WTC, you're right. I think Billy Butler must have been sitting up late, just as I was, trawling the 3 channels we had back then, and fallen under the spell of a California cop show transplanted to Australia! He certainly did his bit promoting it, even inviting Lucky over at one point. Not sure he ever came, mind, but at least BB tried.

That's tasty but i still prefer the Toledo, that's more of a sleeper and red tops are soooo 2002.

I totally approve of sleepers. Toledo or 100E would be fun, but as I've been known to daydream of Toledos rather like that one, it's the winner for me. Unless someone finds something even more interesting...

Looks like previous owner might have been a farmer or mud wrestler. Under 100K miles and with a couple of months MOT. Looks like it would scrub up quite nicely though.

Bastards  - occording to the DVLA it has gone so no chance of trying to save it!!

Sadly there aren’t many people putting money into that model, Datman has had a tax exempt example up for sale for yonks and seems to be stuck with it. I know of a local, one-owner example that I’d like to be able to buy one day, but I wouldn’t want to pay a huge amount for it.

Look at this thoroughly miserable motoring experience. Does it even have a radio, or provision to have one?

That Fester is true minge-bag motoring. I think my Popular must have had the centre console from an L fitted to it, as it did have space for a stereo. The Popular Plus at least has a rear wiper. LUXURY!

That is miserable alright! Its a level of misery that cannot be bought at any price in a modern motor.

I would be all over it if I spied it at a show though cos you just never see em any more! Lets face it who is going to put up with that as a day-to-day motoring experience in 2010. I bet its quite sweet to drive though, if it weighs 800kg i'll be surprised. Who is it on here who spent ages doing up a white one of these?

I had a mark 1, 1.1 Popular Plus and it was a fun and nippy little thing. You couldn't hold a conversation at 70mph though!!

I had a 957cc one of these when I was 19, the car was only a year old and was awful...gutless, noisy and handled terribly due to the 135 tyres it had.

After about 3 months I chopped it in for a D plate Escort 1.3 Popular which although not that much more plush trim wise felt like a Bentley in comparison.

I recently bought this Metro as a complete car with intentions of running it around. After a week of me owning the Metro a guy wanted the engine for his Mini so i had to let the engine go

Forced at gun point were you?

The exhaust-radiator and piping are all still there. 2 days and this little beast could be back on the road afterall it's still Mot'd until November this year

Two days and a few hundred quid later!!

This is very solid for it's age and being a 5 door is very handy and becoming a rare classic.

Probably going to be even rarer now thanks to you.

And he wants £450 for it - wanker!!

Oooh. Yellow Dyane! Love the bodge-job front indicators. Obviously got a fail because the original lenses aren't orange anymore but rather than fit orange bulbs, they've just fitted different indicators!

Vel (dis) Satis (faction) dizzler anyone?

'currently showing Service light together with voice message "Power assisted steering fault: consult your Renault dealer". Car has been diagnosed by Renault dealer who say it needs 2 new glowplugs (No2 and No4 cylinders), and that these may well be the cause (by interfering with voltage to electric PAS) but that cannot be confirmed without replacing the glowplugs'
