The overriders are in the wrong place. I'm sure they know that and they've done it deliberately but it looks particularly silly on the back as they encroach on the loadspace.

But it's their car and they might not like some of my mods so I'll be quiet.

Rubber inserts! Wrong, IMHO.

Those are actually correct, they just stand out more because they are in the wrong place. The original mk1 2000 had all chrome overriders but the rubber inserts were added on the face-lift cars. These would be a straight swap on to the 1300. I've often thought about putting all chrome ones on my car but never enough to do anything about it.

I remember the inserts on later 2000s, but didn't think 1300s had them - sure my G reg didn't.

If it didn't then somebody swapped them. I have seen them without but they're not original.

My memory playing tricks again - all the online pics of 1300 FWD's have inserts. I don't have a parts catalogue for them, and the 1500FWD one shows the small under-riders at the front and nothing at the back.

The original brochure lists 46 items that it says are built in, not extras. Check out number 44. Apparently they are a luxury item.

Thanks for siding with my wife and proving that my memory is getting worse! 😀

Glad you've found the definitive answer and apologies to Stuboy for the thread de-rail.

We most certainly will :) It's the same as Dan's!  Mercury Marquis, or Grand Marquis.  P-suffix registration (which should NOT be white-on-black!) suggests 1975-6 but that isn't 100% reliable.  However: OBA---P would not have been issued in-period.  BA would have been issued in Salford, where turnover would not have been fast enough to support OBA 243M and OBA 787P, less than two years apart.  The M plate was on my 1974 Vauxhall Victor that I owned in 1986.

Indeed, as @eddyramrod says. It’s a Mercury Marquis, same as mine but a bit newer. I think this model year is the same as the Red 2 door used on the Uncle Buck movie which John Candy drives and calls ‘the beast’.

Looks like this cars vacuum operated headlight doors are not working though (they default to open if the vacuum circuit is lost), no hub caps but it does look hard and pretty cool with plain black steels! It’s also missing its rear wheel spats!
Mighty fine rig though!
