Yo @tooSavvy Would you like one of the French numberplates off this to decorate your shed/garage/model building area? PM me an address if so and I'll chuck one in the post.

You have PM

*We all may have a new one, on my birthday!

NB are they burying it or digging it up?

That's exactly what I read that as when I first saw it too!

Anyway, I've decided to write a little piece about this epic voyage on my Facebook.  I have an album called "Car of the Day", in which I just pick a photo of whatever car takes my fancy each day (it could be absolutely anything) and write a short piece to go with the photo, just for something to do.  Today, I chose the Simca starring in this thread.  I hope this piece is OK - info on the car comes from Wikipedia, so if anything is inaccurate about the car or the road trip, just let me know and I will correct it.

Went to work in it today, mixing it up in the Derby commuter traffic. 100 mile round trip. Bought a cup of coffee at Greggs then realised you don't get cup holders in 1970s motors. Had to drive along scorching my knackers off like a pro.

Had a sesh on this today with assorted aerosol cans. Gone from this:

I painted a bit on the back off the roof as well and the paint match is absolutely shocking, it's a mile out. The guy at the paint shop did it by eye and it looked ok at the time but it's bad. Still, at least the whole car is brown now which is an improvement. I'm gonna put it in the Ashover show at the end of July if anyone fancies checking it out!!!

Some of my paint efforts turn out better than others. Refitted the OSF  wing on the 929 today after spending ages (like weeks) tapping/filling/sanding/painting/lacquering it

Simca looks decent enough in the photo I have to say.

GR9.... Wish I was having as much success 'respraying' the tribute model. Bloody car-size aerosol paint delivery causes problems 😕...

Too much paint and it runs into drips...

I'm persevering and getting there [mine is keeping the 'tribute' primer!!] 👍

That paint job on the Simca looks great to me. Far better than the primer either way.

Your 929 is absolutely gorgeous too btw!

Not been on for ages as, tbh, my shite mojo has been at rock bottom. This thread Reg, is a proper tonic. Just like the old days, a fantastic adventure and top shelf, weapons grade chod. I fucking love it 😄😄
