The Mario brothers finish the last Golf Mk1 and  starts on the Mk2.

Although one of them is looking a little sheepish, because, as we all know, the replacement is never as good as the original (in all cases).

A 'travel car' is a novel idea. I wonder what all the other cars on the road are doing if not travelling?

Being driven? Interesting distinction, though.

Just wondering, what does an auto electrician actually do on a Mk1 Escort?  There's like just a few wires.

Children had it harder growing up back then. This one is being used as an air bag for example.

I was thinking the same. Being an auto electrician in the early 70s must have been a doddle.

So why were they ( the cars not the electricians), so unreliable compared with today’s cars?

Thinking about this, you're right that they were unreliable so people (we!) had to continuously adjust points, clean plugs and so on.  It's just not that complicated to do.  I s'pose they could rebuild dynamos, alternators, those dynamo control boxes and a few other things.

Is the 'Austin' plate central and on straight? Looks a bit sloppy for a publicity photo.
