If your going to nick people's pictures at least acknowledge them. ☹️ Wanker.

Here's another one of the same day.

Did exactly the same to my brother's Marina in 1988, except in a back lane, not in the street. That wasn't because of being ashamed to work on cars in the street, it was just a matter of convenience. About a year before, I welded up the rear of the sills on his Mini, and changed the rear subframe, right outside our  front door, on a very similar street to that. Neighbours were much more tolerant in working class areas in those days, just normal people, not roided up tattoo covered thugs with necks like a wedding cake tier.

I would have considered one of those. A slight Astra F vibe, but less boring.

Would you look at the panel gap on the door of the Simca 1100.  The good old days.

Simcas were not at the top of the build-quality tree, I know, but looking closely... isn't that door open a bit?  That might give a wrong impression.

Nobody had a panel gap fetish in those days. It's a totally meaningless measure of real quality. Volvos always had wide and inconsistent panel gaps , but they lasted far longer than most cars, averaging a seventeen or eighteen year life when  cars were often scrapped at ten to twelve years.
