Ever thought about doing conversions as a sideline? Just saying...

Honestly, my quality just isn’t good enough. I’ve always referred to myself as a jack of all trades, master of none. I’ll try and do everything but won’t be able to do a very good job 😂

As I said to @Dyslexic Viking, if you've built it, and it works ,(which it obviously does) then it's 100% better than the armchair experts.

If I'd created something of that standard, I'd be ecstatic.

I'd echo what @Mally said, seen how much stuff goes for with a couple of pallets bolted in?

From where I'm sitting that looks better than a lot of professional work. Don't be too hard on yourself, take a step back and be proud of what you've achieved with limited budget (no opportunity to suck air through your teeth and ask for more cash from a customer). Bloody excellent work that.

Yeah, who was it was saying recently about the fit of caravan doors? I think it was when @Bren was having a problem?

Looking at it I reckon you've got the balance between quality and speed just about right. If it was me I'd have got about 5% done - sure, it would be to a high standard but rate of progress would mean 2026 before it was done.

I'd be lucky if it was still the same century 😱

Brilliant job so far, gas bottle should be in enclosed space with a vent in the floor .

Yeah it’s in the cupboard, I will eventually fit a gas locker but I have a drop vent here to fit at the weekend and the gas will always be off at the bottle when not using the hob so I’m pretty comfortable with that.

Gas drop out fitted in the kitchen cupboard, ran out of carpet but found some locally on FB for a tenner. Different shade but I don’t think it looks terrible, bit of a contrast to the darker walls.

Started the frame for one side of the bed, ran out of timber though and waiting on a mate to finish the stud work in a garage he’s converting so I can have the left overs.

For a second I thought you had a brick effect splashback. Then I remembered it's a window 🤦‍♂️

Finished the sliding door, started carpeting the pillar between the back doors and the side walls, fitted a CarPlay screen thing.

Curtains aren’t ideal as the weird shape sliding door window makes it hard. Going to get some little magnets to hold the left curtain to the side as it sits shit.

Picked this up today off Facebook for £30 brand new sealed in the box. As I’m not going down the route of a full on shore power connection permanently in the van, this will be ideal when we’re on camp sites.

Wanted a handle on the sliding door as there’s not anything to really hold onto when shutting it from inside, bit of a random one but £8 for a couple of kayak handles off Amazon, tek screwed on and voila. Works a treat. Had a spare so stuck that on the rear door.

Also fitted some self adhesive tiles from Amazon which are fucking awful, paper thin, they’re wonky and generally just hate them but as a temp measure they will do. Plan on changing them ASAP though.

Final thing was to fit an 80mm vent cover in the gas cupboard, I’d already fitted the actual gas drop out through the floor but I wanted something to tidy up the cupboard side.

Said it before. Speed you knock these out you should consider it as a bit of a lucrative sideline imo

Don't sew your magnets into the curtain seams, they become a fucking nightmare and stick to each other and everything you don't want them to. Just stick them onto the C pillar and use them as and when required.

Handy advice, thanks!

Grand job 👍 Not sure about the tiles though 🤔

The BIL hand one professionally converted and its shite, roof light leaks, shower room leaked numerous times, the oven has never worked properly, don't know how many times its been back for fixing!

Woke up to a notification on my Amazon app to say the diesel heater had been refunded as its declared lost. Looks like they never realised it did get delivered in the end after going walkabout. Not going to complain as it’s £79.99 back in the kitty!

Ok so I’ve done the bed bases and given them one coat of paint, also picked up a 12v TV and soundbar off Facebook which is brilliant sound quality.

All I really need to do now is the tops of the beds, the middle drop in piece to make the full size bed and then some cushions.

Other than that it’s there or thereabouts done. I will eventually build some overhead cupboards too.

This is shaping up to look proper good - it's giving me evil thoughts about attempting something similar although my DIY skills are somewhat lacking.
