A stunning looking car.

If only I had held out for a V6 petrol instead of diesel I might have kept it.

In the back of the showroom there’s that last of the line 605 24v manual in metallic maroon with black leather. The dealer principal ordered it thinking  that the sales manager could convince the MD of a big fleet customer to give up his XJ6. He failed when the customer realised it was manual( because the auto box used in 605’s couldn’t cope with 200 odd bhp) That failure cost the Sales Manager his job and the dealership £30,000, they’d be grateful for me offering £15k and I’d be spotted in Autoshite’s late registration madness thread.

That can’t be the one you had off me, it never looked that smart when we had it!

It looked a lot better with a good cut and polish. And when it rained it was beautiful!

This would be my choice if there was one going.

There was a nicely patinated 406 coupé a few doors up from me until a couple of years ago; sadly it ended up getting abandoned and towed through a series of unfortunate events.

The 306 please. That’s as early as they come isn’t it? My dad bought a non-turbo in bottom of the range XND form. I think he has a choice of white like yours, red, or a very bold light green/blue shade. Ours was M reg though so had gained some chrome around the front badge and a little lip around the boot lid button.

Nice collection!

I had these two and a 305 at the same time but didn’t get them all lined up for a photo, sadly. This is the best I found. (Yaris isn’t mine!)

Could you still buy a 306 SL saloon in 2000/01? I think that'd be my pick.

Edit: Sorry, I seem to have forgotten the order of the alphabet...

Our 206 which I called the Peugeot of last resort has just been moved on. It was bought new by MILDS (Mother-in-law DS) in the year 2000 and had been in the family ever since. The trouble was we didn't use it enough and it failed the MOT on emissions after just scraping through the year before.

Hopefully the new owner will resurrect it and his daughter will use it if he can persuade her that although its not cool it is good.

That was a nice car. I'm pretty sure it had been mapped, and certainly had a bit of intake tinkering. Went well after I put a MAF sensor on it. Was awful when I first got it.

Where is it now?

It is MOTed to Nov 2023 and Taxed.

Early 2000's and with a blank cheque book (remember those?) I'd be happily ordering a 406 2.0 Hdi (110bhp) Executive Estate in Diablo Red metallic but I'd want to specify the tan/caramel leather trim.

Be happy with that, comfy as a sofa, good on fuel and still looks stylish to this day.

If money was really no object i'd see if they could locate any unregistered 306 Rallye's and order one of them for the other half while I was at it
