Television adverts

Is it me being more grumpy than I normally am or are television car adverts getting worse and more pointless, the current Renault effort for the Megane features some smug git giving a lift to a tarty piece home from some social occasion who appear to be speaking in a foreign language which has been 'expertly' dubbed over in English.

Then there's the chap playing 'music' on glasses of water which form the shape of a Skoda, and the bizarre imagery of the computer generated humming bird on a flight through some surreal street furniture advertising an Audi, I think

The answers are probably 'yes' and 'yes', but you are not alone...

Just before we said goodbye to telly, the one that mystified me was the Mini Countryman one, that appeared to make lots of fun of potential owners by suggesting that they're all clueless in the countryside and fashion-concious idiots. Nice work BMW!

Yes, adverts are pretty pointless. More of a portfolio maker for pretentious wannabe film makers. I was told on my old Video Production course that these types of adverts are not made to sell cars, rather than to make those who have bought one feel good about themselves, how? I dont know.

Just before we said goodbye to telly,

Good man - the pictures on the radio are much better.

The worst are the Opel/Vauxhall ads which have half the scenes in common (the other half are the ones showing emblems). You're maintaining a supposedly entirely separate brand here- why on earth can't you just shoot a different commercial for the UK?

Though using Pet Clark to advertise your car is still a bit strange. She's probably nice enough and all that but it's not like she was the epitome of cool :?

Nice ad. I particularly liked how they all had the exact same trim level descriptions.

Today it would be 'the Focus 1.85 TDCi TITANIUM X has a newer GPS software than the Golf 1.97 TdI PD TRENDLINE @'

However, the best car ad of ever is definitely the Isuzu Gemini one.

STELLAR! That advert is definitley sinister.

Spike Milligan's Mini advert always makes me smile.

Fiat 127 ad. Don't remember this at all.

I've been trying without success to find the 124 ad where the car is dropped from a plane with a parachute but can only find a Korean version.

This is nice ...

Can anyone find the ad where the car is driving along railway car transporter trucks? Haven't seen it for years. Cannot remember if it is 126, 127 or 128.

i like the ad for the citreon c3 with the 3 pug dogs jacking the petrol lol

Sorry for the Fiat overload... this 126 film is just bonkers. Is that Sally Thomsett at 4.26?
