Thanks for the compliments guys, always good to gain recognition for doing something I enjoy.

Here are a selection of static cars inside the event....

There was a huge Alfa presence, due to the company celebrating their centenary. Great selection of post 60's stuff, as well as the 30's racing cars.

I used to have one of these for a few months in the mid 90's. It never really worked very well, but had very little rust. I sold it to a very small hairy man, who fitted into the car perfectly. I never ever got used to its driving position.

And of course lots to see outside too.

Bizarre - I can only assume it received serious roof damage.

One of 2 built - shame it never made it into production. I think the roof and doors are porsche sourced.

Wow, some aboslutely top stuff there. Not sure what I like most but the Zagato looks very nice...

What was next to the chopped Escort? Fiat coupe of some sort? or a mk3 scrote? Looks interesting whatever it is...

also, if i may be slightly pedantic for a moment, despite the sign-writing on the front of the truck, I think that they were actually sold as Romeos, no 'Alfa' involved....you may want to look that up and double check but i'm pretty sure i'm right....

Posted

Cheers Barrett! The Italians have a knack of surprising me by constantly coming up with variations on a name. I suspect that little A12 truck is based on a Alfa saloon of the time.

The red car next to the chopped escort is this.....

A selection of car from the last few weeks, and some more recent ones from a mission in South London. The missus and her friend wanted to go shopping in town, so I dropped them off near hyde park at 12pm, and spent the next few hours shite hunting over the other side of the river - I went to the places I remember that had shite cars when I lived there. When I picked her up promptly at 6, she asked me what I'd been up to. I replied 'the usual'.

Posted Image

I didn't realise these went up as late as this.

Seen and photographed this Gamma before but deserves another view.

And these are the London findings - I made a rule not to bother with the usual type of Londoner classics - amazons, beetles, DS's, camper vans, BL sports cars etc - all worthy of photographing but I was after proper shite. I think I did ok!

When I first saw this I assumed it had been pulled out the vandalised garage, then upon closer inspection noticed it had been fairly recently taxed. I'd imagine the owner must be bearded.

This car has been up this road for over 15 years, I used to walk past it every day.....

Bloody hell, nice work. That Allegro estate is excellent, Ive seen many an abandoned car in better condition.

Who the hell do you think you are? Showing me something as brilliant as this!

Call me a cnut but I really like the cut of its jib!

Hey, that Fulvia Zagato in the last batch was ours! I bought it in 1997 for the former Mrs P (with my late dad's legacy) and she sold it when we got divorced. It's looking a lot better now than it did then

Posted

The Allegro is top drawer!I like the flamed Maxi too!In fact there's too much to like in that post :D

Posted

That is, quite simply, ASTONISHING for a single afternoon's spotting!

Posted

The Allegro estate is indeed five star class. And the roof chop Escort is making me want to search ebay for Escorts and angle grinders...

Wow, what a great selection! I really should stop being lazy and get out with a camera around my part of London, and hope I can do half as well.More on the Alfa Romeo A12 from the top of the page: the A12 is an updating of the Romeo light commercial introduced in 1954, which was described as an Alfa Romeo Romeo, the second 'Romeo' being the model name (it dates from the same time as the Giulietta, so there's the possibility it was a 'Romeo y Giulietta' naming stunt, also they later added 'Alfa' as part of the model names eg Alfa Romeo Alfa 6 and Alfasud).Unlike Alfa cars, the vans were front wheel drive, using a ZF transaxle. They were fitted either with a version of of the Giulietta's 1.3 twin cam, or a two cylinder, two stroke supercharged diesel.

Posted

A supercharged twin-pot 2-stroke diesel coupled to a ZF transaxle sounds like a superb choice of motive power for a small delivery truck. GR8 4 EXPLODIN @ UR CUSTOMERS GAFF THEN COSTIN 2 YRS OF TURNOVER 2 REPAIR

There is a surprising amount of them in the UK too, though i doubt any are dizzlers. Someone on Autopuzzles has one, and there is a site where someone has got a little register going, about 7 are in the UK. Good to know.

Posted

Superb update! Difficult to single out any for comment, but the Audi Avant, Bluebird and Alfa saloon are particularly fine. What's the registration on the B11 Sunny please? My ageing eyes couldn't quite make it out. It's impressive to stil be seeing those and the N12 Cherry 25 years on, as they were rather insubstantial compared to Datsuns of old and the engines have the head and gasket issues.
