The Autoshite Day Trip 2010 - Stondon Museum - 26 Sept

So, how about we have another go at organising this thingamyjig at Stondon then.

I propose Sunday 26th September. Long enough ahead that diaries may be free but not so far that we forget all about it.

Venue: Stondon Motor Museum http://www.transportmuseum.co.uk/

There will be no opportunity to test your car on a track but a bag of Whitworth spanners and a broken scotchlok connector will be available for car park based repairs that might get you home.

All in favour say "Jolly Good Show"

Sounds good to me so on that basis 'Jolly Good Show'

Jolly Good Show! Nice work Mr Seth sir.

EDIT - Balls. That's the 2CVGB AGM weekend. Jolly Good Show Cancelled.

SECOND EDIT - Actually, AGM is the Saturday so as long as we're not planning a 7am start, I should be able to make it. Sorry...

Can you book an exclusive Autoshite day there?

I'd be up for that jolly good bash.

Can't promise that I wouldn't become aroused at the sight of their FSO 125P Estate though, or that I'd be able to avoid having a little sniff at the interior of the kitten and the Fox, maybe licking their dashboards discreetly.....

It appears to be roughly a 550 mile round trip for me, but how else can a chap get a fix of red FSO nowadays?

I'm up for it, The only disappointing thing is that the Battlesbridge car show is on that day which is a good show that i was thinking of booking the Opel in for.

But sod it, It be nice to meet up with everyone and I'd love to see the museum as well.

I'll have to book the time off work as holiday but I can try to be there. If I do go I'll be in the A35, not the Maestro though.

Dunno. Bit of a long motorway slog for the kind of lousy old toss I'd be turning up in.

That's the weekend I'm coming back from Czech, so maybe a possibility.

I might be up for this, maybe I should set that as a deadline for fixing the Aggro. Its about 5 hours and at the moment that might just wipe out the worlds supply of oil if I run it "as is".

Seth.

I will do an 'event' thingy on Faecesbook - do you want some one to liaise with the museum over advance notice - they may need extra stale sandwiches & weak lemony drink?

Also, a title amendment on the thread to include location / time??

I might well be up for this, could be in the rusty escort daily hack, and or one of the slightly mouldy Vivas... Alas I don't do this modern thing called Facearsebook....

You will know me by my smell of gearbox oil and to assist the visuals I look like the Stig...

(Stig as in Caveman, not Mr Ben "I is selling a book" Collins)

To quote that best ever Autoshite spammer,

Great!

Pog, I'll get Mrs_Seth to keep an eye on the facebook thing in case the whole of the internet decide they want to come. If its only a dozen or so of us then I don't think there'd be any need to let them know in advance. They seemed to cope pretty well when the Farina run I went on last year arrived all at once.

I'm very interested in your old toss, if you'll pardon the expression!

Posted

I looked at your facebook link Pog but it wouldn't let me join, maybe you need to be invited first? Unless it's because I'm looking from my iPhone though?

Posted

I looked at the faecesbook page too, can see it but thats all I can do but then thats probably cos I have a business facebook page rather than a profile.

But whatever, I'll be there. Long drives in old Renaults FTW!

Posted

Ah shafts, no can do that weekend, I'm travelling back from my holidays!!!

Posted

Pretty sure i sent you an invitr trig. I will check when i get home.

Should be up for that I would reckon. I'm catching a 6.30am flight to Marrakech on the Monday morning, but the flight is from Luton and Stondon is sort of kind of vaguely on the way to Luton from mine, so might just find a Travelodge or something nearby rather than driving all the way home.

Hirst man, head across to the A1 and have a leisurely & traffic free trundle down. Stop & gawk at the Newark Lightening, break for some Rio & a scotch egg bar at colsterworth or sojourn to the roadside sex shops to buy/sell Hirst Candy as necessary...

Can't make it, but if you guys see a green de Tomaso Deauville there, give it a pat on the bonnet from me.....................

I'm going to try!

Although as Little Miss Tops is currently only a week old - its difficult to say for certain :-)
