Car with cage builder. Needs a week or so. Dash out. Sunroof hole getting riveted plate over it. Longer wheels studs coming. All good!58c47203-aae7-41d9-95b5-ef4b0f778cee.jpeg.7f8265f4186d7bc9db97a738ea3b8519.jpeg

We are aiming to picket the organisers office, BL strike style, to support the general Rover theme. They don’t know it yet. I’m after any militant union materials I can get my hands on to support the idea. Surprisingly slim pickings in eBay. I’d love a large banner with TGWU or communist party slogans on it. Braziers and stuff I can knock up over there. Any tips anyone?

ps - have been told we may get shot (properly shot) if we do this outside the circuit anywhere. We’ll be in the pit lane causing Red Robbo style chaos.

You'll get the car there to the track and to mask the fact it doesn't work you're just going to all go on Strike?

Deloitte fined £14m over MG Rover sale

In pictures: Longbridge MG Rover factory closure in 2005 ...

The battles to save MG Rover - Birmingham Live

MG Rover campaigner Andy Cartwright - 10 years on from that awful ...

They all seem fairly homemade. So probably why eBay is coming up short.

Wouldn't be beyond anyone here with a bit of cardboard from Aldi and poster paint to make one of these. I might even scrape off some of the rust and shit from my own Rover and mix it in to the paint for authenticity.

You’re all invited! If you’re not striking already.

I'm going to forgo the opportunity to pretend to be a communist in a country where they are feared and hated :)

Thanks comrade. I shall hold endless meetings on that theme and, together, we shall smash our capitalist overseers. After tea break. Perhaps. A bit.

Do you have a glowing brazier? I bet Walmart or Harbour Fright will sell you one, scabs that they are.

Here we go, finest mexican glowing brazier.

Thanks. That’s expensive. Might just use a wheelie bin and some petrol.

It is a bit salty; Walmart's extensive range of galvanized trash cans turns up the same thing* for a third of the price.

What a brilliant thing!  Do you offer sponsorship?

Yes. Send monies. I will do literally anything to help fund this stupidity

Cage almost ready. Electrical safety shit plugged in. New dash panel created from a cake tin courtesy of a team member who works for a cake tin manufacturer. Sunroof plated over with other cake tins. Cake tins are excellent for repair panels for racing Rovers.

Plus…. There’s a button labelled Slim Jams which, when pressed, plays a Bluetooth stereo system of pre-set Jazz funk tunes where our hero played the drums. This is important.

And - there’s a spare mechanics spot if anyone else is as stupid as us.

Too bad I'm broke, because I'd pay well if you'd dressed like below for a month.

I think it's better if you give us a price so people here can join together if needed, crowdfund?

And the cage is finished. So shiny! So nice! So expensive! (Actually we got a good deal on the cage although it cost 6 X what we paid for the car itself).

US $75.20? Wowsers ;-)
(That's the sort of welding that (1) I would love to be able to do (2) failing that, just sit and stroke it. Does that make me weird?)
