THE GUBBERMINT ALWAYS KNOWS BEST

I'd put alot of money on the majority of all the western automotive "Family silver" that comes up for sale will be grabbed by the Chinese. If old and bizarre brands like Morris and Talbot were to come up again you could probably convince them to buy in. The chinese car companies can easily undercut us on the manufacturing of parts all they need to do is have a small production line in the west and Ta Da western cars... enough to fool silly brand whores in China and abroad.

Regardless... it would be a shame to loose the Saab brand even if they will become reengineered Chinese tat.

oh...and what Mr Bol said

Saab's only following Volvo, already owned by Geely something or other in China. And the Americans actually managed to make a pretty decent job of Volvo!

and Jaguar/Land Rover. The cars have never been so good.

Wheezy useless heater fan on the Commer has been replaced by this little beauty , fitted inside the original fan case so you cant even tell its modified , A gail force in comparison to the original , cheapish as well so who cares if its really for a boat :)

I take it from reading the blurb that it is just a blower motor and not a heater/blower?

Yep just the asthmatic blower which wouldnt put a match out , I HAZ HEAT :D

Not sure if you're just being obtuse.... but no twas GM that had fooked Saab long before Barry was even out of school.

SAAB was doing fine till the yanks got involved with it and fucked it up to the max.

You mean Obumpass, he's Kenyan actually.

I mean Bob Lutz and his crew.

I can guess who you are talking about, someone I blocked recently.

The man who inadvertantly makes Communism look good.

Oh but I do miss his hilarious play on words based posts. HUUURRR DUURRRR!!!!!!!!!!

Too true! (Though I'm also basking in the delight that is the Foe button. So many ignored posts! Doesn't work if someone quotes him though...)

I poured a 400ml bottle of Forte Fuel Injector Cleaner into the Clio a couple of hours ago, caught a slight whiff of it and BAM, instant headache. What the heck do they put into that stuff??

Still I have the "Italian tune-up" on the way home to look forward to

Can we go back to talking about cars and what we've been up to with 'em?

It's all very nice chattin' politics and shit, but this ain't the place for it. C'mon folks, quit winding each other up and posting inflammatory bait on 'ere. It's fun sometimes - I'm as guilty of it as anyone now and then, including this thread.. - but this was one of the 'untainted' threads.

We're gonna lose folks if every thread turns into squabbles about Merkins / other forums / horses arses.

In todays news, I've been taking loads of pics of the Rangie to pep up the old fleabay ad. Washed it too, it looks all shiny now.

looking good Pete,

I need to come to a decision about the 306 -

BX is running very well but does need the new radiator switch fitting - I will try and tackle that at the weekend.

I gave it a bit of a burn this morning and it's swift when you floor it.

^^Nice CB antenna on the Rangie, Pete-M!

It's a lamp-post. Clever parking that.

I went to the local tool place and spent 50 quid ongrinding stones, flapdiscs, ear plugs and one of them 3m filter masks as I've got a lot of grinder and rubbing down to do in the coming months.

I'm fed up of having a nose full of filler dusk or flapping my wings running around my workshop thinking I'm a hummingbird as I've had a little too much solvent hence the 3m mask.

My Vactan turned up today, a whole litre of it:

Looking forward to trying it out on The Volvo at some point in the near future :)

Early dive from work today, so washed and waxed the C8 whilst using chain wax on the sliding rear door mechanisms.

Looked at the Micra, but thought "f*ck it" - I'll wash that one tomorrow. Pulled the front wheel off and finally replaced the wheel stud and nut that have been broken/missing since last December. Not as bad a job as I had been thinking.

Tomorrow Im off to tackle the Citroen dealership over their abject failure to spot a bollocksed lower ball joint on the C8.

I'll remember that! Incidentally, it was your using on the BX that made me decide to buy some for myself :)

What is Vactan? Is it upholstery cleaner?

Industrial-strength rust convertor. Kurust and the like are made from a watered-down form of it :)

Shaken not stirred... :)

I might have to get some myself for applying to rusty bits on the GSA... Megane also has a little scab on a rear wheelarch that I could try it out on.

In other news, garage says the GSA is ready to collect, having had reundersealing and a hole plugged in the bulkhead.

Mark.

I love the fact that despite the title silliness, normal service seems to be continuing in this thread! It is the Autoshite 24hrs thread right?

Rover Coupe's heater has started to smell of coolant this week, that changed tonight to the smell of burning oil. Bugger.

In better news Mrs the Princess' C-reg Oporto Red Metro is booked into an Mot on Tuesday. Just need to make it charge it's self before then

Suitcase packed, boarding pass printed, clock set for 3.30am.

Photo of said Metro required please :) A rare colour for Metros to be in, it's normally a popular Meastro colour. Oh, and good luck with the MoT!
