Blue850 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 A press release in an 1972 Irish Motoring Life magazine I have shows a white Six reg UOK 942K and a Morris 2200 SJO 836K
New POD Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 When My Granddad retired in 1976 he had a Wolsey 3 litre with EUL 27 numberplate, but there was a fault with the steering so he was persuaded to trade it in for a new Vandom Plas. An allegro 1500 TC 5 speed in cream. IMHO he was conned. In 1994 I attempted to buy this allegro off my uncle who transferred the numberplate and stuck it in a garage. He later scrapped it. 35K on the clock
catsinthewelder Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Another from the tat thread (thanks Spiney Norman) http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/1972-classic-wolseley-six-landcrab-22-litre-mustard-colour-spares-or-repair-project/1046238886#photo-content reg appears to be XSD359L Advert Type For SaleCategory: Classic CarsMake: WolseleyModel: SIXYear: 1972Title: Wolseley Six Landcrab 2.2 LitreI am reluctantly selling this tax exempt rare classic for spares or repair.I had plans to restore this car and had started to dismantle it in order to carry out repairs however a lack of time and facilities are now forcing me to move it on.The body has a lot of corrosion therefore i bought numerous body panels which will be included in the sale. These include both outer sills, 3 doors, boot lid, rear valance, front cross member and two front wings.I had repaired the inner floor foot wells and sealed with hammer rite approximately 3 years ago so hopefully that has preserved most of the floor.I removed the engine to carry out repairs on the body however the best part of this car is the engine, although visually it looks its age the six cylinder 2.2 litre engine started, ran and sounded like new. It had only covered 60,000 miles. This would be a great project for someone looking for a tax exempt classic. Please note that the pictures were taken before I started to dismantle the car. The car is still a rolling chassis. The parts I am supplying with this project are getting rare, and the front wings and bootlid alone cost almost as much as what I am asking for this project car.If you would like any more information please don’t hesitate to contact me on 07715054429ThanksJoe

purplebargeken Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I briefly had one of these. 18/85 or something like that. Lovely car, very comfy and got a lot of attention. It was that yellowy/greeny colour.
keef Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 Same colour as KUY519N spotted by Spottedlaurel on here some while back. :-This one has finally turned up again. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=738712102925356&set=gm.10153536652169900&type=3 Sudsprint and Uncle Jimmy 2
sloth Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 i think thats a different car. seems a 2 number reg?
keef Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 i think thats a different car. seems a 2 number reg?Could be but unlikely given the low number that survive. What do you think the reg is? Can you find the original thread on here, as there were some views of the front which would confirm?
Mr_Bo11ox Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I'm looking for a cheapish landcrab Keef if you hear of one nigel bickle 1
PiperCub Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Blimey that takes me back, dad had a N-reg metallic brown one (must have been one of the last) in the late 70's, huge thing, he bought it to give my sister & I more room in the back as we were always bickering (we still don't get on today!) and it worked as there was that much space. Mum liked it too. It was one of the first cars I ever drove at the age of 13 when I'd suddenly gone from short-arse to lanky-teen at the old market site in Maidstone (now built on). It was also the first car I was in an accident in, we were stationary, waiting to turn right and some mong in a Viva rear-ended us, damage to us? A bent towbar electric socket and a scratch on the bumper. The Viva? Stoved in front, coolant everywhere, dad just shrugged 'Need to look where you're going mate' he said, we then left him to it. Was a reliable old bus but dad got a bit fed up with the fuel consumption and bought a Mk1 Cavalier instead a couple of years later. That was the first car I ever spun! But that's another story. Both will be long gone now.
Louise2cv Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 defo looks like KUY 5 and the letter looks most likely to be N, I'd be surprised if it was a different car.
Jon Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I'd say it's the same too, due to the circular sticker in top right hand of the windscreen in both images. That, the colour and the KUY reg would be pretty unlikely to be two different cars. What's the story on two solid looking Sixes being laid up like that?
flat4alfa Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 It is the same car SpottedLaurel photos were taken 2008, when known as a non-runner It still is a non-runner. Might be the autobox, of course
Royale80 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I know not on topic but.My father had one of these in 1978/79 for a few years- a maroon automatic. OHJ 917M. What a comfortable car!Had a few problems with the alternator- a right pig of a job. The wheel had to come off to access the alternator-it took ages to change.Used to tow the caravan around-an improvement over the previous 1.3 mark 2 Cortina. It liked drink! Replaced it with a 4 year old mark 1 Granada 3.0 manual-now that was fast for its time! Steve
keef Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 I'm looking for a cheapish landcrab Keef if you hear of oneWill keep my eyes open, but prices do seem to have shot up recently. What is your idea of cheap?

OHJ 917M✗ UntaxedTax due: 27 September 1984MOTNo details held by DVLAFather sold it to a newsagent in 1982-by that time the power steering had given up the ghost. He hit a stone which caused a leak on the rack-cut the power steering belt and developed stronger muscles. Still think the auto selector was in one of the best positions ever! Steve
Mr_Bo11ox Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Three figures!! Obv I wouldn't pay £999 for a rotten heap like. If that un-MOT'd blue one on the bay was 6-700 rather than £1300 I'd probably get on it
Spottedlaurel Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I seem to recall it had a tow rope attached and was dumped at the side of the road! It was across the road from a garage, I assume it was something to do with them (or one of their employees). It later turned up for sale in nearby Ipswich on eBay, IIRC might have been someone who was thinking of racing it and the probably realised it was too much hassle. Interesting to see it's still around anyway.
