Alpine 4 Sale

A couple of months ago I lent the Alpine to a mate who was without transport. He decided he liked it and wanted to buy it, so I agreed to sell it to him. The jammy git has just been given (yes, given, as in free) an E38 728i, so he's given the Alpine back. Much as I'd like to keep it, my current financial situation and shortage of space (I'm giving the unit up at the end of the month as I just can't afford it at the moment) means that realistically it's going to have to go.It's T&T'd until the end of July, and while in my mate's custodianship it's had a tune-up and an electronic ignition conversion (mate is a mechanic) and now goes like the clappers. He's also had a go at tidying up the offside rear arch, although the nearside one is still going to need doing. He's fitted a boot spoiler off a Solara, which actually suits the car quite well. It also now has a CD player in it, although the original radio/cassette is still with it. Other than that it's pretty much as it was when I bought it - the clutch is high but doesn't slip, the rear brake shoes will need doing in the very near future, but other than that it's ready to jump in and use. I thought I'd put it on here first before I try RR as I'd rather it didn't get hit with any sticks if at all possible. I'd like £275 for it.

This is it when I first bought it. It's not changed much, although it has lost the single wheeltrim.

I've had two of these in the past. Never thought that 25 years on I would actually miss them!Yours is a really nice example though. Wish I had room for it here.

C0ck. I quite fancy that too. :lol:EDIT: Lowering an Alpine would be a major pain as it is torsion bar setup. I'd say even if you put it on RR, the 'Stick hitters' would run a mile anyway!

Silly me. Thought you meant a Renault Gta.Nice though.Good luck -think you might need it....

SEXY CAR. I would like that in my garage. Sadly the 'one out one in' policy that is being dictated by The Management prevents this.

£275! I love Autoshite! Hope it goes to a good home.

That's alright Mr. Bickle, I thought he meant Sunbeam Alpine Fastback!.

and I thought he meant the Renault 5 Alpine edition..!...err, wait - no I didn't! :P

I too would love that on my drive, its absolute 5 star premier gold plated shite of the highest order. Whoever buys it will become autoshite royalty! Were these built in Coventry by any chance?

Yep they were built in coventry - any chance of a few more pics? Whats the condition of the tailgate like - and has it had any previous welding inside the boot on the innerwings?

My word that's nice! What a splendid car, does anyone know how many are left?

Tailgate has some grot on the inside round the base of the screen, although not as bad as some I've seen. Outer skin is fine though. I don't think the inner wings are too bad - the car's in my unit at the moment which is 12 miles away so I can't just nip out and check, but I spent enough time poking round in the boot trying to find how to fold down the rear seat ( ) that I reckon I would have noticed if there was any significant grot.

I was told there are 15 left on the road - how accurate that is I don't know. Apparently the figure was taken from a Practical Classics survey last year though.

This is the NSR arch - this was the worst of the two.

Not really got much else in the way of pics at the moment.

Looks like with a bit of TLC, that would come up lovely!I don't think Antelope Beige ,as that colour was called, did anything for the look of the car. They did a horrible solid green aswell.Production of the last Alpine/Solaras/Minx/Rapiers was July 1985 and they were offered at ridiculously cheap prices to big fleets at the time. By this stage they had the latest Peugeot 5 speed box and switchgear and were a nice, comfy well made car.Incidentally, in France, Alpine production (or Talbot 1510 as it was known over there) stopped as early as 1982...only the Solara was continued til 1985.

Had a couple of emails from the C&C advert but nothing of any consequence as yet.
