Like most on here, it does nothing for me. The styling is just too bland for me.

I sat in one at the NEC classic car show, It seemed ok, Quite comfortable, but had a nasty cheapness about it, Very East Koran feeling, and i was suprised that in this day and age it still only came with a 5 speed gear box.

This on the other hand was a MG Zero concept car, I thought this looked a bit better personally, I still can't see it getting many bums out of a Mini/DS3 seat though.

Saw the advert - thought it was a road safety ad at first with a Korean (whatsthatcarwhogivesafuck) about to bang into some smarmy git's old MGB on a twisty road.

Just looking forward to the crash and clunk-click message when - feck me! - it's the ad for the "anonymous designed and marketed by chubby orientals in bad suits and clap at each other a lot but don't know what heritage means and really want to pull down the Forbidden City to build a plateglass modern hotel stuck in the seventies but will be glad if they get 3% of the Shanghai taxi trade" ... that is the MG6.

Ohh boy anoymous Korean looks and the slimmest connection to MG (as was)... who will be brave enough to buy one and seen the depreciation that would make your eyes water?

Basically the British public won't give a feckaroo - as far as everyone will be concerned this will be a very expensive Korean substitute that looks like the worst investment you could make on 4 wheels.

I predict they will disappear in 18 months and only be occasionally seen painted black and yellow with a roof light on the steets of Beijing.

As for the 75 - good car in it's way and time but the design is 12 years old already, it ain't gonna set anyones world on fire if marketed now - a bit like exhuming Bernard Manning and expecting him to be funny again - They might flog a few if the pricetag was £8k though...

Overall it is a shame, if they had been braver (and more European) in design, spent more money on quality, more money on marketing ( the website is crap doesn't even show the available colours let alone have a configurator ) and had a 25% lower price we maybe could have seen one on every other corner by 2013...overall it looks like a halfhearted effort.

Thats assuming he was funny in the first place!

Thats what I was wondering, if they marketed at a "budget" price it might sell quite well.

The arse looks like a Vauxhall Insignia.

I thought it looked big until I saw the pic with the folk in it & the windows down

then I thought it looked much smaller - Shuma - ish

I suspect I will never own one.

I like it and really hope it does well. Did order a brochure which never arrive and I just get random error messages by email from them every now and then, which isn't exactly a promising sign

I like it, and i hope it sells, its creating jobs here so good luck to it!

If the build quality is half decent and they dont rust, then its alrite i recon :)

I thinks it looks 'ok' in the same way as loads of stuff. Not even nice....just ok as in not bad.

Not sure on the quality though......that tv ad has a close up on the front and it looks like its wobbling........

oh........and that interior looks very bmw 3/5 series in shape/style

An excellent Motorpoint/Broadspeed pre reg buy @Dodge Avenger or the Saabilac.

New purchase at list? Never.

Does it come in beige?

I reckon, come 2029, we'll be fighting over these on Fleabay; Mr Bollox will have hidden one away at his chateau, and Nigel Bickle will have bought 4.

Posted
and Nigel Bickle will have bought 4.

And stripped at least two because it's the only way to get the parts!

Seriously, if it's UK-built I'd like to see it do well. It could, you should never overestimate the stupidity of the car-buying public; but I can't really see it. It's no more an MG than I am.

The back and side profile makes it look like a shrunken Insignia, the interior looks very Vauxhall and the front looks like... well... a Proton. But less good.

I really, really hope this does well, but I have the most horrendous feeling it's gonna land flat on it's arse. No-one in their right mind would buy one new, and consequently no-one in their right mind will get a chance to buy one second hand. MG6 is also possibly the stupidest name I've heard of for a car to date.

I'd have one purely to see what they're like in ten years time... 5/10.

It looks lik a Proton with an MG badge

Yes, religion has that aspect...dreadful condition to have.

I'd scrub yourself down thoroughly to be on the safe side.

Well the Chinese also bought the old Ital and started turning them out called the Hongduchi or summat... and look what happened to that!

...er it disappeared actually

Hey, if Xanadu Ching Sheng Generic Enterprises (inc. Madness Angry Wasp In a Biscuit Tin Mopeds LTD) can keep CG125 and C90 Hondas rehashes on the road for light years I'm sure the Chinese can warm a few old Rovers up.

Same as Tata now own the Rover name could the CityRovers glorious return be just round the corner? Possibly not available from your local Jaguar-Land Rover dealership :D

The difference is that the CG125 and Honda C90 were third world transportation icons - these recent Rovers can't be compared

That's the one [image quoted for emphasis]. It really looks like they stole the design off Proton.

Looks nicer than the Golf, Focus and Astra

I see old Ranault megane in the side profile.

I believe Proton were trying to emulate the look of the Mazda 3 of the period?

From the depths of my mind, that Proton Gen2 thing had something to do with Rover. At the time of its inception, it was looking like a Proton-Rover deal was on the cards, and some collaboration had been going on. ISTR it was in the "We Hear..." section of CAR magazine.

Was that why it was so shite perchance?

Proton should have stuck with Mitsubishi - something they are trying again once more - not sure if it's too little, too late though....

Well, it's always enough for the sizeable Malaysian market where imports are taxed to buggery!

That said, I definitely wouldn't kick a Perdana out of bed!

Why do so many modern cars have the front indicators in such idiotic places? Those are going to be completely invisible with the headlights on.

The Mitsubishi connection is the only reason I bought a Proton - I'm sure they brought a couple of Perdanas over to the UK for the Proton UK execs to run around in?

I suppose you could just buy the equivalent Mitsubishi Galant to smoke around in of course.
