I still browse the build thread on retro rides from time to time. Some good builds still happening on there.

Bruce was a total legend to me. He was Chauffeur on my wedding day. Drove his Merc from Bristol down to Devon for the day, drove my Mrs to the venue and then both of us back.

I can’t find any pictures of it now (and googling «burnt out porsche» isn’t half depressing), but I thought it was absolute perfection at the time.

This was in the heyday of meaningless jacked up Safari 911 wannabees, outlaaawwrrrrgh Magnus Walker worship, and Singer diamond stitch leather clad engine bay wankery. And that thing just looked hard as nails.

There was a guy on there at the time with a Fiat 130 if I remember right, who was gluing it back together with pigeon shit welding like you wouldn’t believe. If anyone remembers that car that was about when I stopped bothering with the place.

That would have been the Ron? from Chesterfield with the Simcas or similar. In fairness he did says his welding was far from pretty but it was strong.

There were lots of other examples were worse was ignored because it was being done by the right people

I haven't visited for a long time, I think once KGF took over the classifieds and proper retro stuff stopped being easily affordable, it lost its shine a bit for me.

Plus @grizz posted plenty on the garage journal so i kept up with him there.

I used to post a lot on there 10-15 years ago, I found this forum through RR and quickly realised it was much more relaxed and user friendly on here with cars that interested more so I stayed here and didn't go back again.

He's still going and is still the top bloke/lovely lad he always was. Pretty sure he still runs the 'tat auction' for RR every year, the proceeds of which go to a charity.

Same. Beige swiftly took over from the Blue, but the RR meetings are still bloody awesome, friendly things that I wish I could get to more of.

One of my peeves was that the chief potato head never once thanked me for way over 1000 views PER DAY when I was building the Rezin Rockit.  Crazy…… footfall = Revenue from advertising. Which in turn buys Porches etc. 

I was not part of any clique so even things like thread titles were being edited because it may offend.
