Anyone interested in a Dutton Sierra?

You''ll recall I'm moving cars out of my fire damaged shed-to tear it down & rebuild.

My neighbour has agreed to let me store those vehicles short-term in his backyard - whilst I decide their fate.

However- he asked my help with a vehicle left by a paying tenant.Seems said tenant has elected not to pay-and handed over formal ownership.

Its a 'Q' plated Dutton Sierra estate, mustard coloured- now half overgrown under a tree. Its fibreglass- so external rots not a problem. Wellers, I think, interior looks complete- if messy, there seems to be a spare engine cover in the rear.

I'll hitch up the Gypsy and pull it out if anyone is seriously interested. Suspect its a 'token' payment- as Phil recgonises the weigh in value of grp!

Can do photos-if I'm not wasting my breathe?

Doesn't look like sarcasm to me.

In other words, it's going to be cheap, because the owner knows that GRP is not worth anything as scrap.

what engine/gearbox combo has it?

(the only bit worth any money on a dutton)

Is it a Q plate? If it's on its Escort donor reg then it might be woth buying to ring an Ezzy. You can tell I'm from Merseyside can't you? :D

Tonka on here is a member of the Dutton club isn't he?, I'd like to see the photos though.

I rather like these and would happily luzz about in one.

However I also rather like my testicles in my scrotum and would like them to remain there, so bringing one home isnt an option.

Shame really.

Presumably very close to Nigel's house, so not a million miles from you.

Ah, I should read whole sentences!

They're actually quite handsome looking things, I thought they were pretty ugly a few years ago.

Did someone say Dutton Sierra? :D

Here's one that's for sale right now. It's in Paphos though, so you'd need to come over and get it.

I wouldn't dismiss it just yet... the Dutton I sold a few years back had a rocket box, 1600E gauges and a favourable diff ratio. This might have all that and a 711 block. But then it might be a sunburst red chicken coup

Whatever, it will cause some SERIOUS envy on the school run, especially if it expires ourside the school gates and there is tesco 10/40 pissing all over the yellow chevrons

Still guilty of having a tax exempt one, but only for the useful bits I could get off it, rolling shell provisionally sold.

Its south of Horsham,West Sussex.

I doubt its moved in 3years.. No idea on the running gear -front end buried under a tree, and I'm not 'Ford' orientated. Sorry.

I'll get pics.

If it's of any help, according to the ebay car selling tool thing it was first registered in 1984 and it's a 1600 so I'm guessing it's Mk 3 Escort?, CVH maybe?.

I guess it depends if it's FWD or RWD to know which Mark Escort it is, saying that, I guess it could also be a Mk5 Cortina looking at the wheels, I'll shut up now.

Form an orderly queue, please.

Can I be right at the back, around the block? Thanks!

It'll still be a mk1 or mk2 escort underneath, not a mk3 - the Q plate isn't really age specific, it just shows when the kit was registered as going on the road.

999% sure it wont be a cvh

Bit of a gamble, it might be a 1600 crossflow which I suspect might be worth a couple of groat, or it might be a 1600 pinto which is worth its weight in mixed scrap.

Hey, Bol. Fancy A framing it home? I have some extra straps incase anything starts to fall off.

im out that way this week working if you wanna message me the adreess i will pop round and have a butchers

It's might be a crossflow, Ford kept making them for specialist car builders years after they stopped putting them in their own stuff.

Won't be a CVH, these were for FWD applications.

Pintos have ribbed cam covers, Crossflows don't, if you want to risk opening the bonnet NB!

Dutton Sierra series2

It will be based on a mk1 or mk2 escy with various bits (doors, fuel tank) added from an escort estate/van, bedfrod CF tail lights'.

Series 1 = flat bonnet

Series 2 = centre raised section on bonnet

Series 3 = rounded rear 1/4's with escort van/p100 tail lights.

unless the previous owner dropped a pinto lump in by mistake it will still be a crossflow.

If you guys really need to find out info on old duttons just ask... :)

Its not mine-its not on my land -so I cant just ''send you in''. Nor is it my decision to sell.

I'm over there from time to time-(as work permits) moving my cars to sort my shed -so if you're serious ,pm me your details and I'll contact you when I know I'll be over.

Thought you guys might like to know it was saved by a member of the owners club who plans to restore it.

Brave man.
