Wales in a MGB, talk to me!

Me and this little cheeky chariot are heading in the direction of Wales Wednesday morning.  Destination unknown, I'm going to chuck a wee tent in the car and have the booking.com app and just wing it really.

I'd like to start in the south and head north,  drive through the beacons and get in some good driving roads, but I'd also like to check out some random shite.

Now I'd like to keep things budget friendly so can anyone recommend places to visit?

Old ruins, caves, historical poi, scienic walks, driving roads, cafes, museums, transport , lawn mower museums,  whatever really, Quirkiness is good. Busy and touristy not so much.

I know we have quite a few shiters over this way, if anyone fancies a brew , a drive out somewhere or wants a hand tinkering with some old shite I'm down!

Llandudno.  But then, I am biased.

Fancy helicoiling a spark plug back in the Dyane's portside cylinder head on your way home?

Totally up for that if you want some motivation and a second set of eyes to get it done

Aberystwyth and go up the cliff railway, the food at the cafe at the top was very good last time we went.

I like Llandudno, which is handy because I live there!

Other things I like - campsite above Harlech, has one of the best views in the world merthyrfarm.co.uk and some good roads round it. Harlech Castle is also worth a visit.

It will be raining, so the slate caverns at Blanau Ffestiniog is worth a stop as it’s dry, as is the railway that runs from there down to Porthmadog   https://www.festrail.co.uk/ Porthmadog has the excellent Purple Moose brewery.  The A470 there over the Crimea pass is also quite scenic from there.

angleseytransportmuseum.co.uk is across the bridge and also worth a visit.

1950s museum in Denbigh is small, but quite good fun.

So many walks - what sort of thing do you like? Plenty in Gwydier forest with old industrial legacy stuff around form the mining.

Slate museum at Llanberis is quite interesting, also some good walks.

Only open at weekends though.

Not open until Easter. They have to drain all the engines down now freezing is possible. The A487 coast road can be a joy this time of year. Spur off towards Devil's Bridge and the Elan Valley for sure. Lovely roads.

caerphilly castle is good, and they've recently reopened the top tier after some work.

if your going by @Skizzer's way, he has some extremely rare 4ft fluorescent tubes that he has kindly been holding onto me for a few years now, if those could find your way into the back of the MGB and thus eventually closer to me, that would be much appreciated :)

they have brass ends and are made of woods glass, so they look nice to look at!
