Japanese import 3.0 supercharged V6 petrol?

Can get Japanese imports with the 5.oh as well. Although I think they can be a bit timing chain-ey depending on the year

CAP average 2300

168K miles

Sold by a dealer who presumably tried retailing it first or deemed it not worth retailing

and someone paid £4400 to own it?

This is why I'm never tempted by auctions 😂

Or discovered it was fucked and wanted shit ASAP.

I do hope you’ve sought permission from Autoshite for this purchase! Could very well be turned down and you’ll have to have a Triumph Acclaim!

No it's only new ones that incite moral panic. LCBL is fine.

These are cheaper than D2s, mainly due to engine failures and the £££ of repairs.

great buy. Run it till the engine throws the crank and weigh it in 💪

OK.. I have ascertained its not a snapped crank...

Its a snapped cam chain

Which is likely and probably... as bad!

Perhaps just top end damage? I'm wondering if a dead unit with a snapped crank could donate those bits?

I've got a 2016 D4 Graphite for sale now if you're looking for another!

Will more than likely be out of my price range at the minute (House deposit savings is all Ive got so cant use that)

Possibly, find a broken engine and use it for parts... BUT... by the time ive put all of that labour into it might as well get new parts.

Figuring out what to do.. likely end up fragging it. Id rather have something like a nice Automatic Focus, or a Mondeo.

The only decent LR later than a Disco 300tdi is an FL2. I would dearly love to believe different, but hey ho.

Sorry to hear your news. What a pain in the hoop.

What condition is the rest of it in? Interior? Chassis? Any other faults? May be a hero would take it on for a TDV8 swap. I've got designs on doing just that but probably needs to be a commercial version to work for what I want.

snapped cam chain

Belt not chain? (Or is there a chain in the system as well?)

Funny crunching noises, engine not turning over, sudden clunk or just a FTP?

Front belt is doable without body-off.

Rear belt is sometimes not changed as it's only for driving and 'timing' the fuel pump and does no damage when it fails.

At 170k+ miles, without any previous changes, possible for just the rear belt to have failed?

Sorry - clutching at straws.... or just factually incorrect!

Timing belt drives the exhaust cams on each bank then a timing chain in each head linking exh to inlet cam. Chains have been known to fail like. Gutted for you @cpjitservices

Rear belt was doen not so long ago, with actual cam belts, but there are 2 chains running the cam shafts... i think thats whats snapped... on bank 1. Just had all 4 injectors done as well as 2 where poorly... that wasnt a cheap bill nor was gearbox service really as I had the mech unit out and all the seals replaced, it was driving better than it ever had. No warning it was going to shit itself at all.. no EML etc

Thanks man, my bro in law has offered me a Mondeo... Needs a turbo. Sounds a lot cheaper than engine replacement on a Disco 4....

Any takers - make an offer lol

I’ve already got 2 sat waiting for new engines that I can’t get the time to do otherwise I’d have been interested. That said if you come to fragging it give me a shout! I’m out of touch on values just lately but are they still doing a grand or so blown up? Be worth a round on eBay maybe?

Only 63k miles on it now, paid far too much for it. £735 tax for the LOLs too.

I'll have had it 4 years by this March. Hope it makes it to 173k miles.
