Indeed it is but would they really be much worse than the 730 or 735i?

Same bodyshell so theoretically the larger engine would not be working that hard to pull it around, suppose theres more to life than miles per gallon but thats easy to say when its not you that has to pay for the fuel!

Never been a big fan of BMW's myself but there is something about this which is saying "You've got to buy me immediately"

Petrol on these is pretty ruinous. I think the later 5.4 litre were better. Having said that, if you do mostly dual carriageway roads and stay out of town then it will not be THAT different to a V8. My 6.0 XJ12 will quite happily get 21 mpg at 80mph (23 if you are happy to cruise at 56mph), and a mix of country road and motorway journeys sees 17 average. My friend's 2 year old 600 S class will get no better - in fact he has never seen anything over 20mpg. Another friend with a 760iL gets an average of 19mpg. Neither of them believe that my rusty old 18 year old car with as big or bigger engine gets better mpg. Both of their cars get to 60 a full 2 seconds faster than I will, but when their limiters kick in at 155, I'll graciously wave at them as I pass having eventually caught them up.

As with any older V12 it's the repair bills that will hurt most.

I recall having that very same feeling when I saw my Jag on Ebay for the first time. Some things just have to be done.

Wonder what petrol is like on these? That's a big engine.

Not good. Not good at all. They're better on the motorway (as you'd expect) - I bought mine from west London and on the 100mph run back up the M11 I actually used less fuel than my mate following me in my 1.4 Escort - probably 'cos the Escort was flat out all the way and the Beemer was just rolling along. It did just over 20mpg on that run if memory serves. However, it averaged 11 round town - less if the traffic was really bad. Made the Cadillac STS seem like a diesel AX by comparison. It was bloody fast though.

Edit: although to be fair mine was "the far too long limousine, which drives on the road like a drunken longboat..!!!"

This is lovely, but:

*** This car has a two piece prop shaft, the centre rubber donut is perishing, so will need to be replaced at some point *** It’s not a problem other than the constant seriuous knocking from the prop as it brushes the casing ***

Oh aye, doesnt sound much like a problem that!! Come on just get it sorted man, youre selling a quality motor there FFS.

He's been trying to sell that for a while, I posted it on here a few months back, The prop wasn't knocking back then though, I think it belongs to someone on RR.
