Excellent stuff Mark, enjoy reading through your threads as it's good to see someone getting stuck in and not being afraid to tackle work.

Thanks Billy, :D

No need to be afraid of doing any work, everything is fixable even if i have a major fail day. . . which stems onto learning from your mistakes.

So all round win, win.

Minimad, you are a brave man and if I had a cap I would doff it to you.

Seriously, good luck with all that and if you ever get stuck or lose motivation theres plenty on here to give advice/encouragement/shoulder to cry on (delete as appropriate).

Looking forward to seeing the finished article, I reckon its going to be something special!

Warren - GXR 700 ... or something

Barrett - I still need to get the chassis underneath with the engine and gearbox attached, then ALOT of time and money (both which i don't have at the moment) ... Did i mention making a new wiring loom, break lines, fuel lines, accelerator cable, clutch cable. The list goes on :D

Station - Yeah that would help ALOT thanks. (Easier than scraping my arm to death lifting it in and out  )

Lobster - Thanks, it will hopefully look stock and "shit", real street sleeper style

That's a great choice of engine, around 200bhp/ton. 8)

What's the gearbox off?

An SJ 410 I think.

An SJ 410 I think.

It is an SJ gearbox of some kind, if anyone knows a way of telling an SJ410 box from an SJ413 gearbox, that shall help.

Yeah! Fancy retracting your previous statement Pog?

I might be very wrong but I think 410s have 4 speed gearboxes while 413s have 5 speeds.

Not alot to show, just a bit of fibreglass cutting and removal of cylinder head (Most of it was done in the beautiful rain)

.... Perfect :D

Since then i have been over the edges with a metal file, and it now all looks neat.

(Yes i did remove the sump when cutting and filing )

Other than that i have been doing very small things.

I have bough and attached a small blade fuse-box, and drew my own wiring loom, just hope it works when i make it

Just need to buy Metal and Argon, then the ball shall continue to roll and more progress will be had.

 Haven't been here for a while, this is great progress.

You should consider putting the images up at R3W, that'll shake the twigs out of the purists' beards.....

I saw this yesterday, and have to say, Mark has some bloody good ideas for it.

Just a shame about the mahoosive black plastic mirrors he has planned.... :P

Chrome all the way!

Thanks for the kind words guys.

The mahoosive mirrors Pete is talking about, came all the way from Rab of this very parish. I would like to use them as they are different from anything else you see.... But i shall admit, i will take Petes words and remember them well, as he is the pro' here.

As for chrome - If i get the car painted and looking the way i imagine, then powder coated bumpers and mirrors will look bob on, along with powder coated steels.

What can i say, progress and updates will be slow .... but it will get there.

Progress for progresses sake. Looking forward to seeing more :). If you're colour coding with black plastic mirrors should look fineee :). I must pay visit !

Team Blitz, you have a strange way of saying things but you seem a nice guy

This thread basically started when i bought my 1983 Mk1 Fiesta.

I pretty much completed that and then bought a 1972 Reliant Rebel, at first my plans for the Rebel was to use pretty much all of a Mazda MX5's running gear. But after ALOT of research i came to the conclusion it would be past my skill levels, although it would have been achievable.

So after more research and a lot of talking to friends (Watanabe and Edd) ... we all figured a G13B (Suzuki Swift GTI engine) ... would be a good idea.

So here i am today with a G13B engine, Suzuki SJ410 Gearbox, Mikuni Bike carbs and a Reliant Rebel, all i have to do is put the pieces together and fabricate a mounting or two.

Hope that helps

(Rebel)

Not an update

What can i say - Commitment to a certain apprenticeship has stopped play for now - Not complaining as i've become a precision nut and have gained new skills.

Although work has "stopped" i have been doing small things at weekends (Mostly more research and part hunting)

I now have some seats that will be alot more comfortable and supportive when all is done. (Thanks Jon. Hope them "other" seats will fit too  )

I have slowly gathered a few "new" clocks and dials.

Sanding , Sanding , cutting of fibreglass and more sanding.

Made new door seals (Every little helps  )

And have now managed to get a rather small bottle of Argon for the Tig, in order to crack on with welding. But no doubt will need many , many more bottles ... or just one big one haha.

Going to be helping another car enthusiast also called Mark out too, so i shall have to admit - Progress will be slow.

Ooh and i'll have pictures for you all to look at in a few weeks (Nope not pictures of the Rebel)

My new motto - "Slow and steady wins the race" 8)

Your new motto in a couple of weeks:

"Working outdoors in the winter is fucking horrible." and possibly "I can't feel my hands."

I think my dad has actually mentioned 'Slow and steady wins the race" while helping me work on a car, followed minutes later with him launching a random tool (and turning the air blue) across the garage.
