Started thinking about some of the fettling this is probably going to want since I’ve got some time to kill between now and collection day.

Gearbox service has to be pretty high on the list. Seems easy enough* and it’s a box used in loads of different stuff as far as I can tell.

Is it the 5spd AW55 that was in the gooners/Saabs/Volvo's? Or the later 6spd TF-80?

Good buy btw! It's been a while since you've had some 00-era Renault chod.

It’s the AW55 as far as I can tell yeah. Is that the box of doom?

Not wishing to be a knob but, Markham Vale is J29a, if @Kiltox comes off at J27, other than Trudys Tasty Treats, theres bugger all there.

ooh I dunno, turn up at the right time and use the V6 POWERRRRR to upset some boy racers...

People have had problems with them but generally from not changing fluids.

Somewhere on here I have my 9-5 and Laguna II V6 fluid changes on that box.

The best way to change the fluid thoroughly is to remove one of the cooler lines and dump it into a bucket with the engine running in park. Measure carefully what came out and refill through the dipstick tube. This is effectively

Alternatively you can suck the fluid out the dipstick tube with a Pela pod and refill with the same amount. Checking the level requires the fluid at an exact temperature using a scantool.

Drain and refill you can do a couple of times (with a hundred miles between changes) to get most of it changed over. Strictly speaking less risky to dump and refill as you keep some clutch material in it if it's worn.

I used Mannol oils as it was a lot cheaper than the genuine crushed unicorn juice. Never seemed to do any harm and drove smoother afterwards.

Yea they do seem to congregate in the laybys there. Mind you a few times I've seen some folks letting a load of pigeons out their baskets at the same spot, must be a Mansfield thing.

Does it not have a drain plug?

Yeah I think so.

Again drain while measuring exactly what came out and refill with the same. Won't get as much out as removing a cooler line and effectively the same as sucking out of the dipstick tube. Dipstick tube suck just saves jacking it up. Refilling is always done through the dipstick tube.

I’ll be using one of those ultra ultra ultra rapid chargers before leaving.  Expensive though.

The best Greggs in the city. I usually get a bacon sandwich and espresso, get a bit of milk in the coffee and glug it down, then get the sandwich through security so I can enjoy it at my leisure on the other side. Costs like a third of what you'll pay once you're through security.

It's also a godsend when you're tired and hungry and you can't be arsed to cook proper food for yourself. Pasty and a doughnut, job done.

Gwan, come down the Allen valley and do Hartside on the way home.

That handbrake warning brings back happy memories of pulling away in one of these with it's arse dragging along, like a dog with worms.  Still in my top 5 of cars I've owned, mind.

That's the kind of sexy rear bumper detailing you will only ever find on a French luxury car.

The steak bake tour continues in the extreme comfort but mild peril that only a French luxury car can provide.

I hate you.

But only because you are in Hexham and I'm not at the moment

I can't remember if this age Velshatis speaks?

Reminds me of this golden video.

Automatic parking brake faulty. Consult your Renault dealer.
