Here's the important question.... how wet is it there?

I'm toying with driving down tomorrow, but probably returning oop norf in the evening...

Is anyone going back up the M1 after shitefest - if so, any chance of an autoshite collection from jcn 12 or 11a of the M5 and delivery of three boxes of decade old motorhome brochures to Doncaster, south Yorkshire.

I'd have asked earlier but I've only just thought of it - am too busy packing home to come to shitefest but happy to meet on the M5 to drop the three boxes off.

Good luck everybody. Hope the weather comes good for ya tomorrow.

I can't make it on Saturday. I would like to come on Sunday though.

Hey, Seth is probably going to come along to the A-W museum with us on Sunday, so might be worth getting in touch with him if you want to convoy from The Big Smoke to Wiltshite in the morning?

I may be in a bit of a pickle.

My plan up until this point was to sleep, within the confines of a sleeping bag, in the Hyundai.

However after a thorough search of the house I have found a great many things that I did not know I had, including a portable television, a plate rack and an awning for a caravan that I do not and shall never own. I have not found a sleeping bag.

I would take a quilt, but once again, all I can find is double quilts, which may be awkward on the train to Walsall to pick up the Hyundai.

Any chance, if anyone has a spare sleeping bag, that they could bring it along and lend it to me?

I promise I'm not incontinent, not very flatulant, slim, low in BO and unlikely to chunder everywhere.

PLEASE or my night may end up being rather chillier than I had planned.

Phil - worry not. I am sure I can find something here for you to sleep under. I have bags, quilts, blankets etc - so just get on down here!

Cheers

Andy

Do you have a hammer and anvil or a big vice? I need to do some surgery on The Volvo after my boss reversed into it this evening. See the "News 24" thread for details

I've also packed a few magazines, some are for sale (50p) and some are free, If nothing else it's good reading material. Now just to pray that it stays mostly dry :? .

^^^I like the sun hat Trig, that's optimistic :D Reminds me to pack one though as the Sunday looks like OK weather at the moment.

I'm not bothering with a tent as I can just about fit in the back of the Renno 25, the inflatable mattress slots in nicely. But conveniently I've got a chiropractor appointment next week which I reckon I'll need!

See you all tomorrow.

Everything is in order. My mate's got a couple of folding chairs which we will be bringing along with us. Have a safe journey everyone and we'll see you there.

Right, the BX is half packed with bed* constructed* beneath all the stuff. Hopefully I'll be arriving in convoy with Phil who'll be piloting the newly acquired Autoshite-racing-beige Pony. Fingers crossed, I'm hoping to meet him at the seller's address near Walsall at 11-ish. I have a fairly comprehensive roadside rescue kit with me, so we should see you at Andy's comedy address without too much delay.

Happy traveling y'all!

Crumbs, you lot are taking the whole 'preparation' thing pretty seriously. I 'prepared' by eating loads of sausages and watching Twin Peaks FWWM in bed. I'll probably give my shoes a quick shine before bed though, I can't leave everything to chance.

Now, I wonder where my tent is....?

I'm not down to attend but I wanted to wish you all the best of luck today (especially with the weather!) and I hope you all have a brilliant time. Looking forward to seeing the pics!

Posted

I won't be attending after all.

The weather, a 12 hour night shift and The Volvo's plight have conspired to seriously lower my spirits meaning that I am feeling pretty unsociable at the moment and have zero desire to venture further than my local shops this weekend. I'm sure that you'll be fine without me.

C'mon Shep, don't let a little bump keep you away1

The weather's not bad: it's gonna dry up this afternoon, and tomorrow will be fine.

Preparation: I have all the gear (perhaps no idea), but cosmetic preparations are lacking; all I've done is to unscrew the one remaining mudflap which hasn't fallen off on its own, and I splashed out on a haircut. I was beginning to look like a puny lovechild of fellow BX owners Catsinthewelder and Dollywobbler.

See you soon!

Levels are all checked on the Rover of Doom - it's used about a pint of coolant in the last 6,000 miles, and no oil whatsoever since I changed it 3,000 miles ago. So that's good then. I'll be leaving in about 15 minutes, heading down via Kettering and then Oxford and Swindon.

Posted

Come on Shep! I'm already at Preston in the battered golden brick and I've been up for 26 hours! If you don't bring TV along I'm liable to win best Volvo in show ffs! B-)

Posted

Yeah, go on Shep. You never know, we might even be able to bash the Volvo back into shape between us.

Posted

Sat on the train, on my way to Walsall via Birmingham new street. Hopefully by mid-day I should be the proud owner of a new* Hyundai pony. That is assuming there aren't leaves on the line or the wrong sort of drizzle.

See you all shortly.

Have fun folks - family duties mean I won't be in attendance ..... maybe next year ;)

I'm on my way...See you this afternoon!! :D

The weather is horrendous here in Ippy, had heavy rain since 3am and its still on going plus many major roads like the A14 is flooded so i won't be bringing the Cortina now which i'm proper gutted about.

But i have now loaded the Golf up so i'm still coming, will be leaving soon.!.

Got back from LE FRANCE and BECAUSE BELGIUM. Have to go to work, can't come.

Posted

Sorry guys, but my heart's really not in it, especially now that the weather has taken a turn for the worse :(

Posted

Sorry guys I'm wobbling out too,

I needed to do an airport run for work last night which got a bit chaotic with the OMG flooding, after 7 1/2 hours driving an LDV through the night I don't really feel safe to drive anything today let alone the knackered camper. I'm absolutely gutted to miss it and I'm properly kicking myself but I don't really want to spend the day driving down only to fall asleep after my first can of cider :(

In hindsight this does sound more fun than the 130mile charity bike ride I've committed myself to this weekend :?
