As most of you know my 405 has suffered OMG PUMP FAIL!!! This has been bought as a "temporary replacement" while I try and get my life back in order.

Sorry for the phuzzy photoz

Looking almost tidy from a distance. Non of the prime shite in the background belongs to me.

Sadly the pics don't show the crazy paving roof paint.

It's actually really tidy on the inside.

It even came with four original Key Largo mats and a bonus picture of a nun complete with a prayer on the back!

It's surprisingly nice to drive and it's a lot more nippy than I'd expect considering it only has a 954cc engine and a four speed gearbox. The much slagged off pedal arrangement hasn't caused me any problems either. 45 mpg in daily driving means that it is marginally cheaper to feed than the 405 diesel as well. The steering is amazingly light and even of skinny tyres the handling is kart-like and fun in the way that only a light car with no power steering can be. The only thing blotting its copybook if the dodgy Peugeot paintwork and slight mid range missfire that doesn't seem to be caused by the coil pack so I'll investigate further when funds allow.

If it keeps me mobile and gets me to my new job and back until I can sort a permanent replacement I'll be a happy bunny indeed. As it's taxed and tested I may even make a small profit on the deal.

Always thought they are a nice looking car. Ideal for that mid 1990s "bank of Mum&Dad student" look

They're a very 'right' looking car these, especially pre-facelift without the glitzy red rear lights. Do you actually fit in it though? I'd rate you as 'quite tall' really!

Surprisingly I fit ok, much better than in the 306. I must look a right funny sight in it though!

Assuming that's taxed/tested you've had a right bargain there.

They're surprisingly good to drive and parts are dirt cheap, right result!

I had one of the last series 1 Rallyes when it was almost new and it was quite a nice drive. No problems with space and I'm 6'1" tall with size 12 shoes.

45mpg is pretty good, I think the 1 litre AX was even better!

Tidy wee things, these. The wife has an 1100 version with a 5-speed box, it'll do 48mpg on the motorway, and we've had 55 touring around in Ireland. I assume this'll have the 3-stud hubs? That's the only downside to them, really.

GR12 purchase there, I used to have a L reg 1.4 Diesel myself about 6 years, paid about £350 for it of ebay, It wasn't a bad car, I did find the pedals too close personally but driving with size 10 steel toe cap boots didn't help and i dented the door one day in the wind against the wing, Cheap to run though.

Whats with the God Bothering Chick on the front mat?

Are you sure she is a chick to begin with? She looks like a man to me.

The penguin picture was in the glovebox. Honestly it's not mine! I think she's the patron saint of coil packs or something.

that looks like a very famous 'saint' of a nun who could perform miracles (yeah right) and who's cave is a big pilgrimage site somewhere in france or portugal

Did I mention that it came with a comprehensive service history?

I quite fancy one of these one day. Someone up the road has been running one that looks identical to yours pretty much since we have lived here (5 yrs)

£230 seems gr9 value.

Nice buy. Just goes to show what bargains there are to be had still.

Perfect first car, except all the kids demand a brand new Picanto now.

My list of things to do on it is so far mercifully short, miss fire, wheels balancing, cam belt and service. It's only done 70k and really drives nicely. How it will cope with my 500 mile a week lifestyle remains to be seen.

Nice cars. Will take 5 people & their instruments from Amsterdam to Brussels Airport to got to Stockholm - but not comfortably.

Did I mention that it came with a pair of George Michael's socks from the Club Tropicana video?

EFA :D

My 205 diesel copes fine with 80 miles a day, that's a mere 400 miles a week. It's creaking and clonking a bit around the suspension joints but otherwise all is well. The depreciation on a new car with that kind of mileage would be horrific and not many would beat its 55mpg.

Old Pugs ride and handle quite well too, so driving them is ok even on a boring commute

Sad to say but it seems to feel a lot more solid than my old 205, drives better too.

That's a mega bargain you've got there Warren, how much MoT is left on it?

Six months MOT and taxed until April. I needed legal wheels there and then due to 405 pump fail.

That's spooky - I sold my 954cc, 4-speed Peugeot 106 for £230 ten days ago. You're right, they are surprisingly nippy for what they are, and not as under-geared as I was expecting either. I also found the 4-speed box more pleasant to use than the 5-speeder with its silly narrow gate. The offset pedals do get a bit wearing on a long journey though.

Shite special edition WIN! There was the Key Largo and the Key West. I'm not sure the nun came with the Key West.

My mum had a 106 Mardi Gras which was just as miserably spec'd. Great buy!

My lad got £270 for his with no MOT!

Right price, looks tidy enough. What's not to like?

I always liked the look of these. Tried a 106 GTI onceâ€â€really ticked me off we have such restrictive import laws to the States or I'd snap one up.
