It`s a KV6, but up to now seems to be fine, no emulsification to be seen anywhere nor any temperature gauge chicanery to be witnessed.

Bodywork v.tidy, about as good as it looks in the pics, the odd clunk giving rise to a suspicion that some suspension-related work may be required, and a blowing exhaust (back box) are the only things that reveal themselves at this time. And the speedo doesn`t work, are these cable? Hope so.

Mega! This coupes look really good and are sure to be really sought after in the future. Probably only by 'shiters or mad BL type people though so values will obviously stay rock bottom...

I like those and I particularly like them in that colour. You have my full backing in this instance!

Hey look at RUB sneaking into the photo there!I have to say I'm pretty impressed with it, I was poking around an 820 Fastback in a scrapyard this morning and it was nice, but the Coupe seems to have a bit more about it. Apparently, they were mostly hand-built!The interior is quite something too, loads of buttons all over the place and has a nice "stately home" ambience to it, all wood and chunky leather. Sterling is meant to be the top luxury one so it makes sense, Vitesse being the equivalent sporting version. It's a manual box too, which seems fairly rare amongst any of the V6 ones.Hopefully at some point I'll commandeer it to drive to the off-licence in, preferably whilst wearing a cravat and smoking a pipe.

Very nice, great lloking car you've got here, you've managed to achive something I havent yet.Mind if I stick these up on the Rover 800 forum?

I was undertaken by a BRG Rover 800 Coupe on the A47 Thorney Bypass last week. I flashed and honked in disgust.

Beautiful! More pics when possible, PLEASE!

Wow, a manual KV6 job is a rare spec indeed, nice work. These are not a cable speedo, but if the speedo is the only u/s feature, ist probably the sensor on top of the gearbox playing up.I'd love one of these, they are a proper interesting car I reckon and the interior is the bees knees. Also, GR8 4 MANAGERS OF 4TH DIVISION FOOTY TEAMS.

A considerable amount of WANT has been generated. Good work, gentlemen 8)

Do I recall you once also suggesting these were popular with wife-swappers?Looks to be a fine acquisition to me, been a while since I last saw one. Probably now is the time to buy one and get it into good shape, as I suspect getting hold of mechanical/suspension parts will become increasingly difficult in years to come.

Kwal. Only ever seen a handful (though a bloke at work has a gold one), any ideas on numbers made?Agree with Seth about future values but it's a shame because these look really nice.

That is really quite smart. I have quite a "crush" on these old rovers, I would like one of these coupes, but would be just as happy with a 4-door turbo one. However, I think I would be ostracised from Pog Towers as 'Er Indoors has a strong dislike of Rovers....(*They are for old men, she has just commented*)

Superb. Much wantage. I think I have som technical data on CD for these. PM me Vic if you'd like details.

She'll only have to wait a couple of years then! Fnarr!

I was 20 when I owned my 800, of course I harboured a secret desire to become a greasy old wife-swapping pub landlord fourth division football team manager.I would love a coupe, the early KV6 is quite a scary engine though. I'd have to keep a nice VM turbodiesel as a backup to go in when all the wobbly handbuilt KV6 internals give up.

^^^^ Good call, I love the VM engine. It would be like an Audi A5 2.7TDi, but 15 years older.Phact: Rover 800 diesels have a Chrysler Voyager gearbox.

There are worse career choices. See "grumpy" thread for details of several.

Or a more modern Volvo 780 TD. Rover missed a trick there.I may have broken the Chrysler gearbox on mine by running about for a while with minimal clutch hydraulics.

GR27 4 DOWN AND OUT PUB LANDLORDS...Had a similar problem with my old Roover 214's leccy speedo not working. Found it to be a broken earth wire near the main earthing point where the battery is. May be worth a quick peek to check nothing is broken?

Really good - the nicest of the 800s and definitely a future classic IMHO.

Thought it was going to be one of these for a second:

But it's still good. Didn't know they came in coupe form.

A Beauty. Always liked those, something pleasantly wafty about it, like a motorised coconut macaroon with a cup of tea.Hopefully the inevitable minor electrical problems dont prove too tricky to sort. Probably worth contacting Mr Keith Adams of Aronline as I am sure he will know a trick/person or two to sort out the niggles. Great save!

I love these. A German colleague of mine has a Honda-engined one and it's a minter. Now he's pretty much permanently in the UK, he's possibly looking at selling it. He's had quite a bit of interest even at around 4000 Euros.
