version. I will have to pick one up. I am quite new to this and don’t know all the models and combinations

I also restored one of the ex Eddyramrod chod.

This is the only before pic I have.

The orange Range Rover is from a gift set on those, would have originally had ‘Site Manager’ on the doors. Quite scarce compared to the white ones and the later beige Paris Dakar issues.

I have altogether too many of these, in various states of decay.

The other day I realised they have potential as an arctic explorer type THING.  All I need to do is chop the cab off one and the boom off another, and then sort of bish bash bosh it about a bit.

A third will provide the bit I need between the front and rear cabs and with some careful filing of mouldings and such, I should end up with a stocky go-anywhere snow machine.  I'll likely paint it orange, though I'm undecided on what sort of markings it should have so I'll have to have a look at some 1960s explorer machines.

It already looks like it should be rolling down the ramp of Pod 2!

Love these conversions. When I was a kid I liked ‘doing a crayford’ and making cabrio versions of stuff.

That's fantastic, looks like something Matchbox would have actually made.

Looking forward to the end result.

Rightyho, you may recall the horribly repainted HO scale Mk2 Transit I scored the other week:

20190125_104502.jpg

Well, it's strippy strippy time, having procured some oven cleaner to get the old paint off as recommended on these pages, and managed to get the thing apart using a penknife blade.

Is the preferred option just to throw it in a press-seal bag, spray in a good squirt of the cleaner, then seal it up to stew for a few hours before rinsing? Or is rather more finesse involved?

Don't mean to sound like the restoration n00b I so clearly am; but equally don't want to come back to a small plastic puddle where there should be rather a nice little model.

Here's the non-painty bits, anyway.

Without the body, it looks like one of those 'futuristic' cars from a cheap 80's sci-fi film

My other Tigra is a code 3 sprayed red, needs wheels though and headlights sorting as they have been painted silver

God I've got much want for 90's Vauxhall dealer tat now. Particularly those V-grille black bumpered Astras! Problem is people seem to want stupid prices for Gama RHD stuff, I've already written off Schabak stuff as out of my meagre pocket money range now!

Had my existing Vauxhall range out for a play and a clean earlier. May don my flame proof underwear and get some pics up...

The red Astra came from France and wasn't exactly cheap, and wasn't even in a Vauxhall box, just plain card, I will sort out all my Vauxhallshite tomorrow and snap them, need to put a dash back in my Lotus Carlton though

Incoming!!!!

I impulse bid on the Ducato...it's a fantastic thing and 1/43 too.

The Conrad Mercedes Vans were part of a job lot and weigh a ton. There is another drop side one without the loadbay cover as well, a fiver to a shiter plus post sound okay?

I also got some ace hot wheels redlines from eddy, thanks a lot!

Yes, it really is that simple. Most things in life are. My mother always says, if you have a problem that requires a complicated solution, don't bother solving it.
