New Yota!!

Well I can't seem to keep away from old Toyota's, this is the latest addition to the fleet via face bay, a fair few giffer marks, however the inside is clean.

It comes with amazing history including the original invoice where the first owner back in 1996 parted with over £18k, of which £1500 was paying for the addition of AC... Which currently doesn't work along with the key fob!

My fave bit is the lonely plastic trim that sits around the radio, no where else🙂Screenshot_20230325-170852.thumb.png.753b70b48037f42b1321bbcf8332bb38.pngPXL_20230325_165557967.thumb.jpg.88090e050b1916de196918f739b34d7a.jpgPXL_20230325_165624413.thumb.jpg.4abdb32fbbf8ade672d1f62b094ea4a9.jpg

That interior trim! You don’t see patterns like that any more.

Can’t remember the last time I noticed one of those in estate form.

Wow! Epic ! Love that original radio, I wonder if the wood is aftermarket (there used to be ads for veneer kits for all Sorts of cars)

Regardless of the wood status; WOULD!

It is an XLE, so maybe the wood/ plastic made it... As there are no alloys, does have a functioning factory sunroof!

I've only seen one other currently for sale.... I think he's over cooked it!Screenshot_20230325-193811.thumb.png.196f094c041ebd573df95392e1d9ef52.png

Presumably there’s a short story worthy of publication regarding the first owners driving habits in the description.

My one had a saving of £4350 against what the dreamer on ebay is asking.. also with a long MOT 🙂

That looks epic! Well bought.

£1500 for optional air conditioning on a big familiar car in 1996? Bloody hell.

Well bought. I also like the stripey seat trim. :-D

£650? Holy moly.

Anyway - you are among Toyota enthusiasts here. @Spottedlaurelwill like it too!

Yes, 650 and one of those car covers chucked in free that only goes over the roof and windows...

Original invoice is interesting as I reckon spending 1500 notes on AC would be like 3k in modern money, even has the original main dealer key ring on the keys!Screenshot_20230326-182308.thumb.png.ff105be98c5168bd58dd7af29a25004c.png

That is one sexy sports* shooting* brake. Secretly always wanted one simply because it's so derided.

I bet it's a darn sight better than most 26 year old cars.

What's she packing under the hood, mister?

I had a 96 golf about 10 years back it felt like a 90s car, however the Carina drives more like it's ten years old!

I reckon that design was a jelly mould wind tunnel job, as it looks more like a mid 2000s Hyundai or Kia.

Packing a 2.0 16v with autobox, I would like to say that sounds sporty but the reality is far from it 🙂

3SFE engine. Good luck wearing it out. My old Avensis is on 272k now with the SL family

277,149 when it got a new MoT last week :-)

What a great thing anyway! Camry/MR2 type engine is a wonderful thing. I reckon that's the best option for the estate version, well bought @Alan Prost. We had the lean-burn 1.8 in our hatchback, which was OK but I'd far rather have had the 2.0.

Wood trim looks similar to what we had on ours, which was a facelift CD so I believe that got AC as standard.

Pretty much!

And looking at the overall invoice, showing the car retailing new at £18222...

Lumme, the thick end of thirty-four bags.

Money well spent, you'll agree!

Love these big barges. Rare sight these days, but so right in every way.

And by-the-by, there's a fella in Peterborough who does keyfob repairs by post for around £40 - if you can't find anyone local to sort yours, he did a good job on my similarly non-operational Subaru fob. He lists his repair service on eBay.

Wow, amazing when you look at the purchase price like that, i'll take a look at keyfob repairs on the bay, thanks for the advice!

That is good to hear, my one currently sits at 126k and will not be my daily but a weekend tool for dog and activities....

That inflation calculator is scary.  My Rover 75 cost the equivalent of £48K in today's money when it was new...
