trigger Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Following on from my thread last year viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7902&hilit=trigger%27s+show I've decided to start a new one for the new season this year. Basically this is a place for me to post my photos taken at the local shows over the year, I hope you enjoy. First show of the year this year is the East Anglian Practical Classics club car run from Saxmundham to Aldeburgh on the Suffolk Coast, This is always a nice start to the show season as you can park up on the seafront, buy some of the world famous fish and chips and get a pint of Adnams Broadside down the pub whilst eating the chips, Lovely! Firstly a number of cars met up at Waltrose in Saxmundham. 1979 Ford Cortina 1600 L MK4 by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1972 Ford Capri 5.0 V8 Perana by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1972 Ford Capri 5.0 V8 Perana by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr A genuine South African 5.0 V8 Perana, It sounded the bee knees when It started. 1962 Morris Minor 1000 Traveller by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1963 Vauxhall Cresta PB by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1963 Vauxhall Cresta PB by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr This Cresta looked like it had been punted up the arse, It was just the angle of the rear valance and number plate. 1958 Daimler Majestic by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1938 Packard Super Eight by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1986 Talbot Samba Style by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1986 Talbot Samba Style by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr SAMBA!, Not sure where the "Style" part of it comes in. Wilko220 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Fantastic selection of pics.Has that early Minor been lowered?
ypsilandra Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Ooer, I just had a Murena moment.....and a Samba Lovely pics, although I think the Traveller and Cresta have suffered from a bit of over enthusiastic accessorising! My grandad had a Packard Super Eight, the only car he ever owned. I spotted a white R25 parked up with an XM this afternoon, will get a pic.
trigger Posted April 9, 2012 Author Posted April 9, 2012 I don't think so, It's just a high speed 5mph cornering shot, It looks normal height in this photo. Early Morris Minor MM by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr
AndyW201 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Top photos Trig, a nice varied selection. I don't think there's a car there that I wouldn't have. The cortina's looking well too.
michael t Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 lovely pics from what looked like a great show, i agree with you on whether the Pug 309 should really be there, but then others would argue about Metro's and their like being there too
Captain Mainwaring Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Excellent, excellent photos as always Trigger. I wonder what that little bit of wire sticking from the front valance of the Consul is for...parking aid maybe? And were those blokes in the Triumph genuinely pissed off? Surely if you take your classic car to a...classic car show you've got to expect people to want to take photos of it?
theorganist Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Lovely pictures, all those cars look pretty immaculate, put mine to shame. Love that Maxi, I remember it being for sale when I bought my first one in 2009, it had only done about 17,000 miles was for sale for around £2,500. That Samba must be a very late one, I have never seen a Talbot car later than a C reg!!
trigger Posted April 9, 2012 Author Posted April 9, 2012 And were those blokes in the Triumph genuinely pissed off? Surely if you take your classic car to a...classic car show you've got to expect people to want to take photos of it? No!, I know the guys, one owns the Gold Mk4 Cortina plus several other cars and the other owns the Triumph and a mint Sierra XR4x4, They was pissing about, The silver wire on the Consul is a kerb marker, I think they were common on American cars in the 50's.
Cavcraft Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Cracking stuff as per, Trig. Beige Capri is uber but that Low Light Morris 1000 wins it for me. It looks an early one too, I think that join in the front bumper was from when the very first one was deemed not to be wide enough so they stretched the cars a bit but had a few bumpers left over.
michael1703 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Bugger, didnt know that was on, I could have gone, we went to Southwold. I was in the workshop this morning and there must have been at least 50 minis going past on a drive to somewhere local
ProgRocker Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I snapped the big gallic car last summer:1986/87 Renault 25 GTX by Woolymatt, on Flickr
eddyramrod Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Thank you so much Trig! Mk3 Zodiac for me please...
Woody Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I was in Norfolk for the weekend, and this passed me on the A12 on the way home - that black boot lid is very distinctive! Unfortunately the yellow is a very pale shade, so it just looked like a normal mk1 until he was alongside. If I'd realised it was a Perana V8 I'd have wound the window down!
retrogeezer Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Top pics Trigster....cheers for posting them up. And I always used to wonder why someone would order a new car in beige or brown......now I am really glad they did!
