Amazingly the Kennedy Lincoln was repaired and put back into service and used by LBJ and even later I think. The car actually belonged to Ford and was lent or leased - now in one of the Ford museums.

After the assassination of JFK the car returned to the builder to be modified. When JFK used the car, leased from Ford for $500 a month, it was not bullet proof. The car had removable roof sections but as it was a hot day in Dallas, and there was no air-con in the back, JFK went top-less on the fateful day.

The car was then bullet proofed and a permanent fix roof was fitted. LBJ also ordered it to be painted black. The car was used by LBJ, Nixon, Gerald Ford and retired in 1977 under Jimmy Carter.

There's a good write up on teh SS 100-X on the following link.

The murder of Sicilian mobster Giovanni Fici, 1988.

I would have expected a mobster to have a new black Lancia or Maserati not anything as stylish as a ten year old Cortina (Taunus in Italy) From all the bullet holes in the back I assume he was shagging on the back seat? Not a bad way to go.

Apparently the gunmen opened fired from behind, he was ambushed while parking his car. Fici was a fairly low ranking member within the mafia, which might explain why he was driving a Taunus TC2 1600...

Not exactly 'infamous' against a large proportion of shite in this thread, but it had a little air time on a 1998 episode of Crimewatch UK. Here is a morbid tale about this coach:

FB_IMG_1747934917433.jpg.25405de57e6924ae86705643fb158715.jpg

Sometime in mid 1998, a young chap went to a Nightclub in Chelmsford, Essex, later on he is seen leaving the Nightclub alone.

Not long after he left, this very coach was stolen from a depot in Chelmsford as the driver had left the keys in the ignition.

The coach was then driven erratically without lights, doing most of the usual "joyriding" type stuff.

Then the coach entered a small cul-de-sac in a small village and got stuck half on a garden and up against a house, it was then left abandoned and later on when the police arrived, the body of the young chap was found crushed to death with the busses' ignition keys beside him.

Unfortunately, despite appeals and rewards being offered, the case was never solved. It was always suspected the chap had either stolen the coach himself and come a cropper when trying to get the coach out of the garden, or had been a passenger during the joyride due to witnesses claiming there were 2 people aboard the coach during its run.

Don't know if it was ever repaired as it was noted still in existence around 2001-2 after it had been sold to Jordans of Coltishall for scrap.

Interestingly, the private reg was put on while it was with it's first owner, Wallace Arnold but not removed when it passed to Great Yarmouth Transport who sold out to first group in 1996. The plate did get transferred to another plaxton paramount bodied B10M

Many years ago in around 1994/1995, Ma_Sterling used to go and visit a friend and fellow nurse who lived in Wolverhampton often with me tagging along. Said friend of Ma's had a boyfriend and the only thing for a 90s kid to do when sitting in a house whilst Ma and friend were chatting away was to read whatever stuff was around.

I picked up some sort of car magazine and what intrigued me was reading about the death of a driver after a fatal crash in his Ferrari F40 in a desert somewhere during some sort of race. That's all I remember until today when I actually did some research and found out about the crash;

In 1994, Akihiro Kabe and co-driver Takeshi Okano, a couple of dentists from Japan, took part in the Australian Cannonball run which was taking place in the Northern Territories.

30 minutes outside of Alice Springs, at speeds over 200 km/h, the driver (Akihiro Kabe) overtook competing driver in a Porsche, clipped gravel on the side of the road under breaking, lost control, and crashed into a parked Jeep at speed with enough force to move it two metres into another vehicle, a Commodore sitting alongside

Kabe was killed in the impact, along with his co-driver Takeshi Okano, and two of the Cannonball Run Marshalls:

This story was real intriguing to me as a kid, this was the first time I'd seen or heard of anything like this. I never really forgot the story (except of course, the names, where the race/crash occurred etc...)

Looking further into it, I was surprised to learn that after the crash, the Ferrari was shipped back to Japan and rebuilt before being sold on.

I’ve got to look this up now… what episode was it?

Pottery Cottage murders - 1977

You can read the full story on Wikipedia but basically William Thomas Hughes escaped whilst being driven from prison to court. He fled across the moors and ended up at Pottery Cottage. Whilst there, he killed four members of the family. Neighbours then found out so he made an escape taking one hostage in the family's Chrysler 180. Police caught up with it and an unmarked Marina TC got in front of it and pushed the Chrysler into a wall. Hughes hijacked the Marina and the pursuit continued until he crashed whilst swerving around a bus which had been positioned as a road block. After nearly an hour of negotiations, he was shot dead by police. The hostage of the family survived.

The stolen 1934 Ford Deluxe V8 in which Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were killed by law enforcement officers on 23 May 1934 in Bienville Parish, Louisiana.  The bullet-ridden car still exists and can be seen today at Buffalo Bill's Resort and Casino in Primm, Nevada, 40 miles south of Las Vegas.

This is the blue 1990 Chevrolet Caprice saloon used in the 2002 Washington DC sniper attacks.

John Allen Muhammad (former surname Williams) and Lee Boyd Malvo were captured after killing 17 victims and injuring a further 10.  The perpetrators fired with a stolen Bushmaster rifle from inside the car’s boot, through a hole cut into the back of the car.

Muhammad was executed in 2009, Malvo is currently serving a life sentence.

From what I remember he was driving it without licence plates, which made the police suspicious!
