re the trains it was cheaper to go to scotland twice in cars - one was a rental which for 4 days was cheaper than one of the train tickets

Jokes on you, it was already broken! Esp light just came on as well but other than that I like it a lot so far! Gearbox definitely needs a service but let's see if it's just the adaptions and it'll improve by the time I'm back.

Yes it's already broken.

I'm ashamed proud to have facilitated this purchase. Good luck @Schaefft on the long trip north, hopefully you can enter one of the radio codes in the paperwork to get some tunes through the Cabasse sound system.

It says something that a sub-£1000 2002 Rennow is more reliable than a public transport train-bus journey.

I'm guessing you'll be taking lots of those. The 2 litre manual example that every one else on here has owned only managed 28mpg over the 18,000 miles I drove it. I fucking loved it though, and  only ever had problems with the parking brake.

Light alderwood with walnut marquetry is darker than dark alderwood with walnut marquetry.

Back in Newcastle now so you can certainly make that claim! The handwritten radio code you sent me was the correct one, radio works well for what it is!

I've yet to find out how to switch the menus in the board computer. The trip from Leamington Spa to Newcastle took a bit over a quarter tank so I can't quite tell yet.

First impressions are very good though! The engine is quiet and has sufficient power to get the car moving. There's a slight pull to the right when accelerating (not so in any other situation). Together with the rather floaty ride above 85 this make for some interesting handling characteristics, certainly not all that confidence inspiring above that. I'll have to see if this can be removed entirely, I wouldn't expect torque steer to be this noticeable under light acceleration. It is however quite comfortable and very quiet at higher speeds, much quieter than you'd expect from a car with such a tall silhouette.

I am glad it doesn't have the terrible money pit 3.0 diesel that was put in saab and vauxhall of that era.

I think its general consensus that the Nissan V6 is the one to have. The diesel V6 is trash, the diesel 4-cylinder somewhat underpowered (and now an aging diesel), the 2.0T is alright but doesn't really gain you all that much over the V6 economy wise while being significantly less powerful. The smoothness and quietness of the V6 is also what gives the car a bit of a premium feel, I think something that it really needs to be taken seriously as something thats at least officially competing against Audi A6s, E-Classes etc.

I'd like to put my name forward when you come to sell this, as that interior looks a nice place to sit.