Pete-M Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 The yellow Capri Perana is one of the cars on my bucket list. I love those things. Always wanted one.
trigger Posted April 9, 2012 Author Posted April 9, 2012 There used to be a white Mk1 Granada 5.0 V8 Perana locally that went to the show, that was a lovely car too, it ended up for sale at that "Affordable" classics garage for £9995.
boobydoo Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Great pics as usual Trigs. A few Sambas went on to 'D' reg and all would have been the run-out Style model which had sunroof, nice red cloth seats, pin-stripe etc. In fact it was still listed on price lists into 1987! Regarding the 309, I don't think I'd quibble about seeing anything 20 years old at a show...but I would expect it to be better presented ...like the Sierra you snapped which is the same age. That Sandglow Maxi however looked out the box!
Captain Mainwaring Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 And were those blokes in the Triumph genuinely pissed off? Surely if you take your classic car to a...classic car show you've got to expect people to want to take photos of it? D'oh, silly me. Though I think I like my version better.
trigger Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Another weekend, another show!, This time it's the Vintage & Kustom Spring Break show at Stonham Barns, It was the first time this event has been run and it wasn't brilliant if I'm honest, admittedly the weather didn't help but there was hardly anybody there part from the exhibitors and traders, this was due to a serious lack of adverting and the high admittance fee, £10 per person, regardless if your a exhibitor in a car or just a spectator. Anyway i digress with pictures... 1992 Honda Civic Shuttle 1.4 Auto by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1992 Honda Civic Shuttle 1.4 Auto by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr I imagine that this would course much wanking over on the blue forum. 1959 Vauxhall Cresta PA by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1965 Land Rover Light Weight by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1965 Chevy Nova by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1960 Dodge Seneca by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1963 Volkswagen Type 2 Samba Bus by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1954 Austin A40 Devon Countryman 2.0 by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1954 Austin A40 Devon Countryman 2.0 by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr This woody followed me home in the Cortina, I just spaffed my love custard everywere when it past me. 1969 Vauxhall Cresta PC 3.3 by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1956 Chevrolet i think? by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1936 Morris Fourteen with Jaguar Supercharged engine by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr Chevrolet 3100 Pick Up by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1961 Holden FB Special by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr Hot Rod by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1967 Cadillac Eldorado by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1967 Cadillac Eldorado by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr This isn't on the DVLA site so i guess it's a recent import. 1963 Ford Fairline by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1964 Ford Cortina 4.9 V8 Mk1 by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr

Albert Ross Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 This isn't all that it seems. Lightweights weren't made until 1968.... Interesting indeed... I would like a closer look at this one..! I hear bells. It also seems to have the wrong drive flanges on the rear, making me think this is a POST 1965 chassis, (Identifiable by the diagonal brace behind the front wheel) running civilian axles, but with a S3 Lightweight body on it..... but using S2a front panelling. I wonder if the chassis prefix is really a 236? Maybe it's a 241 and he's being a touch naughty.... EDIT. Just checked DOOVLA and it states manufacture/reg 1969... intersting.... my military 109 was built 1961, used 1962, reg 1973.... I wonder WHY this one is first registered 1969 as it shouldn't have been demobbed so soon.... and a C plate? Odder still.
vulgalour Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 That Morris 14 is a proper rat rod, as far as I'm concerned, and I'd be happier if more of the things that carry the 'rat rod' label looked like that. Love the Eldorado and that silly tall-cabbed white rod toward the end of the set.
eddyramrod Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 there was hardly anybody there part from the exhibitors and traders, this was due to a serious lack of adverting and the high admittance fee, £10 per person, regardless if your a exhibitor in a car or just a spectator. Lesson there for the organisers. I know they do it to make some money, but that's way too much for spectators, and therefore way-too-much x500 for exhibitors. No exhibitors = no event, cretins! They won't learn. 1956 Chevrolet i think? by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr I think it's earlier, the one-piece windscreen places it at 1953/54. I'm struggling with the grille though, that doesn't look like a Chevy grille but I can't find another that matches it. I'm thinking Oldsmobile, probably, but it could be Pontiac. Oldsmobile got the wraparound screen for 54 which at least would help to date it.
ashmicro Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Super pics as always Trig. Some fabulous tin there.
eddyramrod Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Absolutely! (Sorry, should have said that...) If I can't have the 1960 Dodge I'll take the PA Cresta please... And yes, that Morris is a true rat-rod all the way!
trigger Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 I have a quick video here that i took of the Morris 14, It sounded like a food mixer!.
