Well I came across this site while looking for spares, and I have had a fair amount of stick for driving a car older than me (im 20 the cars 21) but to be honest I love it, its like driving a little go-cart. plus tax is like what £120 a year

Welcome! Do you have any porn, viagra or Ugg boots you want to sell?

Hi, R19dude. :)

On the estate I grew up on there's an old boy with an early F reg 19 'Energy' in pale metallic blue. Looked absolutely immaculate. On a visit to my parents a few weeks ago I spotted it again. Good to see it around still.

Nice, since buying the car for £100 Ive not seen another..

I was ran over and put in hospital in March 1989 by a Renault 19, I was quite excited as the car had only just been released in the UK and it was the first one I'd seen, I'm possible the first person in the country to be ran over by one.

That's my claim to fame. :D

Oh and welcome BTW.

I was only 8 and laying under the front wheel, I didn't happen to catch it to be honest...

Also if i had spotted it the chances are i wouldn't have been under the car in the first place.

Welcome dude, and let's hope the 19 is just the beginning for you... :D

That's just had me howling with laughter like a right mong. "I was hospitalised by a car, but was excited because it had only just been released!" If that doesn't sum up the Autoshite spirit, I don't know what does.

It's along the same lines as when I witnessed a hit and run, I was about 13 or so. Police called, they asked me in their best patronising voice to describe the car.

"It was a diamond black Orion. Reg number "

"Thankyou sonny, that's a great help"

"It had the ghia injection wheels on but I don't think it was a real ghia injection, the bumper trim was silver not red. probably a gl or something, I think the ghia had the black bit between the lights, this one didn't"

"errrrrrr."

Welcome aboard. I had an H-plate 19 a few years ago, 1.4 pov-spec it was too. Now we have a Megane 1, and I really can't see the difference, apart from the rounded off corners!

If, by any chance, you're after a handbook pack, I've got a couple cluttering up a bookcase, and you'd be welcome to one.

Welcome along.

silly question time, what was the number plate?

A plastic and perspex, or occasionally pressed steel, item attached to the front and rear of each car that displays a hopefully unique identity for that vehicle. Most cars have them.

Other than that, wilkommen. Pics of said 19 are required. :)

The only thing ive been after for it, is 2 knobs for the heater control panel, and a fuel filler flap (not the internal locking fuel cap). I have the orginal log book and wallet, there was also an orginal advert flyer in the wallet too,

A shite picture of a shite car taken this morning before I set off for work....

quality shite the R19....

BTW, Any mates who laugh at you for driving a car that is older than you are are obviously:

a/ retards

b/ have more money than sense

c/ are very very sad......

make an effort to learn how to maintain the car and you will have the last laugh - because then you enter the hallowed ground of free motoring.

When I was your age (20 years ago) everyone who was lucky enough to own a car typically drove one that was older than they were - why - because cars are expensive and older ones easier to fix....it is a sad indictment of the modern world that the yoof think that a car over 20 years old is ...old...

when I was a nipper old cars had tents for roofs and spoked wheels and needed a handle to start them......grumble....mumble....whippersnappers....mumble...

NURSE! NURSE! He's fallen asleep and wet himself again!

Too true.

I'm dreading the day my 3 year old son grows up and asks me to help him change the particulate filter on his secondhand Pug 30099 dizzler.
