This one's for my partner's neice who's just passed her test. I have a fairly short snagging list but it's MoT'd until March, has electric widows and central locking plus rear pop-outs - and cost £500. I think the stickers put other people off as that's about half what they're going for currently - and it includes the plate that the guy paid £300 for

Maybe @LightBulbFuncan shed some light on the previous registration?

does this link work? https://www.freecarcheck.co.uk/free/VjMzRUFU-MTY4NzEwNDI5NA/

if not heres a screen-shot from it, looks like its original reg was/is RE04WWR until V33EAT was applied on the 12th of October 2022

looks like a nice wee thing as they say, goes well with the pale yellow one :) which is also nice, I think these Lupo's look their best when they are some nice bright colour

Yes I agree - we passed a fantasia green one on the way back and had a little beep

Yes it's weird isn't it! They're definitely the same size.

We did a size comparison with the FIL's Vitara he's just bought (on the drive in a couple of pics). Other than the spare wheel they're almost the same length

No but I've topped the fluids up if that's of interest?

So far I know I need to do all the usual service bits including cambelt, as I don't know when it was done.

Centre exhaust is blowing

OSF seat doesn't tilt and is a bit worn anyway

Parcel shelf missing

Coin tray cover missing

Gear lever gaitor adrift

NSF window reg faulty

Rear headrests missing

Boot lock knackered/tailgate won't open

Rear wiper arm removed (in car), possibly to fit vinyl graphics

Stickers need to come off!

NS sill lip needs straightening out

Slight rumble from a rear wheel bearing

Clutch bite high

Handbrake pointing at the moon - TADS and I've just sorted it on the lemon one

Won't the stickers come off with encouragement from a heat gun? People are so lazy. Electric widows sounds alarming, a euphemism for those things that used to be advertised in the back of gentlemen's literature. 🤣

Yeah I'll get the heat gun/hairdryer on them.

Ah I see now, electric WIDOWS. Like Black Widows but more exciting

Is that a fairly new feature? I didn't realize free car check went to the effort of actually telling you previous plates!

Ah, you've managed to buy all the common 00's VAG foibles in one convenient package. You lucky bugger 😁

It was a slightly odd purchasing experience. The Mrs saw it on FB as a "VW Luppo" for £800. Messaged the seller and was getting one-word answers then no response at all. She was also asking about a Corsa elsewhere and asked me to try the Luppo guy.

I got the same, one word answers and just a postcode/number for the address. We were thinking maybe it's someone who doesn't speak English very well.

Turned up to the address on the seafront outside a few restaurants and a harried looking white guy rushes up, thrusts the key, logbook and reg. transfer paperwork into my hand and says he'll leave us to it. OK then...

Had a look over it, I can see it has some needs but is basically good and runs well. Mrs says it would be good to get it for £500. At this point matey reappears and says he's popping out for a bit. I hand him the keys etc back and say we'll have a think as there as some things to fix on it. He says £500 will buy it and walks off. No brainer then, we message him we'll take it, so after a futile search for a cashpoint that Google insists is nearby, we agree on bank transfer and are ushered through the kitchen of his restaurant into a tiny office where he prints us a receipt and lets us take the complete V5 as he'll forget to deal with it.

Happily it's still showing as taxed etc so we scuttle off home without a further ado. Performance seems to be identical to the 1.0 because of higher gearing, so is less revvy on the motorway. Drives really nicely all things considered

I first noticed it spitting out previous registration marks around Christmas time, I figured they had started including it, because they still have to pay for all of every lookup even if they are not showing all of it LOL

Little late Christmas gift for those who follow this thread!

but I noticed just now that https://www.freecarcheck.co.uk/

now spits out previous registration marks if a vehicle has previous plate history :)

but I will mention that since then, I have noticed all tools that use the Experian backend have become a a lot more flakey in spitting out exact car info/history for some reason

I can't see any mention of TAO488S here. 1977 Leyland Cars Princess 2200 HL owned by former shiter Breadvan72 (but for sale) and piloted to today's BL Autumn Rally by the esteemed Mr @Skizzer.

TAO488S.thumb.jpg.f29608b766858af13e0b17289a64ac6c.jpg

Also in attendance were known cars KKN840P and LRX19P, all attracting a lot of attention.

for example if you take this Princess

On 15/06/2023 at 23:08, LightBulbFun said:

technically we do already have that one, but as SAK739S :) but its sadly been robbed of its plate (why?!) and given TAO488S as an age related plate (as I said on Page 20, when you have studied the British registration system as hard as I have even suffix age related plates stand out like a sore thumb to me LOL)

image.thumb.png.9dbe0901016a7b266b35f446e13f9d63.png

and run it through car-check

https://www.freecarcheck.co.uk/free/VEFPNDg4Uw-MTY4NzEzMzgyNg/

it will claim theres no plate history when there is, so thats something to keep in mind when using this tool to check for plate history, if you suspect a car of having previous plate history, id also run it through Carbaba which wont tell you what the plate is, but will tell you if there is a plate change (Carbaba however does also use Experian as its back end so can still give false negatives, but I have found it to be the most reliable)

D'ya reckon that reg is retained or would it just get a random plate if we sold EAT?

Generally it goes back onto the original plate, unless someone has taken that off and transferred it to another vehicle (unlikely)

No.

Came off easily enough, hot air gun actually made it worse as the glue melted and left residue

20230619_121427.thumb.jpg.498ec90f261f5adb143aa851e88b26f5.jpg

Rear wiper arm was in the car -  all works but needs a blade

Found the front for the cupholder, cleaned 20 years of gunk out and got it working

Straightened

20230619_112659.thumb.jpg.90f0c6ec55277be43345a82f51747846.jpg

Got the boot open, still needs a lock barrel but locks from the central locking. Did discover a new problem though

20230619_140835.thumb.jpg.cdc5556bb3bb8e0138af50297447ad63.jpg

Took the seats out, removed various cigarette filters, lighters and coins - someone has been at the driver's one before and it's FUBAR

Adjusted the clutch so that's got a nice bite now. Service bits on order

as said, unless someone has it on retention, it should snap back to RE04WWR :) as an aside one upside of the recent experian backend changes, is you CAN get carbaba to spit out "foward" registration marks

as in if you take a number plate thats on retention/not applied to any car currently, and shove it into Carbaba it will sometimes spit out, what the current registration mark is of the last car said mark was applied to, so if you take RE04WWR, and put it into Carbaba it will spit out V33EAT :)

just a handy little "trick of the trade" so to speak! "all you car data is belong to us" :)

Laugh reaction is for the sheer laziness of them just literally  "over-plating" the private plate over the old one, hey not one to complain, saves ya having to get another set of plates made up :)

Rear brakes adjusted. NSR adjuster is right the way out, think the drums are a bit worn

Adjusted loads of slack out of the handbrake cables, now it works and doesn't point to the ceiling.

OSR wheel bearing is noisy but it can wait for now

Nice buy..... im sure one of those 'we buy plates' places will jump at that plate to flog off to some vegan place

Yep got it listed already. There are various similar ones for about £250-300 but they suggested £600 odd? That would be nice, free car!

One had a broken spring on the fore-aft adjuster but soon swapped off an old one.

Also got the rear seats and headrests
